About Piropos Restaurant
The taste of Argentina is very American Midwestern. The foods of its capital city, Buenos Aires, are steaks, grilled meats, seafood, fresh salads and vegetables. Argentineans enjoy dining in a generally relaxed atmosphere where conversation and gracious dining go hand-in-hand. Piropos Restaurant, on the hill in Briarcliff Village, offers a unique view, warm atmosphere and fresh foods prepared in the Argentinean style. ***PLEASE NOTE: WHEN MAKING RESERVATIONS PIROPOS CANNOT RESERVE WINDOW TABLES. THEY MAY BE REQUESTED UPON ARRIVAL, BUT CANNOT BE GUARANTEED. Thank you.

Piropos Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We were celebrating our daughter's birthday. She had the pork chops and raved about them. My husband had the beef filet and said it was wonderful. My experience was less than exciting. I had the crab bisque. It was very thin and didn't taste like the same thing I had had five months. previously. They were kind enough to take it off the bill. Because we were dining early I ordered an appetizer as my entree. The large scallops wrapped in bacon were large and tasty, but the bacon was still raw. Our desserts were good; cheesecake, flan and the specialty pastel de banana couldn't be beaten.
Management did not have their act together. We had a 6:30 reservation, no room in the bar to wait and did not get seated until 7:10. Getting ready to leave and huge commotion back by our table then up at the hostess desk. Not sure what was going on but detracted from out attempt to enjoy the evening.
steak was not medium but very rare. Wine not served until after we reminded waitress.
food here is very good and is worth coming for dinner, but younger wait staff should be better trained on how to serve wine and expect better service with higher priced food.
Overall food is absolutely great, but younger wait staff not as good
Really loved this place. Tried several different empanadas and was pleasantly surprised by the flakiness of the crust. My husband tried the Chicken Oregano with mashed potatoes. I had the Linguini Carbonara. Both dishes were seasoned and cooked to perfection. The service was impeccable. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and we felt the staff went above and beyond to make our night even more special. Thank you! We will definitely be back.
This was a special birthday dinner celebration. I specifically requested a table by the windows and made reservations for 7:30. Upon arrival at 7:15 we were informed that they would were running late due to a large party that was lingering. They informed us that our wait would be approximately 1 hour. We waited in the bar and ordered wine by the glass. At a little after 8:00 we were quite hungry and asked the bartender if we could expect a complimentary appetizer due to the mismanagement. She said she would check with her manager. Never leaving the bar area and speaking to no one, she returned and told us “no”...awesome customer service and honesty there!
After nearly an hour wait after our arrival with a reservation in hand, we were seated at a two top behind a wall away from the main dining room. Long story short, we ended up sitting at three different tables before settling in in the main dining area (away from the windows). Our waiter was extraordinarily unattentive. We ordered an expensive bottle of wine and we ended up literally pouring ourselves our own glasses ( not exactly what you expect as part of a fine dining special occasion). The food was fabulous- no complaints whatsoever. However, the service and attention to detail was very subpar. The manager in his attempt to explain the wait was insisting that he personally called each reservation in advance to tell them they were running late. This simply did not happen.
Very disappointing to say the least.
Great food with an Argentinian flair, including the wonderfully paced dining experience - there is time to enjoy a glass of wine, then an appetizer, some more wine, a salad, some wine, the entree......a drastic change from most places where food is rushed out, sometimes all at once.
7 pm reservation told would be 715 came to get us earlier and before we got there gave our table to big group. waited 20 min. for another table, seated 25 min. late. Service good, food good, sat next to large noisy group. Not the evening we were looking forward to.
We decided to spend Thanksgiving 2017 here for dinner. They did offer a traditional Thanksgiving dinner special, but we actually wanted the Argentinian menu. The empanadas were good, the bacon-wrapped scallops were excellent, the crab bisque was excellent, the caprese salad was fair (the mozarella was very good, but the tomatoes were hot-house hard and tasteless; plus tomatoes should never be chilled, which these were, because low temperatures destroys their flavor). My husband said the prime rib special was very good; my mother thoroughly enjoyed the salmon, my son and my brother had the shrimp and steak and said it was very good. I had the blackened halibut; the fish was perfectly cooked, but the spice rub was too salty; the lobster risotto and julienned vegetables were very good. We were seated at a window facing the downtown KC skyline; the view was nice, but with the sun shining through the south-facing window, it was very hot! If I had realized this, I would not have worn a sweater. :-)
This was our first time at the Piropos at this location. We had eaten at the Parkville location years ago. The Briarcliff location is very convenient. I wish we'd realized before now that it existed here. We would have eaten here more frequently. We will return.
The host wished my date happy birthday as we arrived. The shared steak entree was prepared to perfection.
The wine list has all the usual suspects but is peppered with several interesting options.
The dinner ended with a free birthday dessert and a happy birthday wish for my date.
Piropos remains one of our favorite restaurants for date night.
We took our daughter and granddaughter for a birthday supper. Our granddaughter was the only toddler in the restaurant but everyone from hostess to waitstaff were very accommodating. My wife had the tilapia, daughter the salmon and I the beef medallions. Portions were ample and cooking and seasoning was very well done. Everyone was pleased. Salad, entree and desert ( birthday duh!) was too much but a great experience . Service was impeccable. Very nice evening
What a lovely setting to celebrate a birthday or anniversary. Outstanding chop salad, sidedishes and dessert. The steak was average to above. Could have been a bit more aged for better tenderness. (We've yet to score a window seat, but will return and try again for a window.)
We went on a whim and were not disappointed. The food was great, service was great as well. Justin knew a lot about the menu and drinks. He was able to give us great input on what were the specialties. We took some of his suggestions on appetizers and cocktails and were impressed with the quality of the drinks,.. well played bartender, well played.
Pricing is as expected for a fine dining experience. This is a good value for the quality of food, service & drink. There are definitely lesser values in the immediate vicinity - I will leave them out of this review.
The only thing that could have been different was the seating, I sat facing my lady as she got the view of downtown ( I had the better view, in my opinion ;). Knowing how many great seats there are, I will definitely ask for a booth or window table with city view when making reservations next time.
Overall, it was a great first experience and I have and will continue to suggest to my friends and colleagues. Well done, you have a great team and I cant wait to come again for a visit.
