I have been looking for a fried oyster that is similar to oysters I had many years ago. I explained this to my server and she said, "I'm sure our chef can do that". I ordered this for an appetizer and they were so amazing that I ordered more for dinner. The chef is so versatile and creative!! Bravo! The server was polite and attentive and the ambiance was very beautiful. I recommend this for all occasions. Thank you Claddagh for one of the best dining experience that I've had in many years. I will be back!!
Food and service for appetizer and main course very good.
Disappointed as special request for dessert stated on reservation(small cake and a couple of candles ) was not available or ignored.
Substitute of frozen brownie and sparkling candle sent back as unacceptable
We were visiting Charlottetown for our 20th wedding anniversary and decided to try Claddagh as they were listed in the Fall Flavors guide. The Fall Flavors menu was different than it showed on line, so I was a little disheartened, but the recommendations given by our waiter were spectacular! If you go, have the surf & turf; you won't be disappointed.
Service was slow and the pork chop that my husband had for dinner was very fatty. I paid $29 for a 1 pound lobster...very overpriced and then wanted to switch out my potatoes for lobster risotto and had to pay $5 more. I understand the extra cost...sort of, but it is annoying especially considering the price of the lobster. The kale caesar salad was delicious as was the chowder that my husband had. Dessert was also very good. Considering the cost of a dinner for the 2 of us, felt it was overpriced!
We only had a night or two on Prince Edward Island and lucked out with food all around. However, Claddagh House is a definite standout. Everything we had was fabulous. My husband and I decided to share an entree. When it was delivered to the table, we thought it looked a little small (no problem - we could just order something else if we were still hungry). But it was so rich and filling that we were more than satisfied. (Well - we saved a little room for dessert.)
Every summer I come to PEI for a visit. Every time I HAVE to book the Claddagh Oyster House. It truly is the best restaurant I've been to by far. I've been to many but this is the BEST. I ended up eating there both nights because I knew I wouldn't be disappointed and I wasn't. Both servers were exceptional and the food was amazing. Love the atmosphere! Hats off to the best chef ever. I tell everyone about this restaurant when they come to Charlottetown.
We went to the Claddagh house in late August. We were 8 people and were welcomed. Our table was a rectangle/booth and it was great as we could all see each other. It was a bit noisy so we couldn't always hear each other though. The food was delicious. My friends had the oyster sampler and enjoyed it. The scallops were delicious as was the surf and turf. Loved the waterfall in the back of the restaurant. We had a very nice server as well. I would definitely go back.
For our first night we booked a table at Claddagh Oyster House and were not disappointed. The food is very good as was the service. The oysters were excellent, some of the best we have had. We selected from the seafood part of the menu for the main courses to celebrate our first night on the east coast, and had some excellent scallops, one dish paired with pork belly, the other with shrimp. The sticky date pudding wa an excellent finish to the evening. So good in fact, that we returned two days later for the lobster and more pudding.
When the restaurant is full, it can get rather noisy from the patrons boisterous conversations, however, when it is only moderately busy, the sound levels are fine. Great atmosphere either way.
Every year my family of foodies descend on Prince Edward Island and enjoy all the local restaurants. They were extremely impressed with their recent meal at the Claddagh Room. Unique vegetables, generous servings, high quality local ingredients, great service and a wonderful ambience. We go out frequently during their month long stay and this experience is way ahead at first!
The dining room was small but comfortable, with a waterfall and some inventive glasswork. Service was friendly and prompt. We were seated at once, and treated to homemade biscuits and strawberry preserves while we reviewed the menu, which seemed to have something for everyone. The seafood chowder was very rich, but had tons of fresh vegetables. The seafood stew was hearty, with a nice variety of bivalves and fish. Would return!
Fantastic place. I cannot say enough good things about it. My only complaint is that we returned for an early dinner before our flight back to Toronto and they were closed until 5 pm. Such a disappointment not to have another of their great meals. Six nights of eating out and they were definitely on top!
This restaurant comes highly rated, and it lives up to the reputation. The food is incredibly tasty, perfection, with incredible selection of oysters, and an incredible seafood stew and clam chowder.
The service is remarkable, and on time. Loved the ambiance.
We arrived at 7:30 on a Saturday and had a nice booth. The drink order was rather slow as server got talking with another couple. Other than that she had Beat Salad - was awesome as well as the Lobster Risotto which was also great. I had the local special with seafood on rice - forget the name. Seafood was very good - rice was under cooked. We had the local wine Newman - was excellent!
Me and my girlfriend ate here for her birthday dinner, and it was incredible. We both had the seafood chowder to start and it had great pieces of lobster and was filled with seafood. The red potatoes were perfectly cooked to have some bite and not be mushy, which complimented the soft seafood pieces. My girlfriend had the Claddagh Surf and Turf (pork belly and scallops) with an apple-raisin chutney and she loved it. I had the 10oz Blue Dot striploin with oyster jus and topped with some cooked oysters. Both of our meals were cooked perfectly, and my medium-rare steak was just that (unlike some other places I have been). Presentation of the food was great and our waitress was very nice, helpful and always nearby. Definitely will be back!!
Overall, this is a great restaurant! The food was amazing and our server was extremely friendly. I would recommend this to any one. However, I would not advise couples to go here for a special occasion such as a Birthday. I took my girl friend here to celebrate her birthday,I also made it clear to the server and also through email to let the restaurant know our special occasion. We did not receive a small dessert and the servers ignore the fact that it was my girlfriends Birthday. Iv'e been to restaurants that are above and below the caliber of this place and they have all provided some kind of treat for celebrating a special occasion at their restaurant. Other than this one issue, everything else was great.
The Chef's Choice for $45 per diner was the best meal we have had in months...the 4 of us (all with very specific demands - no salmon, nothing too spicy and no lamb!) might have been a challenge for a less talented culinary team....but not the folks in the Claddagh kitchen....wonderful meal with amazing service...oysters 3 ways, steak, a whole halibut, best biscuits ever (served with molasses & butter!) and 4 totally wonderful desserts......YUMMY.....we will be back!
The service from our waitress, Cathy was phenomenal.
We tried the Chef's 4 course Tasting Menu.. Wonderful food. The Chef will come and talk to you about your likes and dislikes from the menu and make up a specail menu just for you.
1. Mussels in Curry Wine sauce; so fresh and succulent
2. Pan Seared Scallope, Lobster Risotto and Pork Belly with Maple Glaze and Raisin Chutney - every bite is so flavourful
3. Tempura Prawn and Crabcake - sounds simple but not overdone; still taste the delicacy of the meat.
4. Medium Rare Bison with XO Sauce and grilled veggies - sounds simple but the flavour and the tenderness of the meat was incredible.
Dessert - White Chocolate & Brown Butter Bread Pudding w/ Whiskey Toffee and French Vanilla Ice Cream
My date and I had a spectacular evening at your establishment.
Our waitress was attentive, the Chef prepared a wonderful 4 course meal, the ambiance and setting was perfect the only problem, the evening ended!
We absolutley loved the Colville Oysters, Lamb (magnificant!!) and steak.
Thank you again for a wonderful evening. We will surely be returning to your venue!
All the best in 2013
