La Caille Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Our son and his wife gave us a gift certificate and we're so glad they did. We're thinking about giving all of our children gift certificates for Christmas. They'll love it! A great place for a special night out. We were celebrating our 56th wedding anniversary, and so glad we were able to spend time at La Caille. EVERYTHING was fabulous - yes, even the complimentary Baked Alaska! We can't wait to come back.
Words cannot begin to describe La Caille! This is the best restaurant I’ve eaten at in years. Everything from appetizer to main course was perfection. The lamb was perfectly prepared medium rare and was absolutely delicious. The creative potato encrusted Chilean sea bass just melted in my wife’s mouth. If you are ever in the Salt Lake area you have to eat here!!
La Caille is unbelievable and certainly the best brunch that I have ever had! The grounds are absolutely amazing. The food was all fresh and in every way exceeded my expectations. Undoubtedly the best French Toast that I will ever eat! This is not an inexpensive restaurant, but the value is absolutely there in the quality of the ingredients, in the preparation, in the location, and in the service. And the service! Possibly the best service that I have ever experienced!
I have raved about La Caille to an out of town friend of ours for years and finally had the opportunity to take him there. As always, they did not disappoint.
He was so impressed at how the decor reflected many restaurants he had visited in Paris and that the food was so amazing he actually dreamt about it.
The service was perfect. Our server, Malin, was great, friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. He offered some great suggestions about menu items and they were all spot on. Everyone was more than pleased with their selections.
Paired with the beautiful surroundings it was a delightful experience we will all long remember.
Really outstanding for a relatively small city - lucky find on our one night extra stay over in Salt Lake. Escargot bourguignonne the best I've had outside major cities - like Paris. Great wine list and creative menu and presentation. Service was excellent without being presumptuous or over bearing. Grounds are fabulous - plan on some extra time to stroll around - they have 22 acres!! Interesting history too.
There is no better place to celebrate a special occasion. True, the prices are high. But if highly priced food is not what you want, then do not go to La Caille. However, if you are in a financial position to spend $300 on a truly remarkable evening with your special someone, there is not a better place than La Caille.
My spouse and I recently (Sep. 11, 2017) ate here and were in awe at the quality of service and caliber of food. For our entrees, I had the filet mignon and lobster tail, and my spouse had the chicken. Both of our meals were perfectly cooked, well-presented, and delivered to our table with perfect timing. We sat outside next to a fountain and watched peacocks and swans roam the grounds next to one of La Caille's three ponds. Our waiter, Malin, was absolutely top-notch. His tact and attention to detail were excellent. I am not speaking in hyperbole when I say that he was one of the best waiters we have ever had.
A few practical notes: our waters were always topped off. Our table was always kept clean (both from empty plates and from crumbs). All of our courses came out in exactly the timing we wanted. Potion sizes are well-calculated to leave you full, but not in pain. Our table was outside and on cobble stones, and after a first visit from our waiter, without us pointing it out, he noticed that the table wobbled ever so slightly, and immediately fixed the wobble. The chef sent us a few treats, compliments of the chef.
Overall, La Caille is Utah's finest. But, unless you're quite well-off, it is probably best saved for special occasions. Know your budget and dine accordingly. We would (and do) recommend La Caille to every person looking for a memorable evening and fantastic food.
We were in awe from the moment we arrived. The scenery was just beautiful and everything was very romantic which was perfect since it was my boyfriends birthday. Our waitress was excellent and all the food choices we made were impeccable. The birthday dessert presentation was an added touch. Can't wait to go back.
This was my second time eating at La Caille. I was blown away the first time. The second time, our waitress asked me the same questions 3 or 4 times, got my drink order wrong and it was not busy at all. I have worked in the service industry for a very long time, and can usually tolerate sloppiness or distractions...But this, however, i could not let go. I felt bad because I left Tracey a lesser desirable tip, but service was not great. Food and ambiance was great, but put a little more effort next time...
What an amazing place! Beautiful inside and out. Service was amazing, she might have even tried a little too hard... Over cinnamon on our Bananas foster. But it was cute because she was trying to impress us and make the flames bigger. Filet mignon and lamb are incredibly juicy and flavorful. French onion soup was the best I have ever had. My only complaint was the scallops, I felt they were fishy and not so fresh, but my significant other loved them. I tend to be more sensitive and critical. Make sure to walk the grounds and vinyard after dinner. Gorgeous!
The experience was magical! Beautiful candle lit dinner. Our waitress was super friendly and gave us amazing recommendations. The food was delicious, compliments to the chef. We were constantly given plates from the chef from a appetizer to dessert. Definitely will be going again!
The ambiance was amazing and we had such a wonderful experience with the service and the INCREDIBLE grounds, building and terrace made it all worth it. The food was incredible, and although amazing, felt a little over priced still. Overall the money doesn't seem that crazy all things considered.
place is beautiful, food is bad and overpriced. many wines at 3 to 4 times retail. 6 ounces of expensive lobster bisque arrived less than lukewarm. scallop appetizer seared on 1 side only, swimming in unappetizing white sauce. the 24 oz ribeye, priced at $80, was not great, a little gristly, and no sauce whatsoever. 2 pieces of tiny vegetable fanned out on plate, no butter, no sauce. we didn't eat it, thought we'd have dessert. server read list of sorbets; came back to say several flavors not available. ice cream flavor i ordered also not available.
somehow we spent over $700 for a really bad meal for 4 people. worst ever.
Been to LaCaille several times over the past few years and the food was the best this time. Usually I think it is just okay and go for the scenery. This time the food was very good. 4 star because my filet had cooled off significantly by the time I got it, and it was slightly over cooked.
We had dined several times at La Caille years ago and were so impressed with the entire experience from the service, to the food, to the magical grounds. Our return visit was extremely disappointing! The service was still top notch, but the food was mediocre, and the restaurant and the grounds were run down. The restaurant had a smell of old mildew and propane. The grounds, once magical, were sad from the life they once had. Our bill for 3 people, without alcohol, was $300. I am accustomed to spending that much for a great dining experience, but La Caille did not even come close to our expectations. We will not be back.
Horrifically expensive food that tasted no better than an airline entree. The amuse bouche was the best part of the meal, but the gourmet experience ended there, unfortunately. The building and grounds are the real draw, but the poor dining hardly makes it worth it.
One of the most special restaurants in Salt Lake City (or really the USA). Magnificent grounds, lovely, sincere service and outstanding meals. The quality of the ingredients is uniformly high and we really love the friendly wait staff. It is a memorable meal in every way.
