We made reservations on open table, we got seated right away, we ordered our drinks and the service became very slow after that.... food was absolutely awesome. Drinks were cod and delicious,
When we made the reservation we added that it
was a special occasion, as we were celebrating a birthday,
We watched other tables birthdays be acknowledged, but nothing for ours and then as we’re leaving the server started asking my husband about a chest freezer she was buying. Really? She wanted to know the best way to put it in her SUB? Really? It took forever for our food and for the deserts to come, another two top sat down after us and their order was taken before ours
My family loved the location and the hospitality and food were both excellent.
We waited forever even though I made reservations days in advance and our waitress seemed like she had better things to do. Overall the service was quite poor. Food was good.
I’m not one to leave reviews online. I am of the opinion that hard and negative comments should be reserved for face to face. I am so disappointed in the fact that this is one of those times where I want to warn everyone from doing the same mistakes we did. My wife took me out for my birthday a few days to Mongomery Inn (Boathouse). We ordered the brisket and a full rack of ribs. I was so disappointed with the service and even more so with the food. The brisket was a few degrees from being cold. The sides were barely lukewarm and fries that came with the ribs were stale and cold. Then the ribs came out. I am ashamed to admit that I have had better ribs at Applebee’s. The ribs were cold, rubbery and unpleasant to eat. I did not want to crush my wife’s date night plans so I just eat while each bite produced more and more anger in me. I was paying for a meal that I would have enjoyed more at a cheap chain restaurant. I only can hope that we are the slight majority of people who got horrendous food and unprofessional service. I should have spoken up, but it wasn’t until after we paid that my wife admitted that her sides of sweet potatoes, brussle sprouts, and cornbread were cold and thus without flavor. Our night was certainly affected by the poor service and terrible meal. I do not have an issue with the price of my meal. I ordered the items I wanted fully expecting to pay the amount for said items. My problem is paying over $50 for a meal that was not worth the more than fair tip I still gave the gentleman who served us. Please do not repeat our mistake. If you decide to eat at there, make sure the food you are served is what you expected when you ordered. Montgomery Inn has management, would you be willing to right this wrong? We certainly would want to dine there again if you can guarantee our meal will be what you advertise.
Great place and the ribs were awesome. Would certainly come here again!
I wanted to have a nice family dinner . And it was. The children were able to find something that they liked on the children's menu. The adults were able to enjoy a very nice atmosphere and could talk without having to raise their voices to be heard. It just was a very enjoyable time for all. Thank you
Great food, the service was absolutely fantastic, with every attention to details, friendly staff, clean atmosphere and great view
8pm reservation and we waited over an hour to be seated. I’m not sure the reservation means anything at all.
Waitress was great. Hostesses were rude. Had priority seating and still waited for an hour for a table. When I politely inquired at the 45 minute point lead hostess got nasty. Basically made me feel ignorant for asking and felt like I was basically being told to sit down, shut up and wait.
The Boathouse isn’t what it used to be. Most notably, the quality of the food has dropped and the atmosphere is subpar. The restaurant isn’t clean and is in need of an update. We won’t be back until changes are made.
The only complaint we had was the one hour wait even WITH a reservation. Our server was awesome and the food was great, they need a new system to make sure people who made reservations get seated without such a long wait.
Enjoyable, our waiter Hiko was the best!!
The food was very good. There was no waiting.
The signature duck dish was under cooked. Food was average. I wish there were more options to choose for dinner.
We enjoyed the meal. But making couples basically sit on top of each other is not going to attract people to come back. We were set at a four top that had been split so that 2 parties of 2 could be seated. There was not even enough room in between our two tables for the waitress to walk. We couldn’t even enjoy the meal due to being right on top of someone else and having to whisper to each other so we didn’t disturb the couple next to us. We wouldn’t recommend to anyone else unless if was for a large group that could all be seated together.
EXCELLENT. It was our son's 12th birthday. Dinner with a view and superior customer service from everyone we encountered. Our waitress served our party of 15 flawlessly! Highly recommend! Can't wait to return!
Nick was super enjoyed the night! Highly recommend the boat house!
Great night with an out of town guest. Perfect way to show off Cincinnati. Enjoyed the ribs as always!
Ribs were dry, noise level extremely loud
The usually great ribs were....Great! The usual very crowded Saturday afternoon was....very crowded! Service was good despite same. A Cincinnati gem on the river.
We arrived and they had Valet parking which was a plus as it was raining. We only waited about 5 minutes then were seated at the window overlooking the river. The ribs and chicken combo was wonderful as was the dessert. We will definitely be back.
food was great and came out quickly, however the place was extremely crowded and the service was sub par
Very good food, and loved the service we received.
The host, floor management, and service staff were great. Very good for a high volume venue. We had a mishap on our reservation with the Qty field (2 vs. 8). The floor management staff were accommodating and were able to seat us after a short wait. Our waiter, Ron, was very knowledgeable about the menu selections. The food was served efficiently and we all left with full stomachs and empty plates. Thank you!
Out of this world ribs and barbecue.
We usually dine here two-three times a year and this was the worse we’ve had in all our visits, not horrible but not as good as we are use to. Service wasn’t great, our waiter was more worried about the table of 6 instead of the two of us. Had to keep asking for items, refills, etc. We had ribs and brisket, ribs definitely weren’t as good as usual, seemed like they were aged some just had a odd taste to them. Brisket was very good though. Overall experience just wasn’t as good as usually not expected.
The only downside is the call ahead seating/reservations on a busy night still means a 45 minute wait. Still worth it though for the best ribs in America.
Great experience. Ribs were amazing and service was prompt. I’ll go again if in the Cincinnati area.
Montgomery Inn is an American treasure. Very consistent and as they say, “the best ribs on the planet”. I had not been to Cincinnati in a number of years but made it a point to go here. So much to love!
Great everything, everytime.
Great food. Didn’t have to wait long even though we arrived before reservation. They were definitely busy for Valentine’s Day but didn’t have to wait long for food.
We had a wonderful Valentine Dinner. The ribs were wonderful. :)
Food and service were very good overall. Sides were all served cold/not great for French fries & onion straws. Also requested window table for early dinner (5:15) but got stuck at a tiny interior 2 top
They have really good ribs and amazing service .
The ambience was nice . But the prices are a bit on the higher end .
Great food, especially the seafood specials. Always excellent personal service. Professional but casual.
I was in town on business and hadn't eaten there in awhile. I was very pleased that the food was as good as ever. The other 6 in my party had never eaten there. They were all very pleased with the food and drinks.
Nice birthday celebration with our son!!
Great place to dine and watch the river. great food and great service
Service Slow. Noise way too loud to have a conversation.
Asked for table near what window in reservation— couldn’t honor that. Stuck us at a tiny round table in the upper lever pathway—. Way to busy and noisy. Had a server drop a full tray of dirty glasses right behind my seat— made a mess. Mentioned in my reservation we were celebrating a birthday and told the waiter. They evidently don’t care. Don’t even acknowledge a birthday. Overall not a good experience and so disappointing as we used to love this place.
Montgomery Inn is a Cincinnati staple and not to be missed.
