Food 101 Ratings and Reviews
There was an audible fight between the cooks in the kitchen and our meal too so long to come out. Reservation was at 7 and we didn’t get served until about 8:45. Server was very nice and apologetic and even comped a dessert, but the food when it finally came out was marginal. None of us finished our portions or took leftovers home.
When we arrived, we sat at the bar to wait on the rest of our party. The bartenders (one male and one female) were not in any hurry to greet us or take our drink order. The male was a bit rude and obnoxious. He would answer questions even when we were talking to the female bartender about the drink list.
The restaurant was nice, but I wasn't overly impressed with the whole experience. For the cost of the meal, I would have expected a more "wow" effect. Not terrible, but I'm not DYING to go back.
Visiting the area and decided to give Food 101 a try. One ordered the sliders app and a salad as an entree, another ordered the 3 meat meatloaf, and I ordered the fried chicken. Everything was delicious. The meatloaf leans more on the sausage side, the chicken is a refreshing classic, tender and juicy. The sliders are lean (ground 3 times) and looked great. For desert, we shared a few bites of the chocolate cake (which was actually gluten free). Talk about wow; I'm a chocolate cake nut, and this tops my list.
Sean was our server, prompt, spot on, engaging, knew the menu and entrees. The staff seemed to very much be team players, helping each other out.
What I liked the most was it's a smaller restaurant, yet everything was spaced out and well decorated. The booths were more "alcove" like but still very open. Even though we had diners on both sides, they didn't intrude.
This is a great casual concept offering service of a higher caliber restaurant. Definitely on the list for the next visit to Atlanta.
I've eaten at Food 101 twice now and the service has been excellent. They have a cute outdoor front patio which is a quaint place to dine. Food was wonderful as well but I do think a little pricey. I had the fried chicken and it was great! Will definitely be back.
We came here for Sunday brunch with friends visiting from out of town. We've eaten at Food 101 several times before and hadn't been disappointed until this visit. It was very busy, but we were seated immediately. Our waitress was apparently having a bad shift- she was unfriendly and inattentive. We had to flag her down numerous times to reorder drinks, ask for water and to place our food order. Once our food was delivered neither she nor anyone else came by to see if everything was alright, if we needed another drink, or to refill the water. When she brought the check, however, she appeared immediately to run the credit card.
Our food was delicious, as always.
Sat on the patio on a Saturday night. The service was spotty with long waits between every step of the way. Got the corn and crab chowder which was very salty and the owner? was more than gracious about it and replaced it with a she crab soup. And did not charge for either. I love the menu but the service was torture and it was not busy.
Wonderful experience. I booked at reservation for a surprise birthday party. Not only did they give us a private room, but they took all my request through the app so the cake was ready and check was split accordingly without me having to say anything to the staff.
Massive Whiskey and craft beer list.
Great for groups.
Since I live within walking distance, I'm a frequent patron of Food 101. I usually enjoy the food, especially the springer Mountain fried chicken, but lately (within the last three months) the food has been inconsistent at the best. The fried chicken and pulled pork enchilada didn't taste the same as past experiences, they changed the fried okra for the worse, the tuna tostadas have been a consistent miss on taste and portion size. I'm not sure if the restaurant has gone through a new executive chef or what the issue is, but I hope the food returns to what it was when I first moved to this area. To note, I rarely write reviews, but after tonight's disappointment, I felt it warranted a review.
I had been looking forward to trying Food 101 for awhile. I don't think I'll return. If I'm with someone else and they are interested in trying this restaurant I would probably ask them if they had a second choice. The food was average. I'd have to say my drink was below average. We had a great server but the rest of the employees were barely friendly.
We have eaten at Food 101 multiple times and always had a great experience. This time was our last time however. The food was horrible. Apparently they have a new chef and they have turned what was once my favorite brunch place into a mess. The manager on duty did take my food off of my bill (thank you) because I ate two bites. It was horrible. My husband fed his leftovers to our dog so they wouldn't go to waste.
