The service was excellent we had waiters who were attentive and on top of things. The issue was that the food was meh at best, the mac and cheese tasted like it was from a box and was bland, Shrimp Linguini Pasta - an over oiled overcooked pasta and shrimp barely able to eat it. A lot of the entrees were left half eaten and we did not ask to take anything to go. Way overprices for the quality of the food they serve. Only saving grace with the servers who were on it.

The ahi tuna salad was outstanding, Tina was fresh and seared perfectly. Just the right amount of dressing, arugula was crisp and peppery. Great lunchtime meal. Do not order, however, If you want a heavier more filling entree; this was definitely light.

We came on Game 6 night of the NBA Final, a poor choice on our part. So, it was loud and crowded. However, we were seated at a table on the sidewalk and it was quite pleasant. Due to the crowd inside, we were competing for service but our server was polite and accommodating even though he was getting beat up inside. Our food was delicious and hot, just perfect. Really, our only disappointment was the greeter. She barely acknowledged us when we walked in, never smiled, hardly made eye contact, and her body language suggested that she was less than pleased to be assisting us. She needs a serious attitude adjustment, or should be working back of the house. Also, she failed to check us in properly, and so OpenTable thought we had not honored our reservation. Still, given her minor role in the overall experience, we would come back.

It was probably a challenging weekend as it was Bottlerock. The server or kitchen forgot one of the entrees at our table. We all had hamburgers which were really good. The lost entree arrived well into the middle of our meal. No amends made on the bill however. Sitting outside on the sidewalk was fun for people watching. Concert goers were so happy and excited. It was contagious. We had fun.

Good food with some interesting items, and our service was excellent. Bit on the pricey side for what it is, but we expected as much. They turn the place into a dance club at 10 on Saturdays, which transformed the place from a trendy dinner spot into a full DJ dance party.

This is one of those places in Napa that I love visiting because it's a true crowd pleaser. I can come here with different groups of friends and know they'll always love what they order. Most of their menu is made up of American classics deliciously made with fresh ingredients and a modern twist, the rest of the menu includes tasty Asian and Latin inspired items. I love many of their items including the ahi tuna salad, their burger, ribeye steak, and their grilled day boat scallops! The staff is friendly and professional and the owner, Ali, attentive to guests. On Thursday nights they have great live music and on Fridays and Saturdays they have DJ music. Napkins is a great lunch or dinner spot. I recommend it!
eating in Napa
We ate here for the first time on Sunday 2/14. It is a very casual, noisy place frequented by a younger group of people 20-30's. The food however was surprisingly good and was a good value. We shared a beet and goat cheese salad (could have had more goat cheese) and my husband got the chicken which he really enjoyed while I got the pork chop which was also very good. We didn't enjoy the mashed potatoes and the Wines were reasonably priced.
Not so hot
Food Oversll tasted great! The service did not meet our expectation due to the fact they were over sold for movie premier! We were not asked if we wanted dessert just to get out of our seat to change it into a night club. Also my entree was served incorrect.
...everything was great! servers attentive without being hovering...group of 5 of us tried shrimp/grits & meatballs & mac&cheese & mussels...main dishes were pork chop(large with slightly sweet sauce, moist & flavorful)...salmon...pasta & shrimp...& loaded burger...all DELISH! but wait, desserts: chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, berry parfait with ice cream shared by all & all 2 thumbs up! we were there on a Saturday at 1pm..not busy...'brunch' menu til 3p on wkends with some breakfast fare also on the menu looked good...we'll be back!
Loved the fish tacos and the shrimp linguini!
All 4 of us enjoyed our dinner at Napkins, 3 of us had the fish tacos and one had the shrimp linguini. Our waiter was outstanding, very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The atmosphere was lively but not too loud though the big TV was distracting to those of us in the dining room. The one downside was the price of the cocktails. Two of the people in our party had martinis and they were $14.50 each, we felt that was an outrageous price for a martini. It was a real bummer to what was otherwise a very nice dining experience. I would go there again but would go somewhere else for cocktails first.
NEW YEARS DINNER
I have All Good things to say about Napkins Bar & Grill. We arrived a little Early but were still seated right away. We had the Best Server who came back several times to check on us.
My wife had the Organic Chicken Dinner which was very Tasty, I had the Burger which i really enjoyed, the special sauce they use makes this a really Tasty Burger, we shared a Lobster salad which we thoroughly enjoyed. I have no hesitation to recommend Napkin Bar & Grill.
Mussels/Clams & Brisket Sandwich. Drops Mic
After our first day tasting in Napa we headed over to Napkins, where I insisted we go because the Mussels & Clams in red curry sauce with roasted sweet potatoes. WOW. So delicious. Definitely get this. My group of three was fighting over everything in the bowl and sopping up the red curry sauce, which was perfectly spicy! I hate sandwiches (I know), but something about the Wagyu Beef Brisket Sandwich was screaming at me. And to top it off, our server heard us talking about how much we enjoyed the spice and heat on the Mussels & Curry that she told us how her kitchen would prefer to use more spice in certain items--like the Brisket Sandwich--so we told her to tell the kitchen to BRING IT. My table absolutely loved it. The brisket was fall apart tender, the flavor was kickass, and the extra heat (by the addition of habeneros) was perfect! Will definitely come next time--and I'll likely end up repeating my meal!
Comfy spot with good food and lively bar
We have eaten here a few times now and really like it. It is comfortable and the staff is welcoming. Bar scene is active - there are several big screen TVs. We have had Ahi tuna, pork sliders, calamari and a great chocolate cake - all delicious and well done.
Perfect for our annual end of the year celebration
My coworkers and I came here to celebrate our end of the year because we wanted a place we knew would deliver on service and taste, and we were right yet again. After taking a good 20 minutes to figure out what we wanted while we chatted up the work day, we ordered the fried calamari and queso fundido with chorizo for starters and then the brisket sandwich, burgers, ahi tuna salad, and the fried chicken sandwich for our entrees. Tip: no corkage on Thursdays! Christmas tunes played over the speaker system while I was able to catch the Bucs and Rams game in between conversation.
Our server was patient and attentive, we did not have to worry about a thing. Food was on point, with a couple exceptions... Calamari was not entirely fresh and I was disappointed at how small my salad was. My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed his brisket sandwich and the rest of our group enjoyed their meals as well. I would be hesitant to order the calamari but will definitely be back in the future.
My #1 Go-To restaurant in Napa
No trip to Napa is complete without a visit to Napkins. This is a gem that I stumbled upon a couple years ago, and now make it a regular part of my planning. The food is amazing; the service is great; and the environment is comfortable.
I am sure this restaurant is often overshadowed by the larger, more popular Michelin rated restaurants, but this is all you need.
Trust me :)
Thanksgiving night may not be the best time for review but we chose Napkins for what we thought would be a tasty alternative to a traditional turkey dinner. The guacamole appetizer and chicken wings appetizer were just "okay", the Spanish caesar salad with chicken, Mary's Habanero Chicken and the Turkey Sandwich were flavorless and uninteresting. The Niman Ranch Burger was acceptable. The service was very good. We brought an old bottle of wine which our server graciously decanted.
not going back
We had the Achiote Chicken sandwich, it felt like we were eating rubber, the texture was way off, the flavor even more. Also the Brisket sandwich, the only thing that saved this sandwich was the cheese. Both came with a sorry excuse for a Salad, it was just lettuce, nothing else, and the dressing was omitted. The Grand Margarita was miniscule, for $13, I would expect something "Grand". We are not going back, and won't be recommending it to our friends.
When arriving, there was such a nasty smell, and I made mention to our waiter (Who was amazing, the only good thing about this place) She commented that she was not sure what it was, maybe the construction that is ongoing on the building . She said that the chef was lighting some herbs to help mask the smell. This was my second try, never again!
