Oystercatchers Ratings and Reviews

Food selection was extensive and has so much variety. It's a pricey cost for brunch but is worth it. Service was superb. Kevin was very attentive to his customers needs. He makes sure you have everything you need. They are very generous with the champagne and mimosas. There is a bloody mary area with more food.
This is a great place for special occasions. If you have guests you want to impress this is the place to be.
Fresh seafoods, eggs benedicts, omelette station, fresh jumbo shrimps, oysters, mussels, sushi station, salad station, hot meal station, lamb station, lots and lots of desserts 😄

My wife selected Ostercatchers for her birthday dinner. We were accompanied by our close friends who are very much "foodies". We all loved the selection and favors. The executive chef has put together a unique menu that delivered on multiple levels. We had several appetizers that were very tasty. My wife can not eat seafood so she had the chicken which she raved about. Our friends had steaks, pork belly, scallops and I had the tuna... Incredible!
They made the birthday girl feel special without the embarrassment! Loved it!

My husband and I went here for our 19th wedding anniversary and we made the decision based on the numerous 4-5 star reviews. We got sat at a nice table farther down the deck with a good view of the water and the city traffic going by. (unfortunately, as the night went on, so did the "bay smell" I know there's not much the restaurant can do, but it was very off putting) We ordered the oysters rockefeller and the calamari as appetizers - the rockefeller was overdone with sauce, so much that you couldn't even tell there was an oyster in there. The calamari "fries" were ok, but overcooked and a little on the chewy side. For our entrees my husband ordered the porkbelly and scallops and I had what was essentially their seafood sampler (lobster tail, shrimp, salmon, grouper and scallop). We worried it might have been too much food, but truthfully the portions were very small - for mine it was one shrimp, one scallop, one very small lobster tail with hardly any meat, one tiny square of salmon and the same for grouper. All were to have been "grilled" - the lobster and shrimp were room temperature (you could tell they probably grilled them off earlier then "heated" them up to plate), the grouper was overcooked and the salmon was just ok. Nothing was seasoned - including the potatoes and veg that came with it. I don't eat scallops, but my husband said his and the one from my plate, while very different were just "ok". The confit porkbelly was under seasoned. We thought maybe the desserts would save the meal so we ordered the goat cheese cheesecake and the key lime pie. The pie had so much whipped topping that you couldn't really tasted the tart key lime pie underneath and the cheesecake was set upon a deep layer of marscapone - so again, the cake itself got lost. Service was fine - polite but not memorable. For two people, with 3 drinks each our bill was over $200.00. Not worth it at all. There are so many other great options for fine dining in the Tampa area.

We have celebrated our anniversary at Oystercatchers for at least 10 years, but a large corporate group was in the main room so we were put in the overflow room which had all the ambiance of a cafeteria. Good food and service took the edge off but I was not happy.

Has always been one of our favorite dining experiences and never ceases to fail on quality and first class service. The view is outstanding and the cuisine never fails. The only disappointment was that they ran out of specials by 6:30...we thought that was early, but the second recommendation was excellent. Still one of my favorites, no doubt.

Scenery was great. We ate outside; everything was great. We have eaten in the past inside; I recall hard floors and glass - causing the sound and vibrations to not be that great. ... noise reverberates about the dinning area. The upkeep and condition of the docks, decks and inside were excellent.

Came for my wife and I's 1 year wedding anniversary, but the food here left me wondering if I made the right choice in Restaurants.
Oysters were not good at all which was upsetting b/c we were in the mood for some fresh seafood. (Had a weird taste to them)
The other food I had seemed like it had been sitting in the trays all morning.
The muscles and clams weren't good - overcooked and rubbery.
The grilled grouper tasted bland.
The sushi rolls had not been replenished probably since the display was initially set up earlier that morning. What started out as a tower of Mexican rolls, was left to just the foundation or lower tier of rolls (if you will) so there's no telling how long ago they had been prepared, or how long they'd been sitting. The avocado in the rolls I had did not look good and was starting to oxidize - I took a bite of the tempura shrimp (Which was room temperature at this point, and decided not to eat anything further.
The Strip steak was dry and bland.
The best parts were our server, the cheese spread and the dessert.

Relatively pricey, but food exquisitely well done.
Seating outside at Sunset wonderful view but very cramped....tatables so close together.
Ambiance damaged by loud small children racing up and down stepsteps and aisles.

This is a great seafood restaurant! wonderful Bay view, terrific service and delicious food. We had the scallops, Tuna and Snapper at our table and each dish was prepared and presented perfectly. Our server was attentive but not intrusive. Go there for a great dining experience.

The meal was not worth $55. Buffet was lacking in taste and creativity. Beef was tasteless and tough. Pork was dry. Shrimp is doled out by a server. Was very disappointed!!!! Service was blah. Booked ahead for birthday and it was not mentioned. Why do they bother asking what the occasion will be when booking? Will never go back!!

I'd been wanting to get back to Oystercatchers as had been awhile. Wasn't impressed this trip. The pros: friendly greeter who gave us a very nice table at the window. The view would have been beautiful of the Bay had it not been for the mangroves needing to be trimmed. The server said this is regulated by the County so out of their control. Ordered the grouper which was delicious but for $18.00 I expected it to be larger than 5 oz. I'd argue mine was an end and not even 5 oz. as the bun overwhelmed it. The truffle fries were very good.
The cons: not best view of what should be amazing, very small portion for price and service was poor- slow and had to keep asking for refills.

Maybe the loudest restaurant in America... Forget having a conversation, unless you're dining on a slow night. But the food is terrific and makes up for the lack of acoustic planning. So just go and enjoy the food and the view. You can talk anytime!

Delicious and inventive seafood with a breathtaking view of Tampa Bay. I took my work colleagues here for dinner. We enjoyed fresh Oysters, Calamari Fries, and Crab Cakes. All delicious. We all had fish for dinner and everyone's was well prepared. Lobster Mac and Cheese and Lobster Loaded Mashed Potatoes were sublime. The service was also excellent. Highly recommend.

We arrived on time, but had to wait about 10-15 minutes to be seated, even though the restaurant was fairly empty. I requested a table by the window so I could see the bay, which was accommodated. One of the reasons for making the reservation, besides the waterfront appeal, was to order their lobster macaroni and cheese. The dish was expensive, about $38. The dish was pleasant, but a little salty and definitely not the WOW factor we were hoping for! The diver scallops were very good, probably the best out of all of our dinners. My father thought that the keylime pie was the one of the best, if not the best, he has ever eaten. Our server was great! The only two things that did not make the review better, was the value of the food for the price and the initial wait.

Incredibly loud and noisy. Sat in the room off to the left of the entrance. We had a table in front of the waiters stand hidden by a screen and I had to ask our waiter to stop throwing the empty glass champapne bottles in the trash cans behind our table which created a tremendous amount of noise which was startling. We couldn't even hear each other talking due to the echoes in the room and the other loud boisterous tables. The food however was very good and the servers were very attentive. The free valet service was a nice extra and the live musicians were very good.
Perhaps if we sat somewhere else it would have been more enjoyable. The price of $55 per person was quite steep, but it was a champagne brunch with delicious food.

Water kept dripping on me from the A/C above very annoying We sat by the door and it was humid outside so I understand why it was happening. We should have been seated at a different seat this was a very important night for us.
