Michael's On East Ratings and Reviews
Michael’s on East is a special place. It’s ambiance beats no other. The food is fabulous and service is impeccable. The only complaint I would have is we were at the piano before dinner having a drink and Joe Michals who plays was a little rude. After dinner we returned for after dinner drink and he was very rude. The only downside of the evening.
It was a perfect setting for Valentine's dinner. The atmosphere is lovely, and a piano player brings an extra charm to the ambience. The food was exceptionally good( fig salad, crab cakes, and swordfish); the drinks robust, and the dessert capped off a delightful evening. The service was warm and welcoming, and we both dined with leisure even on a holiday. Of course my date made it an even better occasion. I highly recommend Michael's on East for dining excellence.
Michael's is our go=to restaurant for a special occasion or any "want to be pampered" event.
From the warm greeting from Maggie at the door, to the excellent, friendly, but professional service by Kelly, it was a splendid experience. The food is always as good as can be desired.
All our remarks are superlatives .
Having read the reviews before we booked we found the restaurant disappointing. Our reservation was for 8pm. There was a lot of loud piano playing and rowdy shouting/singing in the bar which was separated from the dining area by a flimsy curtain. Our server seemed tired and uninterested. She took a long time to bring our drinks and had to requested twice before she gave us refills.
The food was disappointing. Our starters were excellent. I had the beef carpaccio which was among the best I had ever eaten my wife said that her crab was excellent. We had read that the portions were very big so we did not order any extra sides. Mistake. I had the pork chop which was very good but I could not eat the vegetable and therefore just had the chop and nothing else. My wife could not eat her veg either.
We will not be back.
It was our anniversary and we chose to eat both apps and dinner in the bar. Didn’t count on the noise level in the bar. But that was our fault. Service unbelievably slow tho. Waiter was nice; wished us a happy anniversary when he brought the bill. We will stay in the main dining room like we usually do for dinner from now on. We do love Michaels
We had a delightful evening at Michaels. The tables were spaced so that you were not listening to other's conversations. We enjoyed the ambience of the quieter dining room. Our server was attentive, knowledgable and effecient. The appetizers and entrees were attractive as well as delicious. Michaels has a wonderful wine list. The only disappointments were the desserts (Gateau and sorbet with cookies). They were very difficult to eat . The cookie and cake were hard and lacked that flavor you come to expect, in a restaurant, such as Michaels. Desserts should compliment and end your fine dining experience on a "high note".
I usually do not leave reviews but I was amazed at how terrible the food was at this restaurant and with such a high price tag. I ordered a 14oz. fillet medium. The outside of the steak was like charcoal and the inside was terribly raw and cold. The truffle mac and cheese had no flavor whatsoever. The staff were very unprofessional and inexperienced. The check was for $150 and we could of had a better meal at longhorn steakhouse. To top it all off as we were leaving they had a CBI truck parked outside, "low quality ingredients equals low quality food which does not equal high quality price tag." Just doing this others will not waste their time and money. If you want a high quality meal at these prices go to Ruthe's Chris.
We eat out frequently and have eaten at some of the finest restaurants in the world. We now add Michael's on East to that list of great, fine restaurants. Everything about Michael's is first class, Save for a special evening with the one you love. Worth every dollar. A real treat. We will go back every time we visit Sarasota.
From the beginning in the bar to the end of our meal everything was awesome! Our table had different dishes and everyone’s food was outstanding. The people at the bar were super nice and Kimberly was our server and she is fantastic we asked for her to be our server :)
We will be back again. We tell everyone how get Michael’s on East is
Food was outstanding but our server was very inattentive. After we were seated at a table for four by the window we noticed tiny black insects (ants?) crawling on the white tablecloth. When Kelli (assistant manager?) was informed of the situation she came over with a flashlight and said she could see the insects on the tablecloth but she couldn’t see any on the floor around our table. She asked if we would like to move to another table...she really needed to ask??? Shortly after we moved she proceeded to seat another couple at the same table without addressing the insect problem. Maybe they didn’t notice? Not the level of customer service we would have expected from what had been our favorite restaurant in Sarasota. Very disappointing!
This was our 2nd visit to Michaels on East. We both had the Prix Fixe dinners. Everything was outstanding. In particular, the fish and steak entrees were both great. At $39.99 each, the Prix Fixe option represents great value for the money. In fact we couldn't finish it all and brought some back home for lunch the next day.
We are older now, so we don’t go out that often. As we were celebrating two milestone Birthdays, we decided to go to Michael’s on East. For many of our younger years this was always a favorite. The Vintner’s Dinners are exceptional.
Michael’s has a “big city” ambiance with a “New York” air. Great feel. The staff is friendly and professional. We arrived early by 6 pm for our reservation. Promptly we were seated and in no time we were enjoying a Martini with Blue Cheese Olives. The ladies ordered steak and the gentleman ordered a local Pompano. Both choices were prepared in a perfect manner, looking as good as it tasted. We choose two sides that were yummy and more than enough for a “doggie bag”. At the end of the evening, as we were finishing our bottle of wine, our waiter Joe brought us a Cream Brûlée with compliments from Michael. It could not have been a better experience. You will love it.
