About Miyama Japanese Steak House and Sushi Bar
In Japan, the word Miyama means 'beautiful mountain'. Here in Colorado, it translates into a memorable dining experience in a striking aura of Japanese tradition and decor. The ambience is stepped in history-everywhere you look, you will see rare Japanese antiques and artifacts, including 200 year-old Samurai armor and priceless Japanese 'Tansu' chests. The traditional element of Miyama's decor and cuisine is further enhanced by servers wearing brilliantly colored Kimonos. Whether, you enjoy world class sushi in the Sushi Bar and Lounge; or, prefer dining on premium steak and seafood while being entertained by the Teppan Chef at one of the sixteen 'habachi'tables, Miyama guarantees a memorable dining experience for the entire family, where children are welcomed with a special kids menu and private dining rooms are available for special occasions. **Please note that you are booking for Teppan seats. Please contact the restaurant directly for Sushi reservations**

Miyama Japanese Steak House and Sushi Bar Ratings and Reviews
Great place, great food, great service. ...
Great place, great food, great service. Fun servers.
Great food and entertainment
There were four adults in our group for an early dinner before a show. The food was excellent across the board with Miso soup, salad (with the perfect amount of dressing that wasn’t too ginger heavy) and shrimp appetizer. We ordered a variety of meats from scallops, lobster, filet and shrimp. All were cooked perfectly. We ended with a choice of three ice creams. The entertaining chef did a good job of making our food while keeping the three kids in another party happy. We ended up finishing a bit early so we stayed and had a drink in the bar. Good selection of wines and a special sangria that was delicious. Will definitely be back soon.
Lunch at Miyama
A group of us enjoyed a quiet lunch. The ambiance was great. The price wasn't cheap but the service was good and efficient. The food was tasty but the portions, especially for some, were quite small even for lunch.
Mother's Day dinner...Really high price for fair to average food and small portions. Disappointed to walk away spending over $300 and feeling unsatisfied.
Exciting Night Out
The bar staff was very friendly and attentive. Once seated at the table to the chef was outstanding and very talented. Our waitress was excellent alway there before you realized you had a needed.

Our chef was great but the wait service was poor and very slow.
This is the second time to visit within a month as we have birthdays throughout March and April. The food and entertainment were outstanding. I had the seafood lovers and everything was cooked to perfection. Wonderful evening!
Our favorite sushi place
We love coming to this restaurant for sushi/sashimi. Food is always fresh, service is good and fast, people are friendly.
Fun Japanese Steak House
We've recently moved to Colorado, and were happy to find Miyama, and that they had a reservation for us at short notice. We went to celebrate my daughter's ballet performance. There were 7 of us, and we were all happy with the food and service. The chef did a great little show at the table for us, including the onion "volcano," which my 8 year old loved. We will definitely go again, though as it's a little pricey for us, it will be a special occasion location.
Good food, good fun
We had 4 adults and 4 kids and we all had a great time. The staff was very friendly. Food and drinks were great. I'll be back.
Great fresh sushi/sashimi
We go to this restaurant regularly, and are always happy with everything.....but the last two times we went (was on Saturday for lunch), it took about 15 minutes to get checked in and a glass of water. Something is different on Saturdays I guess. The sushi were great as usual, and we will go back there with pleasure...maybe not on Saturdays.
The only thing is if you want to be seated at hibachi grill expect to seat next to some other family or families, it's to be expected from hibachi grill, but still sometimes for a special occasion people would like more privacy. Portions are not big, so don't bring too big of an appetite, but the food quality is very good
Great sushi place
We come to this restaurant regularly, and usually just sit in the lounge / bar area to get sushi. Fish is always fresh and tasty. Service usually is very prompt.

Service was slow, but understandable after a huge snowstorm. They were understaffed due to the storm. Not typical. Overall, good experience.
Wonderful as always
We celebrated my husband' birthday and had a delightful time. I had the seafood special and was pleasantly surprised with the flavor. Loved the experience and will be back!
A fun evening at Miyama
The "dinner show" is always good at Miyama as is the food.
Very good, sushi good, dessert + Appitizer shrimp!
Very tasty, priced similarly to other restaurants that are similar experience. Included free appetizer shrimps, and a dessert Ice Cream. My one critic is that we were charged for the food at menu price and then charged an additional 3 dollars per person for rice. Other restaurants don't do this pricing scheme.
Chef was awesome.

Used to be a great place
We have given Miyama many of our hard earned dollars in the past, has been a good place but just can't measure up anymore. Who runs out of miso soup on a Saturday night? We had no service, no water refills, wasn't asked for a second drink, they forgot our birthdays and brought a sloppy pile of whip cream with a candle in it out for the dessert? For the money you pay, there is other places. A search for a new hibachi place is on.
Server was too slow. Took 15 minutes just to get the check.
Will be visiting again soon.
Service fast/efficient. Chef was engaging, fun to watch and funny. Will be going again with the kids in the near future.
Need to train habachi cook a whole lot more!
These guys are terrible. Come on how about getting real hibachi cooks! That and constantly calling our wives momma-san and they are not Japanese, not good. Let me know when this improves and I may consider coming back.
Nice staff but food needs fuller flavor
It is a beautiful restaurant in the evening! The lighting is lovely and the mood is fun! I wish the food was more flavorful. The food is all there, but the food's flavor is not full. It seems like the food has all been purchased but some flavorful techniques are missing. It is lovely, and the staff were all very kind and attentive and fun!!!!
Wonderful place for sushi

I love Miyama, we come here a lot. This time my daughter picked for her 6th birthday. Fabulous, everyone greeted her by name and wished her happy birthday. She was thrilled. Good was great, only negative that the chef forgot the fried rice! Everyone had finished entrees by the time those that ordered had reminded him.

Ohhh Mannn Ohhh Mannn..the restaurant has a nice ambience ..but it's horrible on cust. service for valentine's day..my family and I made a resv. thru open table for 7:45pm..when we got here..the hostess said that there will be a 15 to 20 mins wait..we got seated at 8:20..mmmm that's more than 30 mins of waiting..I mean if we had to wait that long..what was the point of even making a resv. anyway!!! not happy with this place at all especially its my family and I 1st time coming to this resraurant! would not recommend it..especially on a special holiday!!! On a last note they failed to post their V Day menu to include the $10-$12 increase in price.

Other than super poor service by the hostesses, the food and drinks once we were finally seated was really good
First reservation I ever made and it was terrible
We made reservations for 730pm. We got there around during 730pm and they just took my name and said they will let me know when my table was ready. I heard someone by us say their reservations were for 7pm and still waiting. I asked how long and they said 35 min behind and if we wanted to find a table in the bar we could. We found a table and it took at least 10 min to get our waters but they didn't give us menus. Afters 10 more min I stopped a server and he brought us menus. 15 min later after repeatedly making eye contact with the server he didnt come get our order. He helped other tables by us more then one time, was even clearing off tables.... terrible. Terrible. We left and when to Lodos and yummmmmmm!
Overall experience, amazing. Horrible wait time.
Great experience! I have only been to a teppanyaki grill once before. The food, chef, and server were wonderful. Server kept drinks filled and meals flowing. The wait time however, regardless of a reservation was unfortunate. I made a reservation at 7:15 for 2 and was not seated until about 7:45/8.
Great family or date night place
We went for our family dinner. Everyone was friendly and attentive. They were able to make dietary adjustments right at the table. We had such a wonderful time!! Great tasting food. Will go back in a heartbeat!!
Miyama is a great place for an entertaining dinner, especially fun for kids to watch the chef prepare dinner right in front of them. The preparations are all very fresh with a few seafood options besides steak and chicken. A fun evening out.
A little disappointed
We recently visited Miyama to celebrate my husband's birthday. My family has been to Miyama many times, and we always enjoy the experience. This time, however, we were a little disappointed. Our waiter took our drink orders, I ordered tea. After it came, I asked for sweetener, and my mom asked for lemon for her water (which she asked for when she ordered the water). The sweetener did not come. We asked again and it did finally arrive. My husband ordered an appetizer, which is supposed to come with ginger and wasabi on the side, it did not. The appetizer did not come until we were eating our dinner, which is also when the salad came out. We did not have any eating utensils (either forks or chop sticks)- had to ask for them. Our waiter was very nice, but he seemed flustered and did not know what he was doing most of the time. (He told us he had only been there a week and a half). Our chef was wonderful. We also thought that our dinner came with desert, but it was never offered. We also had no soy sauce on the table and finally our chef gave us his from his prep cart. I was not impressed with the service and it did appear that we were rushed and that they were very short staffed. This is not the experience we have had in the past. My chicken was very dry.
Good food but service was only mediocre
We made a reservation for my son's birthday on a Saturday afternoon. When we arrived (on time for our reservation) we were told that there would be a 15-20 minute wait as a large table was seated 15 minutes earlier and the restaurant was short on cooks. We then waited 30 minutes past our reservation time. The hostess apologized for the wait time but made no attempt to "make it right". Dessert nor drinks were offered, nor was our bill comped at all. I understand that things happen. But what makes it or breaks it for me is how the restaurant attempts to fix those things. It would have gone a long way for me if drinks or dessert were offered or the birthday boy's meal was comped.

We went to Miyama's after the lunch rush was over, so the restaurant was quite. I haven't been back in the restaurant for a while; but, it was nice to see that the food and service has not changed. The staff and chef (Ricky) were awesome, and food was great. Thanks!!

Service was OK, but certainly not outstanding. Food preparation was fun. We found the steak to be chewy, not tender as expected. Shrimp and salmon were both good. Veggies excellent. Overall, a little disappointing.
The sushi is outstanding along with great specials and pricing! The teppan grill is over priced and not much food for the price. Teppan shrimp is $22 for 6 to 8 shrimp, a few vegetables and a bowl of rice! You are paying for the chef to do a few tricks, but pretty boring and extremely over priced! 5 people with tip and tax was $158. Go there for Sushi and Sushi only!
amazing food, nice restaurant, disorganized host
I've been to a lot of hibachi restaurants, and this place does it right. They separated the tables around the building to keep noise down. They have a nice ambiance all around. A small but fun bar with sports on the tvs and sushi bar in the middle with some tables for non hibachi goers. The hibachi chef was awesome, had some tricks I haven't seen before and was very personable. The food was delicious. I had the miyama special- I can't remember ever having scallops that good, and I'm from florida. They have a great cold saki selection, my wife and I got a flight of saki to try 5 different ones and then had a glass of the sweet nigori (I usually like the dryer junmai personally) I didn't have any sushi this time, but it looked amazing as i wandered around waiting for the hostess to get things together...30 mins after my reservation. That was the only downside, and I get the logistical issues of trying to make hibachi tables fit fully with the different groups, but the hostess was either new or lacking some competency. We were standing at host table waiting to be acknowledged and it took a couple walking in asking me if we had checked in for her to realize she hadn't spoken with us yet. Other than that (small frustration) this place is my new favorite spot. I hope the scallops are that perfect every time.
