Pepper Tree Restaurant Ratings and Reviews

This restaurant is an outstanding one in the business. If there was a 8 star restaurant this would be a 10. My wife and I have patronizing there for over 10 years now and we have never had a meal that was not superbly prepared and delicious. I have taken many friends to the Pepper Tree and they also have enjoyed a culinary fantastic experience. I and my wife cannot express in words the great food at this restaurant. You must attend and enjoy. Please don't change anything. We will continue to enjoy our future dining pleasure at the Pepper tree.

This is a classic restaurant in Colorado Springs. I have enjoyed the Pepper Steak off and on since 1991. It is expensive, but for that occasional meal, it is worthwhile. The food is outstanding and the service impeccable.

I saw this was highly rated and when we arrive the first impression was very poor. The service and food was very good. I had 6 people with me and 3 of us wanted the dover sole. They were out. The wine we ordered only had one bottle. We went with plan b and the first bottle was bad, Silver Oak....unbelievable. The pepper steak was very good also the sea bass. You really have few picks in this town. Stay with the restaurants at the Broadmoor if that is your home base.

The food was outstanding, particularly the Dover Sole and Steak Diane. Our British friends praised the Sole and said it was better than what they get in England! The house Malbac was smooth and paired well with all our entrees. The table side preparation of flaming Cherries Jubilee and Bananas Foster were the perfect desserts to top a delightful evening with our friends on their last evening in the States.

We were not impressed. The ambiance is severely lacking. No music, and our table by the window overlooked a shopping center with Hobby Lobby being the most prominent feature. The waiter who took our wine order had no idea what we were ordering. There must have been 6 different waiters who brought us various things but it just felt like they were all going through the motions. When the signature dish was being prepared there was no presentation or explanation. They came to the table and started the steak cooking then left while the steak cooked, came back and turned it, and finally finished it off and served it. We had the signature pepper steak which was quite good. However the scalloped potatoes served with it were dry and tasteless. We liked the fact that you can choose the weight of your steak. However, we were expecting a "dining experience" and did not get it. Would not recommend or go back because of price and feeling like they just didn't care.

This place is a best a dive. 30 years in business and it shows, metal, wobbly tables, ancient chairs, wrinkled table cloths, plastic, Lucite Walmart, Salt and Pepper sets, wilted flowers on table, waiters wearing stained tuxedos, etc. House salad, wilted Romaine letters, 1/4 tomato cut into two 1/8 slices, 5 or 6 pieces cucumber cut into squares the size of peas, toped with a spoonful of shredded carrot. Served warmed up plain bread, 6oz flambéed steak with peppered mango sauce that was so sweet that it overpowered the flavor of the steak; baked potato with fixings, and garnished with dried parsley that crumbled when picked up. All in all mediocre food, in an unpleasant stuffy and old atmosphere. At $39.95 plus extra $2.00 for potato topping, per person, minimum that can be ordered very disappointing. Prices advertised on website 10 to 15% higher in person. I refuse to call this place a restaurant, it is just not deserving of it. Who serves wilted lettuce and dried parsley? Worst and most overpriced dump in all of Colorado Springs. Anyone that thinks that this a good place to eat has either no/faulty taste buds and NO class.

Lobster cocktail was disappointing-not enough lobster and too much money-28$
Filet Mignon steaks were reported to be USDA Prime-No Way, too much fat
Roasted red potatoes were overdone-dark and crunchy
Overall price for drinks and food was 15% above what it should have been
I've eaten here about 8 times over past 10 years and usually liked the experience,
but it is no longer a good value. Won't be back. It is too much money for what you get.

The Peppertree has been one of our favorites for many years; however we were shocked at the increase in prices this time! I don't mind paying for excellent service and excellent food, but $79.95 for a Rack of Lamb?!? We are meat lovers and dine at nice steakhouses all over the country and this is the first time I have seen lamb that high. The beef has increased as well!
We may be looking for another place to celebrate birthdays.

Phenomenal experience as usual
Haven't been there in awhile but the steels were every bit as awesome as I remembered... Bananas foster too! Brought some out of town guests and they were treated to two buck mule deer right outside the window!
Only snag and the reason for loss of a star is that we couldn't seem to get a bottle of red wine. the first two bottles my guest chose were not in stock?! And when he finally found one the pour ended up dripping on the table and he got a little on him.
Other than that, service was as awesome as I remembered with the table side preparation.

The food was good, the service was good once they finally showed up at our table. We were left siting at our table while the lady who seated us made excuses why no one showed up until she finally took our drink order. No one should be left sitting without service while someone makes excuses about why.

We must of passed this restaurant many times and never knew it was a restaurant until it was recommended to us by a friend as a fine dining restaurant. We came and loved the food and service. We plan to go again in the near future. Thanks for a great experience.

As always great food and experience. Took 3 out-of-towners and they cleaned their plates. Definitely very impressed and these were people used to fine dining. The Pepper Tree didn't disappoint us in any way. Expect to spend but well worth it.

Im a beef producer and have eaten in steak houses throughout the US and the world, and I rate Peppertree among the very top for their pepper steak and steak Diane. I can't think of a comparison other than maybe Wagyu and Kobe beef in Japan. Peppertree is my Number 1!

Overall we enjoyed our evening at the Peppertree. We appreciated that the wait staff was very attentive and worked as a group. We did not feel rushed to hurry through our dinner so that our table could be used for other diners. What a change from a lot of the restaurants we have visited lately. We ordered pepper steak and steak diane. The appetizers were on par. The pepper steak is a signature item and good; however, the star of the evening was the steak diane with it's wonderful sauce. A surprise hit was the entree's accompanying salad with butter lettuce and a delightful homemade dressing. A dessert of creme brulee could have been better with more vanilla and less torching of the sugar. We plan to return to sample other items from the menu.

Our first time to this restaurant and we were very impressed, the service was above expectations and the food was totally awesome.. I had the Dover sole that was boned at table side, a beautiful presentation. My husband had the pepper steak which is their specialty and what their are known for. Both of our meal where outstanding in both taste and tenderness.
As a bonus, we were treated to an ambiance of elk roaming outside the windows of the restaurant . What a delight !!! ... We will definitely return again when in the Colorado Springs area.

Great dining experience as always. My wife and I have been here on more than one occasion and have always left satisfied. The pepper steak is a must have! I've swayed from this choice only to try other things and in the end, always end up wishing I would have ordered the pepper steak. Their desserts are also fantastic! The cherry jubilee and bananas foster are two of their greats.
The staff is very courteous and always ensure the evening is pleasant. More than one cook will rotate between the tables while your dinner is prepared but it doesn't interrupt your evening.
The only negative thing I have to comment on is directed towards some of the patrons.. This is more of a personal annoyance than anything but I digress.. Show more appreciation towards the waiters/waitresses and cooks. They work very hard and sometimes patrons don't acknowledge that they're even there. Common etiquette when dining should be expected no matter where you choose to dine. A thank you can go a long way. Sending back a glass of water because they added a lemon is a bit ridiculous (unless you're allergic, and this wasn't the case). Being upset about your table option when you were lucky enough to get in without a reservation is also ridiculous.
Other than that the food, restaurant, and staff were all terrific.

We have gone to the peppers tree three or four times a year for the last 25 years. This was the first time we had a very mediocre meal. We always left the restaurant smiling and commenting on how good the food tasted, not this time. The service was excellent but the food quality was well below our expectations based on our prior experience.

The Pepper Tree provides great food and service...although at a high price. We had not been to the Pepper Tree in several years and was surprised to discover that although the Web Site says the restaurant asks for Business Casual dress, over half the men in the restaurant were wearing either jeans or shorts. When we last attended the PepperTree the dress code was adhered to. The fact that the Pepper Tree permits jeans and shorts reduces the ambiance and can spoil the "special occasions". The Pepper Tree needs to either update their website's dress code or enforce the dress-code.

We were celebrating my in-laws 60th wedding anniversary while on vacation in Colorado Springs. This restaurant was recommended by the owners of the VRBO we were renting and it was wonderful. The food was amazing and they did a fantastic job of making the evening special. I highly recommend the Pepper Tree.

Great food and service and ambiance inside but the view that they are trying to highlight should be improved with some landscaping cleanup and improvement outside the dining window it currently does not match with the price of what you are paying to dine here

The food was excellent, and the service was great. We are in town for our honeymoon, and have already made reservations for a second dinner. We started with the escargot, and we each had the Pepper Steak, which was prepared table side. Both dishes were fabulous. Our servers were attentive and they quickly and courteously answered all our questions. The mood was relaxing and the atmosphere was quiet, which made for easy conversation. Book your reservation and be prepared to be impressed!
