We were celebrating a family birthday. The experience was perfect. The food exceeded our expectations. Our server made sure that every detail was perfect, including a dessert for the birthday girl. We can't wait to go back.
Good food, good service. Older crowd and very quiet. Ambiance was nice but nothing too exciting or unique which may be perfect for some and not ideal for others.
Great food, great service!
We were a group of four friends, arrived for a 730pm reservation. We were sat immediately ordered drinks and appetizer. The wine list was great , I got a bottle to share which was excellent and friends had cocktails which they enjoyed. We ordered escargot for our appetizer YUM! And no shells so we cleared them in no time. I shouldve kept the bread to sop up the left over yumminess! We ordered pork chop, rack of lamb, osso bucco and fish. There was a delay getting our entrees, we were informed by our waiter, due to a mishap in the kitchen with one of them, we were given extra drinks and dessert to compensate. All the food was excellent, my fav was my hubbys rack of lamb. The waiter was friendly attentive and informative. Id say the place is best suited to special occasions and quiet intimate date nights. We sat inside but next time wed like to try the patio seating it looked cozy and charming.
Food was very well prepared! Our server was informative, friendly, and attentive. We will be back!!!
All other reviews were in line with our experience. Seats were uncomfortable, service was slow, food was good (not great) but overpriced. Decor is dated. Very poor bar selection. Needs a Reno/refresh.
Excellent food. If you are a fan of rack of lamb, theirs is terrific! The patio is a very nice setting in the evening with the lights in the trees. It was very chilly, so we asked to have the outdoor heaters turned on. The first osne was broken so they had to bring a second one. The only other snafu was our cocktail order. Although two of us ordered the same drink, was one served in a much smaller glass.
Lovely dinner, I had the salmon which was excellent, my companion had the pork chop which he said was 'very tasty'. The dishes were presently beautifully.
The pork osso bucco was out of this world! Attentive service, whopping big servings, great location in old St Augustine. A wonderful value!
Surprised at how few people were there. We sat outside in very nice garden area. Unfortunately, mosquitos were out with no protection. Food was very good. Service was OK. It seemed like the place was going through a transition.
We had dinner there Saturday Night. We have eaten there before and once again enjoyed the meal and the service. They seems a little slow in the kitchen but the food was still excellent.
Food was excellent with service to match. Ambiance was romantic and perfect for a date. However the chairs were quite worn which made them uncomfortable.
Food was good, service was terrific but the ambiance is not great....very dated..uncomfortable chairs...needs a renovation/make over.
Very nice but were seated under the a/c vent with no other option or consideration giving to making us more comfortable other than moving our seats around the table. This was not possible with my 7 month pregnant daughter.
One of the best meals that my wife and I have had in a long time! We will definitely return when we are in St Augustine!
A great find in a city we don’t know well. The food and service were great. Small restaurant, only about 50 seats but the noise level is very low. Would definitely go back.
Highly recommend for a cozy romantic dinner and wine
Me and my significant other went here for valentines day dinner. I had made the reservation well in advance just in case. The menu featured only a few things to choose from which I don't mind, however it is sad when overall the wine was better then the execution of the food. I had ordered the osso buco and it was well cooked and looked lovely, however the flavor just wasn't there. What did stand out for us was the roasted garlic and bread and the passion fruit creme brulee. There is nothing wrong the food, it just sadly wasn't worth the price point. I can eat better for the same if not less at other establishments with similar ambiance. I will say our waiter was great and very tentative.
We went to Old City House for Valentine’s Day. Our meal was excellent and the service was very good as well. We’ll be back
My husband and I went here for Valentine’s Day. The only seating available was the outdoor seating which was a bit sketchy for us as the weather was very chilly. We decided to go anyway and figure it out once we got there. Needless to say, I’m so glad we went! It was so quaint and romantic with strung lights and umbrella tables tucked beside tropical plants. They had a little chiminea and a few outdoor heaters that took the chill away so we were very comfortable regardless of the chilly air. The service was great and the food was amazing! The only thing I didn’t like was that they didn’t have much of a wine selection by the glass. I can’t remember the name of the Malbec (it starts with an “N”) and tasted like cough syrup. I got the brut sparkling wine instead and it was wonderful! I’m glad we decided to hang in there and give it a shot because we had a wonderful dinner! If we are ever in the area again, this is definitely a restaurant we would come back to! Ps. There were only two restaurants in St. Augustine that I liked and this was one of them so that should tell you something! Thanks for a wonderful evening!
Very good meal, great atmosphere, quiet so you can have an enjoyable conversation.
First time there for Valentines Day, very special place for a special occasion. Food and service are excellent. We’ll keep on the radar! M&M 👍
Mack provided excellent service. The lamb chops were very good & sizeable portion! Old school dining experience truly memorable.
Wonderful! I had pork and it was delicious. Great service and cute surroundings.
Very enjoyable in every way!👍
The ambiance was very nice and quaint. Chairs at the table were an experience as there was next to no upholstery; it felt as if you were sitting in the chair frame.
The quality of food was very good. The portions generally were a little smaller than in many restaurants but still more than adequate. The biggest surprise was the variable food temperatures.
The crab bisque was barely warm on the top but the bottom half was close to temperature. Meats tended to be just warm whilst vegetables varied from quite hot to tepid.
Table service was very good and attentive. The speed with which food came from the kitchen was however rather slow. This visit was in February when tourism is slow, leaving one to wonder what happens at the height of the season.
Prices are not for the feint of heart!
This was a horrible experience. There is no parking and we ended up leaving after they told us they only had outdoor seating. Will never go there or anywhere in that area again.
Great food and service. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Excellent meal.
We were there for my Wife’s Birthday 01/19 and have already made a reservation for my Birthday 02/14. I’ll call a few days ahead to get the same table for 2; back left corner, window facing street. I’ll be asking for the same server, hopefully peter is working that night! Great ambience, Great dining and a Great server made it the perfect night! Looking forward to the 14th!
The dinner was perfect equal to a 5 star restaurant Perfect dinner.
Food is very pricey and not amazing. If there is one thing I have to say negatively about what we ordered it would definitely be the cheese platter. It was quite pricey, if I remember correctly it was $16, and it looked like a cheeseboard you would get from Publix. It look like slices were cut off of block cheese, there were some Ritz crackers and a whole wheat townhouse crackers and it was really, really disappointing.
Perfectly cooked, large portion of lamb chops was outstanding with very good wine pairing.
Excellent attentive service but food was good but not great. Had osso boco. Could have been cooked longer & juiceier. We will though be back!
The sirloin was very very good, tender and tasty. The Bombay Sapphire martini was very good. But my husbands lamb chops were tough and not cooked like he wanted.....so avoid the lamb chops. Nice ambience and fairly quiet. Service was good. Pricey meals and drinks.
We went to Old City House to celebrate a birthday December 30, 2017. It was the perfect time to go as the entire Old Town St. Augustine was decorated in twinkle lights and Christmas splendor. The restaurant was decorated for the holidays complete with a Christmas tree. The restaurant ambiance matched the old time vintage of St. Augustine. We all ordered Beef Tenderloin and it was cooked to perfection. The Potatoes au Grautin was outstanding!! The crab soup was awesome as well. We ended our meal with a fabulous dessert of Creme Brulee.
Even though the restaurant was not open to the public at the time of my reservation, Juan accommodated me. The experience was nice, quiet and relaxing.
This was our first time to St Augustine and Old City House Restaurant! We can't say enough how great the food and service was. We would definitely recommend the restaurant and most certainly would go back if our travels take us to St. Augustine again.
My husband and I dined here on Christmas night...which can be a hit or miss experience at some places, but NOT here! Our server was pleasant and attentive and the food was amazing! The escargot was as good as other reviews said and the tuna appetizer was fresh and done perfectly rare. Our mains were the NZ rack of lamb which was one of the best I had ever had and the filet was perfect. We enjoyed martinis at their quaint bar while waiting. Yes, they were running behind and seated us about 45 minutes late, but we enjoyed our cocktails and the cozy couch. It was made up for in every other way!
