Milano Italian Dining Ratings and Reviews
We have eaten here in the past, but it had been awhile since we've been back. It seems the menu changed quite a bit and lost some of our favorites. But, the selections were still very good and reasonably priced. It is a great location for a variety of events that place during the course of the year. It is very open and the ambient sound level hinders conversations.
Seated immediately upon arrival. Nice table where we could see across the street to the Crown Center Plaza and Mayor's Christmas Tree. Wait person helped us decide on splitting a side salad. Then things went a little off track. Another staff person brought out the entree's and we had not gotten our salads. She offered to take the entrees back and bring salads but we said we had a theater date and didn't want to mess with timing. The wait person brought out two full salads and the side my friend had ordered as we had already started on the entrees. She did 'comp' the salads and side because of the delay.
At the time we were there the restaurant was not overly crowded which was nice from out point of view. I had the fettucine which did seem a bit heavy. Could have used more sauce in my opinion. Too much for one person to eat at one sitting. I got a 'to go' container. My companion had a chicken plate with palenta. He commented that there was too much of it.
All in all an enjoyable evening .
Disappointed. It's been a couple of years since we've been. The 1st time was really nice. It felt upscale & romantic, with a delicious dinner. This visit there was no ambiance. Quiet - too quiet. No music. Big empty dining room. No table linens. Facility seems a bit run-down with paint peeling off exposed air ducts. Service was ok, but meal was not. Chicken Marsala was just ok. Pasta was overcooked & Alfredo was flavorless. Not the experience we were looking for on a special date night.
We had a good meal at Milano and no complaints about the serve staff. The view is really fun with a look at the fountains. We went on a Friday night and it was virtually empty. The restaurant needs a little updating in general, looks a little dated and the restrooms are so far from the dining area that seems a little unsafe. I wouldn't send children by themselves for sure. It might be a better place to go to during the daytime rather than an evening date. Too bad, cause it's a great location.
We visited the restaurant before a matinee at the theater. We were seated in the very pretty atrium where we could look out at the fountains and people passing by. The lunch menu offered half servings of food and they were more than ample. Three of us had fettuccini with asiago cheese and chicken. It was delicious. The caprese salad was large enough to split. The tomato bisque was also very tasty. The convenience and validated parking made this a must do again when going to the theater.
We were greeted and sat immediately. Server was very friendly and very accommodating with prompt and immediate service. Provided excellent menu knowledge by providing detailed description of some lunch favorites. We decided on the buffet. For a lunch the buffet for $13.95 seemed either a bit high priced or the pizza and salad quality should come up. One added touch to the create your own pasta portion of the buffet that would make it outstanding would be to have guests give the chef their order and they could go back to their table and eat their salad and pizza and a server could deliver their made to order pasta from the chef. The made to order portion takes a little while and instead of waiting around for it to be cooked guests could go eat and then have their ordered delivered to them thus helping shorten the crunch lunch time most business people have. Overall thought an excellent job was done.
The service was excellentand the chicken marcella was the best i have had in kc. But, Tyne calamari was rubbery and tbe lasagna was very mushy. The lasagna was advertised as having italian sausage in it. There was literally one piece of sausage in it and all cheese. The sauce was dried up and had no flavor. The waiter was the best waiter that i have ever had in my entire life...
The food was excellent, and Kye, our server, was his usual exceedingly helpful and friendly self. We definitely will continue to frequent Milano's, especially as long as Kye still is there. We've been eating at Milano's for 25 years, the last 22 of which we have been honored to have been assisted by Kye.
They changed the menu since I was last there. I was sad to see the papardelle gone and also the Osso Bucco they were my favorites. Not a big fan of the new menu used to have a lot more choices and very little seafood options. Need more portion side on the vegetables. Server was great!
Sad commentary on formerly great restaurant. Bread not fresh much less not,Italian . Service reasonable. Spaghetti with meat balls was non edible and pizza had to be a frozen pie, reheated barely.,after sending it back to be reheated, it wasn't much better. Crust was really like a frozen pizza. And to,think spin was down the hall! In all fairness 2 of us had fish that was good, but our wives meals were very poor. We won't be back!
When we arrive we were guickly seated, and almost fell on the floor because when we went to sit down our cushion in our booth wasn't attached to the bench.. bathroom didn't have any paper towels. And they weee out of multiple itailian type food.. how could a itailian place be out of Italian food?
