Pepper Tree Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I was taken to the Pepper Tree when I was 13 with my family. It left such an indelible memory, that when I was trying to think of something special for my girlfriend's 25th birthday, something different than our usual haunts, Pepper Tree came to mind. It's been more than a decade since I've been there, but I couldn't tell. Everything was still beautiful and amazingly delicious and memorable.
This wasn't my first time at the Pepper Tree. And it won't be the last. Succulent lobster and melt in your mouth steaks, the food couldn't be better.
The service is the best, from the bus boy to the big boss, everyone was there just for the clients.
I've had the same waiter before, and he's the best.
Food and service can't be beat. Absolutely the best.
This was my second visit to the Pepper Tree and it will definitely NOT be my last.
We were seated virtually as we walked through the door and waited on quickly and professionally the entire stay.
The food was exquisite. When you can cut your steak with a table knife, you know you have a quality meal in front of you.
I'm not a easy person to satisfy when it comes to food, but I found nothing to complain about.
I will be back for more at a later date.
Went to dinner with wife, her twin sister and my son. We all got the pepper steak as usual it was a great treat. The service was excellent, views were memorable at night. The escargot and the lobster appetizers were
A perfect compliment. If you are looking for a place for a special occasion you cannot go wrong with the peppertree is as good as it gets.
We have gone to the Peppertree over the years for our anniversary . It has been a special place for us. Wonderful Pepper Steaks and great how they cook at your table. If you haven't been there, you're missing out on an outstanding meal. Best Steak in town hands down! Thank you Neal! Fred and Una Archuleta
Food was not good, prices were too high. This may have been a great place 20 years ago, but after my one and only experience, I would not return. Friends we were with have been going for years and they would not return either. Very disappointed. $450.00 for 4 people and not pleasantly memorable in any way.
This is a very small venue with only 20 or so tables. The dining area overlooks the city and wild deer can be observed walking around the premise. The waiters are diligent in meeting all needs. The house specialties are prepared table side, on a grill, and the others in the kitchen. Food was wonderful. From steaks to seafood, all was great. The wine list was fabulous as well; even their house picks were perfect. The dress was business casual. It's truly a hidden gem.
Great experience from start to end.
Appetizer was the special lobster melon dish that was phenomenal! Of course had their signature proper steak dish, followed by bananas foster and cherries jubilee. Couldn't have asked for a better dining experience for my parents visit. Highly recommended for special occasion... Even with bigger parties... We had seven
There may be a better restaurant in Colorado Springs, but I have yet to find it. Let me revise that...there may be a better restaurant in the State of Colorado, but I have yet to find it, even after living in the Vail Valley for five years and eating at more than 200 restaurants there. Phenomenal steaks cooked tableside, Caesar Salad and Bananas Foster also prepared tableside. Superior service from people who really seem to enjoy their work, nice night time view of the City, and small enough that the noise level isn't out of control. Make no mistake, this is an expensive meal. Still, I've eaten here several times and every time I do, I leave thinking it was worth every penny. I suppose I could skip the $150 bottle of wine...
I had not been to Peppertree in many years. The pepper steak is exactly the same. Very tender and chutney sauce is so delicious. We ordered the Prix Fixe dinner. Both of us had the 6 oz Peppertree steak. Was disappointed that we could not have the Caesar salad as our salad option, but I do understand that it is a limited menu when you go the Prix Fixe route. My husband chose the wild rice as his starch. It was yummy . I assumed it would be basic wild rice with little taste. I was wrong. Service was decent. The interior decor appears to have not changed in 20 years. Would recommend some updating. Also, exterior definitely needs some work. Grown up vegetation as you enter the building.
For a steakhouse the steak was overcooked-ordered medium rare and got medium well, not to mention, they didn't give you a steak knife. You had to use a butter knife and steaks were not butter knife quality. Creme Brûlée was some of the worst I've ever had, even though it was made "fresh and in-house." Not going back...EVER!
I have eaten there many times and never experienced anything other than great. The new people I have taken there, which had been quite a few, were amazed at the superior taste and quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. After leaving those people have almost always said such things as, "I have been to places I thought were exceptional, but the Pepper Tree is a step or 2 above those."
Food was great. They prepare the pepper steak tableside, which was a unique experience. It was so tender that they don't provide steak knives, but the table knives work just fine.
A few big cons though:
- Just about all of the waiters had filthy clothes. Shirts had dirty cuffs, spots on vests and jackets, and sweat on the collar. Definitely not a professional look at all.
- We ordered a lobster cocktail that was on special. It was amazing, but extremely overpriced for the amount of lobster we received.
We love the restaurant and the food, but our first problem is with the automated (opentable) reservation system. Our first reservation had to be cancelled by phone because the application allowed us to make a reservation while there weren't any tables available. The second reservation only allowed 6PM and 6:15 PM reservations. I had to call the restaurant to find out if a 7PM reservation was available and it was.
