Buca di Beppo - Frisco Ratings and Reviews
We had reservations for Valentine's Day night, and it was horrid... worse than any other restaurant experience we have had in a long time. Don't get me wrong, the food was pretty good, but we got seated 45 minutes after our reservation, and everyone who had reservations experience the same wait period. Nehi Front hostess, and she had no, I repeat, no professionalism at all. She yelled across a tiny room with 40 of us standing there which quiet saying nothing just staring at her awkwardly. then there was Taylor... a girl... she hated her life and her job. We prayed hard that Taylor would not be the one to seat us, but we pulled the short straw. She took us through the "tour " of the kitchen, and it was the most awkward thing I've experienced in a long time. I would normally say that girl doesn't deserve that job, but I think that girl really needs something in her life. Our waiter was fairly decent, the food came out and tasted really good, but we noticed almost every single table in the restaurant was empty yet they still see the people 30 to 45 minutes past the reservations. We also got seated right behind where they dumped plates and forks and big tubs, and every time someone dropped a plate in the tub I got shrills and wanted to punch a baby. The food here is great but go to another location because this place is horrible. By the way I never take time to leave reviews even at bad restaurants but this one was bad enough.
This was the worst restaurant I have ever been to. The service from the hostess to the server was so bad. We had to wait almost an hour to get seated despite having a reservation. The food was terribly overpriced and the loud mouth people that the hostess seated us in front of made this place look like a prison cafeteria.
The food was way too overpriced and mediocre. Even the bathroom had disgusting pictures and frames. I will never go back to this place again. I want my money back!
My only real complaint was that the sangria was very watered down (barely any alcohol in it), full of ice and it was $22 for a carafe. Served in very small glasses, it was barely a normal wine glass excluding the ice. Food was outstanding, service was average, not bad, but not great either!
This is the 3rd year that my family and I have chosen Buca for our NYE dinner. We enjoy the family style dining, and the food is always delicious. Portion sizes are huge, however our waiter was excellent at determining what sizes we needed based on the amount of people at the table. He was spot on! The wine and food were great, however the raspberry chocolate lava cake was nowhere near as good as it looked, in fact, the cake was dry.
I would definitely recommend this location!
I have been to this restaurant before and while it wasn't excellent, it was much better than my visit this past weekend. My primary complaint had to do with the server. He seemed to have a very bad attitude...not friendly at all. The only time he attempted to smile and show us anything but disdain was when he dropped off the check. I'm sure his late attempt at friendliness was him jockeying for a good tip. It came across as very disingenuous after he spent the whole meal being cold towards us and offering poor service. His attitude soured what should have been a nice dining experience.
We had a large group on Christmas Eve and made a reservation to make sure we had a table. Even with a reservation, we had to wait about 30 minutes after the reservation before the table was ready... we had 7 kids aged 4 - 10, so that was a little bit of a pain. It would have been nice to have give us a call with a heads up that they were running late - or a glass of wine for the adults watching the kids! In the end, no big deal. It's Christmas Eve and they were busy.
The table was great. Our table of 17 was seated in a room with one other large group. It was noisy, but that wasn't terrible. We could hear each other talk without yelling. And when the other table started signing a Christmas song, we joined in with them. The service was was very good considering we only had one waitress for our entire group.
I grew up in Philly and know Italian food. This isn't "great" food. But it was consistently good. Calamari was very good, mushrooms were excellent, bruschetta needs work, Spicy Rigatoni was best pasta dish we had, and everyone was happy with the (MANY) dishes that were ordered. We drank several bottles of house Chianti and it was actually a very nice wine.
All in all - we had a great evening with great service, good food, and an excellent atmosphere.
We made reservations for 6 of us for my Mom's 82nd birthday. Staff was very receptive but your food quality has gone downhill immensely! We ordered the fettuccine alfredo and it had no flavor at all. Not even a little salt! Horrible! And is there a bread shortage in America? It was like pulling teeth to get a little more bread for our pasta. Customers shouldn't have to ask 6 times to get more bread.
Your restaurant has so much potential to be great like I remembered it. Let's make Bucca di Beppo great again!
Went for Thanksgiving dinner. Waited a while for drinks. Had to stop someone for a refills. Food took forever. When it finally came we got one plate of pasta. 10 minutes later a plate of spaghetti and meat balls for the grandson. A while later something else. The last plate, sausage and peppers finally came after the food we had ordered to take home. We forgot we had ordered it. I'll never go back. Not worth it.
This is a family style restaurant which I didn't know but even though there were 4 of us and the portions were for either 3 or 6, we had plenty of food ordering the meal for 3. Went for Thanksgiving and it was a good meal. Only time we had to share was for the dessert since they give you 3 pieces of pumpkin pie for the 4 of us but it was still fine.
The atmosphere is very entertaining. Great photos on the walls that spark conversation. The enormous family sized portions are delicious, with enough to share and take home leftovers. The gluten-free menu has many selections, although none include pasta. That was disappointing, as quality GF pasta is available in most Italian restaurants now. Our server was friendly, attentive, and helpful. Overall, a terrific experience.
We waited 15 minutes after being sat for waiter to come by. At his first stop at our table, he asked "are you ready to order dinner". We had no water, hadn't ordered drinks and had no complementary bread. We told him we'd love some water and ordered drinks. After 15 more minutes, we hadn't seen him again, so we left.
the service was good, food was good and came at a timely manner. The atmosphere is always interesting. Only complaint we would have is that we went there to celebrate two birthdays, which we always celebrate together every year. They said happy birthday when we arrived, so they knew about it, but did nothing for the birthdays. We waited a while but didn't want to make a big deal about it, as it would take the celebratory feeling away from the evening.
This used to be the place to meet up with family for special occasions. It was once busy and vibrant. Now the food is okay at best, the service staff is entry level beginners who don't know what service is, and the prices are sky-high. It had been 3 years since my last visit. This may have been our last. How is it possible to get Spaghetti without any sort of sauce and the server not notice? Someone left the spigot open and brewed a large batch of tea. It ran all over the floor. At least 8 employees came to look at it and laugh but not one single person attempted to clean it up while we were there.
Had a large party and service was for the most part attentive. Food was great and waiters were available for refills. Paying the bill was difficult to say the least. Many items on bill were incorrect and it took a few tries and at least 15-20 minutes to get that corrected.
Rule of thumb - a customer should never have to wait to pay their bill.
Buca continues to please. We enjoy an occasional early Sunday dinner here - and have lots of food to take home for later.
This visit happened to be on Valentine's Day, and we witnessed the GM making a problem at an adjacent table completely disappear. Apparently the promotional heart-shaped lasagna had filled the ovens, and the normal lasagna wasn't ready when the table ordered it around 1 pm. With two very disappointed young ladies at the table, the attentive server must have reported the problem to the GM. The GM fixed the issue, providing a complimentary heart-shaped lasagna at the same price as the normal order - a considerably larger portion for the price. Nicely handled!
We had a party is 8 with 3 kids and most of the time all of our drinks were empty. It took asking twice to get oil with our bread and he gave one small plate for all 8 to share. Wasn't the best service or the worst but it didn't seem overly crowded to be forgotten.
Typically we have a very good experience at this restaurant/location. But on this particular night things were slightly off. Food wasn't as good as normal. Service was adequate. Not to mention, the horrible smell in the building. It smells like something from the 60s. So, interesting experience this particular time.
We were at a band concert for my daughter with my parents and needed a place to eat on a Friday night. I used the open table app, made my reservation and we did not have to wait once we arrived at the restaurant. Food was excellent, portions where large, service was great and the atmosphere was good for all ages.
We had a horrible experience on Christmas and left without eating, so we were a little reluctant to return to this location. Fortunately, when we got there this time we were settled within 5 minutes of our reservation time. The service was prompt. We ordered our favorite dishes, baked ziti and chicken limone, and they were the usual quality. I was nice to stop by Buca for a pleasant family dinner.
This was the worst experience at a restaurant in a very very long time. We had a reservation at 6:30pm. We arrived around 6ish and was told that they were running 45 minutes behind. We went and got drinks from the bar and there were numerous set empty tables that could have seated the many families waiting outside the restaurant. After waiting well over an hour we asked how much longer and we were told they were unsure and it could be another hour. Once we heard this we decided to see if we could do takeout. They had cutoff take out orders and there was a gentlemen waiting to speak to the manager (he had placed his takeout order way in advance). My father decided to go speak to someone and they were telling another family that their were still 5:30p reservations waiting to be seated... and that they never cut off their online reservations so people were making reservations the day of Christmas. We decided to go eat at the hotel that my family was staying at since it was so late and not a lot of other places were open. Nobody that worked at the restaurant seemed to care that they were ruining peoples Christmas and they are unapologetic to their guests. This would have been my first Bucca di Beppo experience and it will be my last...
We had a 6:30 reservation on Christmas Day. We didn't get seated till 7:30. They way overbooked reservations. When we finally got seated, the service was good and the food was much better than I thought it was going to be due to being so busy. However, they were out of a lot of menu items...
We has a reservation for 6 pm and arrived at 5:30 we did not get sat until 7:30. We also were not able to order the food we wanted because the restaurant ran out of many items on the menu by 6. We ordered our food which we only received 3 of the 4 items ordered and my daughter kids pizza was instead placed as a small pizza. We were not that upset because our sever was very apologetic and we understood its a holiday and they are very busy.
I believe the restaurant overbooked their holiday reservations and were not prepared for the holiday and over worked there staff by not giving them breaks antiquity which causes mistakes to be made. Hopefully next year they will be prepared.
Our experience was not bad, I come from a family in the restaurant business and had worked in the business for many years. I know there were many other customers more upset and our party.
Booked a 5:30p reservation for Christmas evening for our family of 4. We arrived a few minutes early and we were told there would be a 45 minute wait (a minimal wait for a reservation is OK, but not expected). After 90 minutes, our family was finally seated (where else are we going to go at 7p to start waiting for dinner??) Come to find out the restaurant was not full. In fact, in the tiny bar area (where we stood and waited for our 1 1/2 hours) there were FOUR(!!) empty tables. the bar staff was unattentive and kind of rude to most of the patrons. When we were finally seated in another room, only 2 of the 8 tables had patrons seated, 6 empty tables! Bucca was simply WAY understaffed. Further, they were out of many common items like: Lasagne, MEATBALLS???, and Veal parmigiana. Our waiter was fine. he had to be asked for things like silverware (we had none), plates, drinks, he only brought 3 out of 4, but he was quick when asked. We chose Bucca because they were open and because they took reservations. also, we chose them because we did the same thing last year and had a much better experience. We would have been much better off going somewhere else. Maggiano's has our Italian dining business going forward. I have rarely ever been this frustrated for a dining experience.
Buca di Beepo was only 1 a select few restuarants open on Christmas Day. Despite having reservations, we still had to wait for over an hour to be seated. As we walked through the restaurant to our table, we noticed that there were many tables open and waiting to be seated yet were for some reason not being used. They also ran out of some very basic menu items such as meatballs, lasagna, chicken/veal parmigana. Our waitress was very responsive and provided great service despite some of the challenges she faced.
