Jackson's Bistro Bar & Sushi Ratings and Reviews
We were sat in the back by the kitchen / serving station so we had bus boys looking over our table almost throughout the meal which made it kind of annoying. I was also quite hot compared to the rest of the restaurant. For appetizer we got calamari. The calamari was very fishy tasting, so much so that none of us ate it. Since it was expensive we just had it boxed up to take home to pets. The food was okay. I asked them to remove pasta on my dish and add vegetables instead. There was so little of it that it really didn't seem like it was worth the price. I could have purchased the ingredients and made it at home for far less. Our waiter was great and very accommodating to our needs so we tipped him well before we left.
The meal and the service was good. What WASN’T good was the host staff getting us a cab back to the hotel. They told us 15 minutes max and after half hour we walked to hotel (5 blocks). The good news is you can get there. The bad news is you can’t get home. Grrrrrr
The place was absolutely packed, which is NOT a bad thing. We were able to score a table close to the water. We were celebrating our 24th Anniversary. I had no idea we would be forced to eat off the buffet, I picked this restaurant (at the request of a friend) out of two others.... because of the menu.
I would very much like to come back when we may order off the menu. We did stay for a couple minutes and enjoy a cocktail and watch a little water activity.
Came to Jackson’s for brunch with out-of-town visitors. The location is great, with expansive views over Tampa Bay. It gets another thumbs up for free and convenient parking. I wasn’t wowed by the food - it was mediocre. Surprisingly for a brunch, I couldn’t find any hash browns. They had several fish dishes but no rice or potatoes to go with them. Fish in a Thai curry sauce demands some rice to accompany it! Temperature of the supposed-to-be-hot food was tepid. Sushi was supermarket standard - which surprised me as it’s supposed to be their specialty. Overall, it was OK for a one off, but I will not return.
My hotel was next door to this restaurant, and I ended up eating there 4 different times, and each meal was excellent! It is such a large menu, it was easy to choose different items each time, from fresh fish to Pork Chops to Sushi - everything was delicious and you can't beat the water views!
Witnessed server use a straw to get an item out of a mimosa at the bar only to turnaround and serve the drink to some patron. The eggs Benedict was subpar; it was it as good as first experience. There are other brunch buffets that we will go to in the area.
The food is amazing and the view is breathtaking. My wife and I visited last tuesday evening for the first time and we absolutely loved it. The waitress was very attentive without being intrusive and the noise level was moderate. If you enjoy outdoor dining with a relaxing vibe, this is the spot!
The lobster roll was disgusting. Ended up taking The claw meat home, left The 4 pieces of shredded lettuce and hard burnt stale old bread on the plate. The server didn't know the beers he had on. The view is ok. It was supposed to be an anniversary dinner. Big disappointment. But it was foreshadowed by the garage attendant who told us she didn't know what the big deal was. We only asked her where we should park for Jacksons.
i made the reservation online and was not prompted to indicate whether the table requested was for indoor or outdoor dining. when we arrived, we were told our table was outside because we did not specify. there were empty tables inside but we were told they were "reserved". really??? as we were being taken to our table, i mentioned to the host that the online reservation system didn't ask if we wanted inside or out. His comment, "oh, that's because it doesn't ask". it was a miserable 95 degrees outside. i won't be going back.....
A little bit disappointed with the overall experience. Service was slow, the tables in their outdoor seating were lopsided and wobbly, and my seafood scampi was terrible. Only redeeming quality was the bread and oil they brought as a starter. We won’t be back.
Parking was an issue we should have used valet. Dinner was expensive but we read the menu ahead so it was no surprise. The peanut butter tort was amazing! Vegetarian and keto friendly. I was also impressed that they had a kids menu though we seemed to be the only people there with kids. Overall it was a great experience. I would love to go back when it's not so hot and sit outside.
