We absolutely loved it. The food was terrific. I REALLY recommend the pimento fritters. You can also go next door to the bar. There is an upstairs seating area that is quiet and looks out over the street. Great place to kick back and relax.

We had a wonderful dinner here. It was so fun dining inside of a historic home too. The grilled pork chop with collard greens and sweet potato gnocchi was fantastic, as was the fried chicken my husband ordered. The peanut butter pie was rich and tasty as well. A great place to have dinner if you're in Charleston.

Really wanted to love this restaurant. A friend recommended it, plus we read the positive reviews on Trip Advisor. Alas, it was a disappointing experience. We were seated in a drab room, right under the air conditioner, which blasted us. I ordered the pork chop which was tough and hard to chew. My husband ordered the Wahoo fish which was dry and tasteless. The redeeming factor was the she-crab soup which was most divine. Service was excellent.

8 of us met at Poogan's Porch for lunch. The guys were a little disappointed that there was no beer on tap but we found that was common in Charleston. We enjoyed the cheese pimento balls as an appetizer. They were out of pulled pork so 3 of us had the short rib sandwich. A very large sandwich was served w/chips or fries. 1 ordered a cheeseburger and it was huge! 1 ordered the fried chicken sandwich and that was also a generous size. The fried chicken bites over salad was good. 1 with dietary restrictions was happy w/a broiled salmon and edamame plate. I ordered grilled shrimp over the wedge salad and compared to the other lunchers, it was skimpy. The shrimp could have had more flavor and I've been served 1/4 of a head of lettuce w/all of the additional trimmings like bacon bits, blue cheese, etc before. This salad didn't even fill a regular sized plate. Overall the service was great and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. It was in a great location but unfortunately we never got to see more of the other rooms of restaurant. There are many dining areas in the restaurant but we missed seeing them. Be sure to arrive for lunch before 2:30 as it closes to prepare for the dinner crowd. It was a little pricey for drinks and lunch, but we enjoyed our meal and would recommend it.

Great local place with some interesting history. We learned from a ghost tour that this place is haunted! Besides that the food is excellent...service very friendly and good prices. Unfortunately we did not see Zoe. Maybe next time.

Decided to come for Sunday brunch because it was highly recommended and had great reviews. Service was extremely slow, water smelled like sewer and we couldn't drink it, and it was hot inside. My cocktail was all liquor so I sent it back. The shrimp and grits were one texture (porridge-like), made my stomach hurt. My boyfriend enjoyed his fried chicken salad and the she-crab soup was good, but we were ready to leave as soon as we finished eating. The best part of the meal were the biscuits with honey butter.

The food and service were outstanding. It was like stepping back in time to a beautiful southern home. However, the food was anything but traditional. My description would be southern cooking with a modern flair. The menu is good but the specials are worth the trip!

A Friday night dinner revealed how popular this restaurant is. The serving staff was stretched at this time and consequently, the service was longer than one would have expected. This led to error in our wine order and food sitting under the heat lamps longer than it should have. A medium rare steak became closer to medium as a result.

My husband and I came here for our 2 year anniversary. It was amazing. Our server was great and made our experience that much better! The food was phenomenal. We started with the pimento cheese fritters. Those were absolutely delicious!! I also ordered a cup of the she crab soup which was very tasty. The last starter we ordered was the mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was very yummy but I honestly wouldn't order it again. It was good, but it wasn't amazing (like those cheese fritters!) I ordered the short rib entree and the whole dish was so flavorful.
Great anniversary dinner! Will be back!!

Way over priced, wine list extremely expensive, food over seasoned (too salty), mediocre experience at best. My husband did say his steak was prepared to his liking. Too many wonderful and reasonable dining choices in Charleston to enjoy. Service was good. We will not be eating there again ever.

We arrived for lunch with a reservation.
Seating was by the busing station. Waiter was excellent. We ordered the shrimp and grits and the fried chicken salad.
Half way through the meal I was chewing on something narrow and hard. I thought it was a stem. I placed it in a napkin. Then I had another bite and it happened again so now I inspected. It was hard shreds of plastic. I found several more pieces on my plate. Bottom line we told the waiter who was mortified. But no manager came over and the outcome was we didn't pay for that meal.
So I left hungry and had to pay for everything except the plastic shred salad. I strongly feel the restaurant could have been more accommodating. I could have gotten in lodged in my throat. No Southern Hospitality Here. It was also our 25 year Anniversary which they knew.

Third time here and it was wonderful again. Great appetizers, food, drinks and service. If you're visiting charleston definitely add this place to your list. I would recommend making a reservation! Try the pimiento appetizer and fried green tomatoes!

Very over rated. Nothing special about the food at all, in fact, I've had better waffles pretty much everywhere. Shrimp and grits was mediocre. Service was not good- I had to flag down the waitress every time I needed a refill on my coffee and water. Much better brunch options at a much better price all over the city.

We have dined at Poogan's Porch many times in the past, and were so looking forward to visiting again, but were incredibly disappointed in our entire experience. If this had been our first visit we would not go back a second time. We waited 10+ minutes to be acknowledged by our server, it took him another 20 minutes to bring a cup of coffee, which he brought without cream, and by the time he came back with cream the coffee was cold. 2 cups of soup took an additional 10 minutes (30 minutes from when we ordered) and the rest of our food came right after that. None of the food was great and we finally had to ask the bus boy to find our waiter for the check because he never came back to see how our food was.

This is one of the classic restaurants everyone seems to recommend. Its good, not great. Worth a try if you're passing by but nothing was outstanding. I will say that the service was very good we loved the fried green tomatoes.

We were referred here by a friend, a friend I will forever trust to recommend restaurants! Our server was super sweet and the foodwas phenomenal. Best fried chicken EVER! Other notable menu selections are Shrimp and Grits, Fried Green Tomatoes, Pimento Cheese Fritters. As this restaurant is three hours from, my waistline should be safe for now. Great bang for the buck!

The lunch we had here was great. The service was average, the server was distracted, we had to ask for a second plate because we were splitting our orders so we could experience more of the selections. The server did not ask if we wanted desert, she just showed up with the check. The bus service staff was great.
