I was there a year and a half ago and enjoyed it much better the steaks were better than then now my wife’s they came out cold.
Always a great dining experience.
Best steak in Texas!!!
Our waiter Zeke was awesome. He was very friendly and very attentive.
Steak was not high quality for $50 a ribeye. I will not be going again. 1/3 price at longhorn or lone star for better quality.
The sides were good but can’t salvage the steak problem. Many unchewable pieces of meat in 20oz bone in ribeye.
Filet was cooked perfect! I recommend the charred brussel sprouts as your side. Server was very attentive and accommodating to my diet restrictions. Beautiful atmosphere. Highly recommended it!
Our evening at this restaurant was nothing but first class. The service was great and we received service from several different folks. Each one was friendly and seemed to really care about us having a great experience.
Our food was very good and we did experience a special evening.
Went for our wedding anniversary great food, great service loved our waitor Jaime. Cocktails were made really well by the bar man while waiting for our table.
had a great time, ribeye was the best nice anniversary dinner and never had a cheese cake in a chocolate dinosaure egg 😁😉😁😁
Simply elegant, yet wonderful cuisine. We will return.
Food was just OK compared to other steak restaurants in the area of similar price. Steak had a good flavor, but nothing special. Cooked in oven broiler, no charring on the outside. Lobster bisque had decent flavor with chunks of lobster meat, but soup was way too thin. Not a thicker cream soup that I expected. Overall, restaurant was good, but not outstanding, which it should be for the price. Service was good, but we were sat in a corner next to a wall. I kept hitting the wall with my elbow while I was eating.
We ordered the Farms 44 cowboy ribeye, med with a pittsburg or charred exterior.
The meat was overcooked and we suspect because of the requested pittsburg charring.
the meat was tough and hard to eat.
We were seated promptly and greater by our server. He was friendly and shared the evenings specials. We enjoyed the wine list options and were pleased with our choice.
Two of our group shared a steak and they were pleased. Our other steak option person was not happy with his filet - cut was not a good one and not cooked Med-well // very close to rare.
Sides were served family portions - they were good.
One person chose an appetizer from the specials for main course- do not recommend the fried oysters
No desserts for us.
May look elsewhere for my next $400 meal for 4.
Food was bland overall and steaks were very disappointing. I would not recommend this restaurant.
The food was amazing and the service was exceptional. Perfect for date night with my husband.
This was our first trip (over 30 miles) to this restaurant. The service and ambiance were great but the prices for the quantity of food was quite high, $40 for two cocktails, $80 for two steaks where Outback gets $46 for same cut of meat. We will give it another try on another special ocassion.
we enjoy the ambiance, their was a live entertainer that evening, the Cheese tray is out of this world - the server was very knowledgable. Not all steak houses have cheese carts and are able to tell you about the cheeses.
We had a very positive experience at this restaurant. It was quiet so you could really enjoy talking to the people at your table. The steaks were delicious and the Chocolate Banana Martini... YUM!
It was very good. Barbara is always a great waitress
Very nice, and great food. Imaginative menu, for those who want to educate their pallet. Not a typical high end steakhouse. Smart layout with booths and tables. Seafood , Steaks and Lamb are all wonderful. Highly recommended!
The food was amazing. I will return.
Decent menu, bland steak. You can find better steak elsewhere.
We had the pork chop and bone in ribeye, both were ordered MR to MED and both were raw. And I mean RAW. The waiter was very helpful but by the time we received them back our other items (mushroom risotto, Brussel sprouts) were cold. The pork chop on the second cooking was still raw, so we just asked for them to go and left.
A great dining experience. Very helpful, accommodating waiter with good suggestions.
Our anniversary dinner was amazing as always at Old Hickory. Best lobster bisque we can find on the planet! Steaks were perfect and creamed corn with a touch of heat was so yummy! They brought us an anniversary dessert of cheesecake in a chocolate dome, fantastic meal from beginning to end. Service was impeccable
Our waiter was extremely helpful. He provided excellent suggestions on menu items. He even brought us a special desert for our anniversary.
We'll likely not return for steaks here.
This was our second visit to this restaurant, the first was a wedding anniversary, the second was a combination business trip and early valentines with my wife. Overall it was a great experience, but 2 things that could have been better.
1) the 9 ounce filet mignon had no flavor. I read many comments about the steaks not having flavor. A good steak flavor should not need lots of spices. That said, this meat literally had no flavor. This must be why it comes with grilled onions and peppers. A ribeye would never need onions or peppers to accompany it.
2) there was a couple whose cell phone would loudly chime every 5 minutes with each text message. At one point the man was Face-timing a client and speaking very loudly. A) guests should be asked to silence their phones when being seated and step away from the table if using them. B) do not seat arriving guests near a table obviously loud and discourteous.
The servers were great, most all the other food was delicious. Steak houses are pricey in general, because it is a fine dining experience. That said, when the steak flavor is absent, as was mine, it diminishes the experience.
We'll likely go elsewhere next time.
Was very disappointed. The steaks were not prepared per customer request -- 2 were sent back as too rare, 2 were overcooked.
Great food and service! Only negative was how loud it was. It was difficult to hear conversations at our table.
I’ve already recommended it to several people.
The service was outstanding as was the ambience. The food was good, but not the best I have ever had with the exception of the lobster bisque which was excellent. I ordered the "add on" of sea scallops as my entree. Like I said, they were good, but not the best I've ever had. For $19 I expected better since there were literally only 2 scallops garnished with a few pieces of spring mix. The wedge salad was not great and I only ate half of it. The blue cheese dressing was very vinegary and somewhat thin compared to other blue cheese dressings I have had in the past.
The bacon did not appear to be real bacon. It may have been, but it was ground up very fine, so I wasn't sure. It could have been like the mass produced Hormel "real" bacon bits, or it could have been bacon that had been run through a food processor. It just didn't have that real bacon taste. So, my meal consisted of the wedge salad, lobster bisque, and 2 scallops. I did not feel the need to complain about any of it, but it was a rather expensive meal for what it was. I don't mind paying for excellent food and service. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The food was marvelous and our waitress Allyn was excellent!
Went for my husband’s birthday had the cod ( recommended by our waiter ) and he had the fillet with cognac peppercorn sauce. Everything was excellent. I am suspicious about the bad reviews I keep reading, maybe a competitor or business nearby. Great experience and food.
We dined at this restaurant because we were staying at the hotel and the reviews were good. I am not sure if we just went on a bad night but our experience was awful! It was horrible! The shrimp cocktail (3 shrimp for $16), were the worst I have ever had. The bread is more like dessert and our bread plate had a hair on it. The waiter apologized and comped us some peppercorn sauce to make up for it. My husband did enjoy his steak but mine was horrible. I ordered the filet and it was cold and was more like pepper steak. We ordered a nice bottle of wine and that was the best part. This meal was not worth what we paid! I would not recommend this restaurant. Go outside the hotel to eat. Do not waste your money here!
Amazing restaurant and even better service. Our waiter was Joseph and he was great. The filet and bone in ribeye will make you want to come back.
Was very good food. However it was pricey.
We enjoyed our meal and wine! Zeke was a wonderful server and made our experience a great one.
Me and my Fiancé had the pleasure of dining at The Old Hickory, at the Gaylord Texan, for my birthday, on January 20th. We had an early 5:30pm reservation. We showed up about 15 minutes early and we sat at the bar for a drink before we were seated. I would recommend this! They have an outstanding wine list and get the Texas Old Fashion drink. It was phenomenal! The bar tender who made it for me was Matthew who was friendly and very helpful along with Glen and Dave. Best drink I've ever had and I love Old Fashion's.
We were promptly seated at 5:30pm and the feel of the restaurant was romantic with the perfect amount of light and sound. The service was spot on and our waiter was another gentleman named Matthew and he was fantastic. He went out of his way to make sure we were well taken care of. The servers were excellent too.
We started with a Lobster Bisque and Shrimp Cocktail that we shared and it was a perfect choice. Both were delicious. For our main I had a New York Strip and my Fiancé had a Fillet. We both ordered them medium and they were cooked to perfection. The best steak I have ever eaten. We chose the oven Roasted Mushrooms and the Olive Oil & Thyme Whipped Potatoes for sides. Both were excellent with wonderful flavor.
Our waiter, Matthew, found out it was my birthday and he brought out a portion of cheesecake surrounded by a wall of chocolate that melted in your mouth. The cheese cake was outstanding. A perfect ending to an amazing meal. We will DEFINITELY be back! We had a great time and a wonderful experience.
Food was delicious and service was "top knotch.". Definitely an enjoyable meal.
Disappointed but food was good. Have eaten there 3 times before and it was better. They néed someone in charge to direct the flow of things as well as checking in on the customer service.
