Parlor Market Ratings and Reviews
I travel to Jackson at least once a month and The Parlor Market is ALWAYS on my go-to list places to eat each trip! I get the duck breast with butternut squash puree and Brussels sprouts w/candied bacon and savor every bite! All of the wait staff are good but I prefer to sit at one of Dana's tables.
Food is a highly creative set of variations on southern classics with a strong adherence to being locavore. Oysters on half shell were plump with just the right blend of sweet and briny. Cocktails well done. My pork chop was the juiciest I have ever had. The fried oyster salad featured a half head of romaine lettuce grilled with the oysters and their comeback sauce
First time for lunch. Dining area was smoky so returning to work was tough. Nothing like sitting in meetings smelling like a grill. Food was good but the place was loud for not having very many people in there. The tables are very close to each other so if it is packed, it may be a bit uncomfortable. I will be back.
For some reason this was our least favorite experience from a service standpoint. Maybe he was overwhelmed, maybe he prejudged us as being too young to afford the restaurant? We have eaten here 10+ times over the last year and will continue to return but may ask for a different server.
We've been to parlor Market before and loved it!! This time not so much. Our food was just ok. We had the lamb bolagnese. It was sweet tasting -just ok. I had the red fish which smelled fishy. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. Service was good. Overall just ok. We certainly didn't leave there feeling we had to rush back anytime soon!!
The ambiance was delightful. We had had a cozy table for two couples. Our waitress was attentive and informed about the menu and specials. Our drinks, appetizers and entres all arrived in a timely fashion. The food was delicious. The only downside is that Parlor Market is pricy.
We had a wonderful experience at parlor market. We got the charcuterie (loved) and the mussels and side of grits. Might not get the mussels next time, just preference but delightful and different from your typical Jackson eateries. Our waitress, was wonderful, she remembered us from our last visit over a year ago. She is in nursing School. We sincerely thought she was fabulous and not overbearing but engaging
One of the worst waiter experiences I have ever had. I eat out a lot, and all over the country. Lack of attention. Screwed up my credit card charge. Took 30 minutes to clear up, and it still was not correct. Food was good except for the burger being red/pink and we ordered it medium well. Not even close to medium well, but didn't have time to cook more as we were trying to make a concert. Very disappointed in our experience. Too many other good choices for restaurants to have to wrestle with this.
Parlor market was great. Food was delicious and different. We had duck 2 different ways and the steak was delicious. All the small plates were good. We went there right after they opened and weren't impressed. The 2 times we have been since our initial trip were excellent. They have really got their act together now. One of the best meals I've had in Jackson!
A Valentine dinner. My wife and I eat out often and selected Parlor Market based on past experiences. Overall, a very good dinner. The tuna appetizer was perhaps the best part of the meal Perfect! Their wedge salad is exceptional, too. The duck breast entree I had was good. Not the best I've had, but very good. My wife's filet was also very good. One thing I appreciate is an honest pour of wine - and you get that at Parlor Market. Dinner for two with a glass of wine, a cocktail, and tip was $170, so not inexpensive - but you get what you pay for. We'll be back.
The staff was obnoxious and inattentive and the food was not worth the price. We planned this dinner for our ten year anniversary and it will be unforgettable for the simple fact that we are still laughing at the unbelievable snobbery of the staff. Having a beautiful building and gorgeous bar seems to be it's only saving grace. The new owner would do well to remember that good southern manners go a long way and make a less than great meal a little easier to swallow. When we were asked by the staff at the Old Capitol Inn if we would recommend the Parlor Market to other guests, we were sure to tell them about our experience and the quality of the food.
Went in for lunch and had the deviled eggs with smoked catfish in the filling, followed by the fried oyster salad...both were winners. Dining partner had the duck gumbo and wanted more. We enjoyed it so much we went back that evening for the chefs tasting menu which was wonderful but portions were too large. We could not finish the last two courses.
Food overall was fantastic! The yakamen was a bit salty but the wagyu rib was falling off the bone tender. The oysters Rockefeller were creamy and just so succulent. The duck sausage barely had any fat on it and paired perfectly with the garnish. The pork cheeks were just amazing. Crispy on the outside and so tender and moist on the inside. Just spectacular. I'd go back to Jackson just to stop by Parlor Market!
Our server never came to refill our wine glasses with the bottle we bought, he acted very rushed and when we told him we'd like the desert menu he brought us the check. The meat and cheese plate was good but my redfish had a terrible flavor and was over cooked so I wasn't able to eat more than a couple bites of it. My fiancé's scallops were okay, nothing impressive. Very disappointed and will not be back
We dined here both nights in Jackson. The first night it was outstanding. Our waiter ,Trevor, was on top of everything and helped us order...delicious food.
The second night, the food was delicious but the service went down. From the hostess to the bartender to the waiter...all over booked and not able to keep up
But the food was still an A!
