While the food was good the way the restaurant seating was created was horrible. I must have had a server step or trip over my feet at least every few minutes. The back of the chairs were no more than 4-6" from the next table and this was throughout Ethe restaurant! The dishes are meant to be shared somewhat like a tapas but the tables could hardly hold 4 1/2 servings.

Five of us went for dinner. This is a great restaurant for a group of people as the dishes are meant for sharing. The service was great. It is a little loud where we were seated and somewhat difficult to hear each other, but we had fun anyway.

We sat in the front adjacent to the outdoor seating. We ordered the fondue to start. It's hard to hear up there which may not be true in the main area. We loved everything about it otherwise!! The food is delicious and also a nice variety to choose from.

Food quality subpar in every regard but the young crowd and local business types seemed to love the energy of this place. Dry meatballs, bland bolognese, etc didn't seem to bother the youngsters who populate this place but a more discerning diner will pass it up.

A local rec. this restaurant. They couldn't be more correct!!!!! This was amazing restaurant. It meet all three legs of dining. The food was outstanding, the waite staff was knowledgable, and the atmosphere was lively and nicely decorated. It was a little noisy but the amazing food drowns out the sound. This is a must. The food was excellent as was the service. We were on the second level, which was very loud. We had two bachelorette parties and another large group in one room making it difficult to carry on conversation with the parties at our table. However, this would not stop me from coming back.

Took my daughter and son in law for dinner and had a great evening. Food was excellent with the Squid dish and the tagliatelle bolongnese being highlights. Wine list was great and bargain priced. Service excellent

Went for my favorite dessert' Profiteroles. Pleasantly surprised by the salmon; never received the eggplant. Husband was somewhat disappointed with the veal slider. He usually orders the veal meatballs. His pasta was huge. Plenty for leftovers.

I am from another state, Colorado, wanted to experience authentic Italian cooking.
A very fun place full of activity, loud yet fun and not out of control. Even though it was crowded and people were waiting, the wait staff and servers were polite and attentive.
I had the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese. It was excellent, from my first bite I could taste that the ingredients were very fresh. The texture of the handmade pasta along with the pure taste of the tomato and meat sauce was to die for! It reminded me of home cooking and the sauce my grandma used to make. There was a lot of flavor in each bite. The chicken soup was good too! For desert we had the tiramisu, so delicious, a big portion, not too sweet.
They had the original movie, The Italian Job, playing in the background on TV's, Nice touch!

We went to Quartino before a Hawks game on a Saturday night. Traffic was horrid and we were almost thirty minutes late for our reservation. The host was very understanding and sat us quickly, we waited maybe 3 minutes.
The server was outstanding, her knowledge of the menu was very helpful and all of her recommendations were spot on. The food came out hot and not too fast, allowing us to finish one dish before moving on to the next. The tables that seat two are tiny but the servers make sure that they are always clearing dishes as they are walking even if it's not their table. So we never ran out of room. I highly recommend Quartino!

I LOVE QUARTINOS! I go every week or so. The ambiance is so fun, cozy, and authentic. But also feels classy with the old movies. The service is genuine and the food is phenomenal. So fresh and homemade! I love that every time I go a manager stops by to greet us. Thank you for the special experiences!!

My wife traveled to Chicago with girl friends for a get away trip and chose Quartino's for a dinner. They all had a very pleasant experience and absolutely Loved the food. It was a first time visit and they will all return on the next trip to Chicago.

We had a great dinner at Quartino. The food was great and the staff terrific - friendly, helpful, engaged -- all around awesome.
The food was excellent - we loved the meatballs, the ravioli, the minestrone soup. And the desserts were unbelievable.

Even though we live in Alaska, Quartino's is our "go-to" spot in Chicago. Love the wine and food. The duck prosciutto is incredibly good. The host a large number of people and the noise level can be tough, making it hard to converse.

Worst service ever. We came to carbo load before the marathon with a party of 5 people. Upon being seated, we were told by our server that because they were so busy, items would be taking 30-plus minutes to come out. So we ordered cocktails, and while we waited for them to be delivered gave our waiter our initial order anticipating a long wait. We received our drinks and not one minute later, half of our order was delivered-no time to enjoy our cocktails. A few minutes after that, the rest of our food arrived...all within minutes of being seated. Our server never came back to check on us. We had to flag him down for wine and then he hovered over us after we had finished eating (which was not even 30 minutes later) we were discussing dessert and he was in the distance listening and asked if we wanted anything else for dessert? We hadn't even finished our wine which we could not enjoy with our meal. My husband turned around and said no. He returned within two minutes with the dessert we had been discussing and the check. So we sat there and talked and talked and talked and occupied the table because we were so angry. We will NEVER visit Quartino again.

I visited Quartino on a recommendation this past weekend with a group of friends, the night before the Chicago Marathon. Part of the appeal was that it could handle a crowd (and seated 600) so I thought it would be a good fit on a busy weekend. It was fine. Good. The food was good, but not great, though it could have been on a quieter night. One of my friends didn't receive his dinner until more than a half hour after the rest of the group. We were warned it would come out as it became ready, but it was cavatelli and shouldn't have taken SO much longer. We also never received an appetizer we ordered, which was fine -- we didn't miss it -- but was an oversight. The server was nice enough to send us a free dessert. Again, it was fine. Next time I would look for a smaller restaurant, as the staff simply seemed overwhelmed.

I love Quartino! It was my second time there last week! It's a go to even if I don't always book through Open Table! We even had the same waitress! Wonderful. Sometimes the noise level can be a slight turn off. Only complaint!
I wish Gibsons Group would take over the former Japonais space....a second Quartino???

Quartino is great for groups, small and large. The staff are energetic and friendly and quick to recommend dishes for those who can't decide. The food, small plates of deliciousness, like the veal meatballs with house made ricotta, wild arugula salad with orange slices and faro, tagliatelle alla bolognese, and braised lamb shank, are perfect for sharing. The noise level is a bit loud, but I guess it's to be expected when the restaurant is extremely popular and cavernous in size.

This was a fantastic experience! First meal in Chicago after a plane ride, and everyone was exhausted an grumpy - until we got seated. Service was tremendous, and the Italian food was as good as any we've had anywhere (including Italy). Pomodoro sauce was nonpareil, as were meatballs and eggplant part. And the two desserts we chose - Italian doughnut with chocolate sauce and profiteroles in hot fudge with vanilla ice cream - were just spectacular.

We reserved a big party and I expected a table to seat about 20 people. I even spoke with the restaurant multiple times.
When more than half my party arrived on time, the table wasn't ready. On top of that, they split up our tables so that we didn't even sit together. What's the point of a reservation? The servers were nice but rushed us completely. Our waiter rushed us but the waitress was nice and pleasant. She was the only highlight.
Outside of ruining my wife's birthday, the food is mediocre. There are plenty of other good choices and we only came here because this was the first place we met. But if we were picking for any other reason such as food, service, and ambiance, we would've chosen any place else. This is the last time we are going here and will be sure to tell all of our friends to avoid it. Severely overrated.
