BITES Ratings and Reviews
Food was amazing. Crab Rangoon puffs great. The chicken sliders delicious and filling. Rasp lemonade not so great. Very sweet and dint taste like any Tito’s in it
Service was horrible. From getting greeted to getting drinks it took way too long. Food came out fast. Sushi was delayed so canceled order bc took too long
Great food. Cute place. Bad service. U decide
Back porch was a wonderful place to sit. The food was great - loved the tofu ramen and the rolls we ordered. The day we went had half price bottles of wine which my girlfriends and I loved! Our waitress was quiet which made her difficult to understand but we got through it.
My husband and I have only been to one other tapas restaurant in the city. We were trying to come up with a new date night location to switch it up a little and we found Bites Asian Tapas & Sushi! It was incredible. We ordered the soft shell crab sliders, the roasted duck bao, the crying tiger, the cookie dough chopsticks, and an order of shrimp (can't remember what it was called).
My favorite was the crying tiger skirt steak. I don't really even like steak and I can't wait to go back and order it again!
Staff was friendly. Thanks again!
We had dinner here prior to Lady Gaga concert. Great location, walking distance to Wrigley field. The food was very good but the service was very very slow. Considering they knew about Friday night/ concert rush, you'd hope they would have more staff to accomodate. Waited over 20 mins for cocktails. And longer wait for apps & sushi.
The food was very tasty. I liked the incorporation of jalapeño into a lot of the maki rolls. We also happened to be there for a bogo 1/2 price maki special. Really delicious. They were playing a great, relaxing mix of music on records. The drinks looked fun, but our group was not drinking.
I want so badly to give Bites a good review because everything we ate was delicious. But the bad service ruined the good food. It took nearly 30 minutes to get two beers and two glasses of wine because the bar was "backed up" when none of our drinks required any measuring or mixing. We shared a bunch of small plates but never got one of the first ones we ordered. (It was eventually removed from the bill.) They did bring some sushi to try to make up for it, but the service never improved. Also, restaurants should always increase the number of pieces on a small plate menu so everyone can try a piece - or at least inform the diners of how many come in an order so they can decide. We won't be back.
Made a reservation for 12 to celebrate a birthday. Drinks at the bar, while waiting for more of our group to arrive, each took 20 minutes which seemed excessive and a bit of an ominous sign of things to come.
Getting our drink orders for the whole group took nearly 40 minutes. Half the group ordered sushi and the other half had "hot" meals on the bigger plates menu.
The hot food arrived a full 40 minutes before the sushi. The birthday girl was the last person served her sushi and all of us awkwardly had to watch her eat.
We complained and were told that since we were a big group, it couldn't be helped. Unacceptable!
We were told that the birthday girl's dinner would be comped. They bright out saki bombs and fried banana. THOSE were comped. The dinner, we were told would be free, was still charged.
All said, we were there for over 3 hours and watched 2 tables behind us get served and leave in the time it took us to finally have everyone fed.
Avoid this restaurant if you have more than 3 people. It's a shame. It could've been good.
We sat on the patio which was nice, but 35 minutes after being seated we still didn't even have our drinks after having to ask for a waitress to even come to our table. My husband went in to inquire as to what was going on and the waitresses were standing around at the bar. Food was good but again took far too long to get an order and some items were cold. The drinks were on the house because of how long it took which was a nice gesture but not enough to bring me back.
The food was delicious, cocktails amazing, friendly service and a beautiful patio. The langoustine special (though beautifully presented) was a little difficult to eat because they came in the shell. So you had to pull the meat out of the shell and then reassemble the bite, but it tasted amazing once it was put back together.
Will definitely go back.
I will never return to this restaurant! We went here last night (Memorial Day) and the experience was awful but the handling of it by the manager made it even worse. The server was awful and often didn't understand what we were ordering. She left before we could order drinks and rarely came back to check on us, despite being the only ones on the patio and almost only ones in the restaurant. We ordered several different bao (one of which never came) and they put the duck one on the same plate as the vegetarian one which we didn't know so my MIL, who is vegetarian, started to eat the duck one and then realized the problem and completely lost her appetite. When I pointed this confusion out to the server and wondered why they would put a vegetarian bao on the same plate (they were different orders), they didn't know what to do. When we arrived we were told they had a buy one get one deal on small plates so we ordered a bunch, only to find (when we get the bill) the deal was really only on the cheapest options so we saved a couple bucks. Not a big deal, but very misleading. I made a reservation on the phone for the patio and arrived to have to wait and watch them to set the tables up and wipe them down. Each of these issues would have not been that big of a deal had the manager handled the mistake of the bao and been more clear on the BOGO offer up front rather than me having to point out the problems. When I spoke to her alone to let her know how frustrating our whole experience had been, she didn't know what to do and finally reimbursed one bao after having to think about it for 10 minutes. I have worked in the industry for many years and the way this was handled indicates such poor management. I would like to say I enjoyed the food, but the whole experience was truly awful. Don't go here!
We noticed this place on open table, hadnt heard about it. Was in the neighborhood, booked a table. Food looked interesting and reviews were great.
The food was just not good. Weird combinations (teriyaki steak with ginger and mozzarella), oily/greasy, low quality meat with weird texture.. We didn't finish.
Service was nice and music was good.
I want to love this places, but the last three time we have been there the service was just so bad more no good reason (never crowded but takes 20 minutes after being seated for someone to acknowledge you). I ordered a sushi roll, appetizer, and a cocktail. Sushi roll came out eventually (again not crowded, there were only two additional tables dining in the restaurant). When I asked about my cocktail and appetizer, the waitress said "oh we are making them now". More time passes, still nothing so I ask again. She goes to the kitchen then comes back with my appetizer. Still no drink, so I ask a third time, finally get the cocktail I ordered about 40 minutes after I ordered it and halfway through my food. Paid my bill with two $20 bills and explained that I needed change back (the total was just under $22. She said ok but I didn't see her again for 20 minutes and when she came by she said "need anything else before you go?" I said yes my change please. Which se eventually brought me another 10 minutes later. It was as if she hoped I would get tired of waiting for change and just leave her an $18 tip on a $22 meal. The whole bad experience took just less than two hours, for a cocktail, sushi roll and app , on a Thursday evening with two other tables. Ridiculous, way too many better options in the area!
Literally such a great spot! Thursday's are $5 cocktails and half off sushi, so we ate and drank like kings for $50. The service was very attentive without being overbearing and it's a really cute restaurant. Definitely suggest to other people to check out!
