We visited this restaurant based on a review by Rick Bayless. We both ordered the lobster spaghetti. Unfortunately, we didn't have a good experience with our main dish. The pasta was under cooked and the lobster pieces were room temperature. We enjoyed the bread and the bruschetta. We would be open to trying again.

My bff and I went for a well overdue dinner tonight and it was a wonderful meal and experience. Before my friend arrived I got a drink from the bar to relive my barfly days and the bartender recommended a lovely rose based on my description to her of what I like (basically fruit-forward with bubbles). At dinner we sat at the chefs area with Brett as our fantastic server. We started with the big eye tuna and the black bream crudo which was fantastic! Then we had the Brussels sprouts bruschetta -just fabulous followed by the awesome Octopus and then the orecchiette pasta. We decided to forego dessert in favor of the chicken liver bruschetta which was fine - definitely not as good as that Brussels sprout bruschetta. Everything was great. I had a lovely full bodied white to go with the meal and my (more sophisticated) bff had a dry, big red just the way she likes it. Thanks to Brett for his great recommendations. All in all it was a wonderful evening with great food and service from Brett.

The food was creative with the basis in Italian but is not traditional at all. The portions were a little small but delicious, this left room for their fantastic deserts.
The service is slow but friendly and steady, I was there for a meeting and this served me well allowing time for conversation while not taking too long between courses. I thought the main course pasta portions were too small for the price especially the stuffed parpadalle we mentioned this to our waitress and she brought another portion to us at no charge. They also gave us a few small pastries at the end of the dinner.

Sunday pre-Bears game brunch spot for us. N.O. had a fun bistro feeling, with full pane windows overlooking the pretty surrounding streets, flowers, and businesses. Very fun vibe. I rated it as quiet, but I was there in early am on Sunday, when it is quiet, in general.
Food choices were creative--I loved the Kale and Sweet Potato Hash. Great combination of flavors, and well-seasoned. We started by sharing the Brussels Sprout Bruschetta, which again had a great flavor combo, but the bruschetta was burned and blackened in substantial part, taking away from those delicious flavors. Another in my party had the Nico breakfast, and the sausage was also burned. Not burning the food seems like a pretty low bar to jump, and N.O. did not manage it.

Nico's was a great experience!!!! Beautiful bar, table was ready within 15 mins of our reservation. The meal was FANTASTIC!!! We start with the Chef's Selections of the raw bar, then shared salad, whole fish, ribeye, and pasta - for 4 people this was an awesome way to have a little bit of everything. This is probably one of my favorites in Chicago now - every bite was delicious!!!!

Service and food was exceptional. We were well attended to by all of the wait staff. The two pastas choices we shared were creative and outstanding; the short ribs melted in your mouth. We thought the brussel sprout bruschetta was especially creative and tasty as were the two desserts we shared.

Second time at Nico.....a great looking and feeling place but food was not up to par as our first experience. Restaurant was empty when we came in at 11:00 a.m. Filled up at bit. Will try for a third time just to make sure. Convenient spot to eat with many choices.

Excellent service. We sat outside and the weather was perfect. The Brussels sprouts bruschetta was incredible as was my sweet onion tortolloni which melted in my mouth. My husband's rigatoni in Bolognese sauce as even better.

This is another "great find" for brunch. The chicken hash with sweet potatoes was excellent, as were the pancakes (more like crepes) with bananas and apples. My coffee cup was always filled without me even noticing - this is about the only restaurant I have visited where that has been done. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was great. I had the branzino, with the head and tail removed. It as delicious. Even the bread was a plus, a portion of the meal that I often pass up, but enjoyed the olive bread in particular. The beet salad was a great starter. I would consider returning on another trip to Chicago.

Our food was fantastic and I'm still thinking about it. The minestrone soup was outstanding. The brussel sprout bruschetta was unbelievable. Can't wait to go back. We also had a great waiter to make the whole experience wonderful.

We had the best time, great food, attentive service and a lovely window table providing a fun view watching the pedestrians. Started off with cocktails and an appetizer; then a nice bottle of bold red wine recommended by our waiter. Side veggie dishes were gourmet and delicious. Entrees were chef-prepared and the finale included a variety of dessert liqueurs.

The food was outstanding and the wait staff was attentive without being intrusive The whole branzino alone was worth the trip. Definitely would recommend that you eat "family style" so that you can enjoy all the tastes from the menu

The service was excellent and we were seated right away. They gave us a complimentary bread but included it in the bill. Later they revised the bill. Also, I ordered the salmon. The portion was very small for the price and the fish was under cooked/ raw.

We have been to Nico numerous times. They never disappoint. The menu changes on a regular basis albeit a few mainstays (the brussel sprout bruschetta is NOT to be missed!). Everything is always presented beautifully, served at appropriate temperature and absolutely delicious. Our server, while lovely and personable, dropped the ball at bit the end of the evening, otherwise would have given 5 stars on all fronts. Go! You won't be disappointed!

My new fav spot hands down! Love the lively atmosphere and the layout of the Restauraunt! From the bar, to a cozy conversation on the suede couches, to fabulous dining, this Restauraunt has got to be on my top 10 list!!! Always a wonderful experience! Oh and did I mention they're fish is phenomenal ?

The food and service were amazing! We made a reservation, but they sat us by the bar. Kinda wished we sat more in the restaurant area since we were a little dressed up. People were in very casual clothing at the "bar" seating. Also, there was a hair in my food, but our waitress took care of it right away and gave us each an extra glass of wine to make up for the mix up. I also did get hit in the head by another server, but he was very apologetic! Overall though, the food is always amazing, the staff is always attentive and kind!

Asked for a table near window and only when I got to the restaurant did they inform us that there were no tables for 2 near windows. Extremely loud and back ground music did not help. Food seemed expensive and not worth the price . We asked for well cooked food and they kept serving us the same undercooked dish. It was extremely busy but had more of a cafeteria feeling and not the ambiance you want for such a expensive restaurant. Out side table seemed better but non available. My chicken was warm and not hot when arrived. Tasteless .
We would not recommend this restaurant unless for lunch or people watching with a drink.
