While our food was quite good, the cocktails didn't seem to have much or their main ingredient.
The biggest drawback was that for $140 dinner for two, you wouldn't think your appetizer plates would be snatched without a word, to make room for a rushed entree to be delivered!
Maybe they over booked for a Saturday night, but there's really no excuse.
We decided not to stay for a rushed dessert or a nitecap.

Excellent service. Everyone was gracious and attentive. It made the experience even better than just the food. The restaurant itself is very attractive inside and clean. The appetizers, main, and dessert we ordered were all tasty and no flaws to speak of. I would return again. I rarely eat dessert, but I would here again. They definitely excel here.

My wife and I were visiting from Seattle. We found Montrio Bistro on OpenTable and selected it based off the reviews. It was outstanding. We shared the artichoke and I had some oysters for our appetizer. The oysters came with a cucumber and jalapeño water. Delicious !! I had the bacon chop over crusted mac-n-cheese...which was awesome. We would highly recommend Montrio Bistro. Enjoy !!

Our experience at Montrio is always extraordinary from the phenomenal food to the on the pint service. This time was no exception from our duck entree to our fantastic service from our waiter Jose. Thank Montrio for another perfect night!

This is one of our favorite restaurants on the peninsula. We often go for happy hour, but eating in the dining room is a nice treat. The food is consistently delicious and the cocktails are amazing. Great service...attentive without rushing us.

We had a fun, albeit LOUD, tasty dinner with friends from NJ. The capital LOUD is because we were seated next to a large group of rowdy men. They were just having a good time but it got out of control:( The four of us enjoyed our dinner and the waitress. A couple we'd met on the way there asked where's a good place to eat? We suggested Montrio Bistro. And, would you believe, they not only ate there but sent over a bread pudding dessert to us. A fun evening!

We had a great dinner. The menu had great variety. I am a pescatarian, so I am well attuned to looking for more than just a beef and chicken option. In addition, the small and medium bites menu also meant that you can easily get a few small dishes to share. These were a good portion size and very tasty. There were creative flavor combos that I never would have thought to put together but that REALLY worked. Our server was very friendly, explaining various dishes to us and checking in on us without awkwardly hovering. The drinks menu was also fabulous. It is a bit pricier but not over priced for the quality of the food and drinks. Last but not least, get a dessert; you will not be disappointed.

We were celebrating our anniversary, and they had a cozy table with heart-shaped decorations for us. Nice touch! We ordered a variety of items from the menu, and all were delicious. We really enjoyed our dining experience.

The quality (and quantity) of each ingredient is absolutely outstanding. We enjoyed the ambiance - especially the crayons and paper on each table to draw with while you eat/wait. The service was courteous with a great sense of humour. We went for our anniversary and they even decorated the table for us with tiny little hearts (and complimentary dessert). The food was rich, elegant, comforting, thoughtful and delicious - satisfying on all fronts. We'll definitely be back!

This was our third visit to Montrio and it remains our favorite place in Monterey. My only wish is that several of the tables had just a bit more space between them. We could hear the conversations of both tables on either side of us and we really didn't want to. The food is great and the location is perfect. The service was good without being overbearing. We will return the next time we're in Monterey.

Wow! What a meal! We had just dined at many great restaurants in San Francisco and Sonoma but this meal was truly remarkable!
It was our first time here and hope it will not be our last. I randomly selected Montrio through the internet and what a great choice. Our waiter, Rueben was the best with many excellent recommendations and very attentive as well.
The menu offered an option to buy the staff a six pack for after the restaurant closed to show your appreciation and we gladly took them up on their offer.
The Manager stopped by our table a few times as well, real Nice Touch!
Loved Montrio Bistro, when in Monterey if you don't try this restaurant that would be a mistake!

Montrio Bistro had been recommended by locals on a couple of different occasions, but this was our first visit. It will definitely be our 'go to' restaurant anytime we're in Monterey. The food was wonderful & the staff was so friendly & helpful. We loved it and look forward to visiting again soon.

Unfortunately, we did not appreciate the flavors of what they do best and felt that they overdid something pretty basic like a roasted artichoke and overwhelmed the diver's scallops with the couscous. The wines by the glass were incredibly overpriced - a glass of Ridge Three Valleys which retails for $35 - $24 a bottle was offered for $19.00. I had to resort to cocktail with my dinner which is not my first preference. We ended up not eating the crispy calarmai as they were sticks of calamari steak.

I thought the food and menu items were great. I ordered the braised short ribs and my friend had the Lamb sirloin, however, too many lentils.
I didn't feel our waitress was as helpful as she could have been. She gave no suggestions for dessert. She seemed tired and uninterested in selling us on the menu or suggestions.

Amazing dining experience, best service from Caesar, the food was outstanding, but the king of the king of the evening was the best dessert we had in our life, the bread pudding!
And don't forget to tip a 6 pack for the kitchen staff, they will shout & ring the bell.

Dinner was excellent starting with the oatmeal crusted baked Brie perfect with a pre dinner drink. I had the medium size plate of beef served on a plank and prepared beautifully. My husband had the land over lentils which was excellent. Our waiter Chris was attentive, helpful and very pleasant. We thought the wine selection by the glass were not what they should be in wine country. And I wish we had not been seated at a small two top right next to another couple despite the fact that there were empty tables nearby. Hinders conversation for both parties.

We took our daughter and son-in-law to dinner and had a great dinner. The crab cake appetizer with aioli was yummy. The wild salmon dish over risotto with a tomato based sauce and some feta cheese was the best entree we had. The dinner was excellent and the service was quite good. The server quickly found out if the feta cheese was pasteurized for my daughter.

Had dinner here on visit to Napa for our son's birthday. The food was good and the service was OK. It was a busy night and the place was full. The noise level was too high for my taste, making conversation difficult. The owners should retain acoustic specialist to reduce noise level. I will eat there again because the food is good as well as the service.
