One of our favorite places to go before an event at the Springer. Just amazing!
This is one of our favorites whenever we are visiting in Columbus. It is located across from Springer Theater. Parking is on the street and is often difficult to find an open space. The service and the food were both superb. My wife had the lamb and I had the scallops. You can't go wrong with either choice. While the menu doesn't designate gluten-free, the server and kitchen were knowledgeable and will find something that works for you. We'll be back. We highly recommend that you give it a try.
Delicious filet and pasta. Exceptional beet salad.
Scallops and chopped salad are favorites.
Big group at restaurant, but didn’t deter good service.
We started with a wonderful flatbread with steak and bleu cheese. I had the duck (I switched sweet potato mash for risotto, which is excellent here) and husband had andouille encrusted chicken with pasta in a Cajun cream sauce. Both meals were top drawer. The atmosphere is fine dining without being fussy. Our waiter, Johnny, was very attentive and professional and we had a nice exchange with the owner and sommelier, Faye, about the lovely Chiaretto (Rose') that we were pleased to find on the extensive wine list.
Whether for date night, pre-play dinner, or party Meritage has never disappointed us. We hear Faye is going to have to relocate. Where ever Meritage goes, we will follow
The staff was the friendliest I have encountered in a looooooong while and the food was fantastic. Johnny recommended that I amend my menu choices and he did not disappoint. I’ll definitely go back when I’m in town.
Enjoyed the evening dining. When I called and stated we were running early, the gentleman on the phone shared our table was reserved, when we arrived asked which table did we want. The statement did not go with what was said on the phone.
Our server,Johnny was wonderful, professional and caring.
Our starter was Jumbo Shrimp, simply delicious. Our Entrees , Rack of Lamb and Seafood RIOSIOTO was so tasty.
Missed having more bread and sauce, great ...could eat the bread with a cup of coffee.
The Restaurant climate was most inviting, plan to return real soon.
We just needed a night out and chose Meritage. We went early (6:15 p.m.) and there was NO crowd...just too early. The service was good, the food delicious - creatively conceived, well presented, and perfectly prepared. The crab en croute appetizer was astounding. My bride had andouille encrusted chicken which she loved and my filet au poivre vert was delightful. Our sommelier chose the perfect wines to accompany both. I'm sure my cardiologist was not happy I had a steak on fettuccine with Alfredo sauce, but my mouth and stomach out-voted him. So sorry Meritage has lost their lease and needs to relocate. We'll follow them wherever they go.
Our experience and meal was perfect in every way. The restaurant is beautiful and elegant, the staff is excellent, and the food is delicious. I can’t say enough good things about our dinner. It was absolutely perfect.
Bronzed Diver Scallops were delicious! We were looking forward to the charcuterie however it didn’t live up to our expectations. The atmosphere was warm and inviting! We will be back to try more items on the menu!
We sat right down with our reservation. We had prompt & courteous service. Our meals were delicious. My husband had the andouille crusted chicken, and I had the shrimp & grits succotash. They bring you fresh baked bread while you wait for your entrees. I also had a lemon drop martini which was excellent as well.
I would highly recommend!
The location is only one block from Broadway, quiet street but lots of parking. The restaurant had unique decor and it felt both causal but a bit more formal with the the white tablecloths. Amazing wine selection. The food options were varied. The meat and cheese appetizer was awesome and more than enough. Very knowledgeable about wine and gave us the perfect pairing!! We were very impressed by the service and our experience there. We will return!!!
My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the dinner and atmosphere of the restaurant. Our waitress was cordial and even the owner, if I am not mistaken, checked on us during our meal. I gave restaurant 4 stars for food and value simply because the food was a little too sparse for the price I paid. Either a tad more food for the money or a little cheaper price would be nice. Regardless, the food and atmosphere were great and we may very well return again sometime.
Need live piano music . Dinner was great . Service
We were looking for a place to eat while visiting Columbus for Thescon. The restaurant was highly rated, so we decided to give it a try. The food was very good; the ambiance nice; service very good; and the wine list surprisingly good for a small city. We had a Bordeaux Superieur that was a good value and got better with every sip. We look forward to going again the next time we're in town.
Meritage has become our go-to restaurant for special occasions - although it's truly a great spot for any time you want a great meal from a creative menu, served with attention to detail in a great atmosphere. The fact the owner visits - and I mean "VISITS" every table...not just a "hope things are good" fly-by - makes a huge difference.
We were there for a combined anniversary and double birthday dinner, and everything was so good. The only downside was our lack of preparedness for the Mexican Street Potato Chips served with the fish tacos - so spicy our delicate gringo palates could not handle them. But the fish tacos were extraordinary and the Andouille Crusted Chicken Breast over fettuccine was remarkable. The fourth meal was a Salmon BLT, which our guest found to have just too much bun for supper. But the salmon itself was delicious.
Not inexpensive - with an appetizer, two side salads and a cocktail, dinner for four was right at $95 before tax - but not overpriced at all. Hate that they have to relocate because their building has been sold. One thing is certain - we'll follow them wherever they land.
this restaurant is quickly becoming one of my favorite. Centrally located in Uptown Columbus, great menu choices and great service. I will always chose Meritage for my pre-event dining.
We had a lady named Taylor she was very helpful our first visit. Food was excellent Service was great would go back again especially when Faye would be there
We attended the New Year’s Eve tasting-pairing event. The owner introduced each pairing and told about each item. She also visited the tables throughout the event to ask how we were enjoying everything and to make conversation. The food was amazing, but of course it was small portions for the tasting menu. My only complaint is the servers would take your plates while you were still eating and drinking. This made us feel rushed to eat and drink.
Lovely atmosphere for any occasion, business or casual. Friendly wait staff and delicious creative dishes
My friends and I had dinner here last Saturday as a celebratory dinner. This place is simply amazing. The food from the drinks to the appetizer was scrumptious! The service and ambience was over the top great. We were running late with our initial reservation and we had no problem in getting it pushed back when we called to advise. Even though we arrived about 30 min before they closed, we were not rushed or experienced that getting ready to close ordeal. I've eating at many Farm to Table resturants around the country and this is hands down Top on my list. I will definitely go back if I'm ever in Columbus again. I would highly recommend this place if, wonderful prepared food, outstanding service and a cozy atmosphere is what you are looking for on your next dinner out.
We were dining before a show at the Springer. Scheduled an early reservation because reviews said service could be slow. We found that this was not true at all. The bartender created an espresso martini for two of my friends and they loved it. My daughter and I enjoyed the red snapper special very much and the pork belly lollipop appetizer was also good. My friends both ordered steak dishes and ate well but because they like their meat over cooked didn’t enjoy their dinners as much as they did the martinis. We were done well before show time.
I am surprised this restaurant is so far down the list of places to eat in Columbus on TripAdvisor. My family and I had one of the best dinners we’ve had in Columbus here. The beet salad and scallops were amazing. I would definitely return.
This was our first time dining at Meritage as we were visiting family newly stationed at Fort Benning. The wine list was very extensive and had some unique and interesting wines. The owner/manager guided us to a really nice reasonably priced bottle that we all enjoyed. She came back to check on us a number of times and made us feel very welcome. Oh yes, the food was fantastic as well. The pimento cheese fritters are terrific as was the ahi tuna appetizer. We had a variety of entrees and all were very good. We will definitely be back next time we’re in Columbus.
The food at Meritage is delicious. However, we have been twice in the past month and encountered issues with the service, bar, and kitchen (timing, etc.) each time. Hopefully this will be fixed so that it matches the great taste of the food.
Thoroughly enjoyed the ambience on date night. Great food, great service. Savannah was great.
Great place to meet for excellent and unusual cocktails featuring some Georgia-made liquors. I especially like the Hot Georgia Nights. The wine list is interesting and well thought out with some choices not seen in other local restaurants. The small plates offerings allow a diner to choose more than one option without being overwhelmed. Our party of six was well pleased with Meritage.
They made my birthday dinner exceptional.
The service was great i loved my food (I had seafood pasta!)
The Birbet wine was a hit with my group.
My boyfriend noticed that the manager went around to everyone’s table but ours. We were the only Black individuals in the establishment because of this, we probably won’t be visiting again. The food was delicious though.
I’ve eaten here before and had a fantastic time the first visit. This visit left a little to be desired. We sat with empty waters for a good bit and the bottle of wine that was ordered took longer then before to make it to the table. The main food order to way longer than before even though we didn’t order anything special. The tables around us that came a good while after us to the restaurant had even gotten their main food before us. When the food did come it was lukewarm. We all decided next we want to go out again that we will try a different restaurant. For the price that we payed the service just wasn’t up to par with it. It was such a great dining experience the first time which just makes it that much more of a let down this time for the money spent.
Bar space is very nice. Had salad with salmon that was terrific!
The salmon and resotto dish was incredibly good. Would have it again any time.
Highly recommend the pimento cheese fritters and the spiced peach cocktail. The risotto was decadent. Brussel sprouts were a touch heavy. Wife’s steak was done perfectly while mine was over even though we ordered them the same temperature. Will try the spot again, as we picked a horrible night to dine uptown as there were performances at the Springer and the RiverCenter the same time.
I've been wanting to try this place for a while and I'm sad I didn't go sooner. The risotto and creme brulee are to die for. The Gimlet was super tasty. Can't wait to go again!
Good food and nice wine selection.
We had just returned from Napa and got to experience Meritage. Wow. Better than any meal we had the whole time we were in Napa including the Keller restaurants. The staff were excellent and helped us select a superb wine. The snapper and fillet were absolutely delicious as was the corn risotto. The homemade rolls are to die for. We live out of town and can't wait to go back.
We were in Columbus for an event over our anniversary and chose Meritage because of a prior lunch two years ago. Dinner for 5 was absolutely fabulous. Two of us had seafood, two had steak at poivre and one had the Georgia charcuterie. Wine list was very good and very reasonable. Service was attentive and helpful. It's worth a drive!
I went there with my wife and my son to celebrate his graduation from Fort Benning becoming a soldier. My wife is a vegetarian and the menu was perfect for her and my son and I had the steak filet mignon that were unbelievable. The ambience was great and the Service was perfect. As a matter of fact we went back two days later for another meal. You can't go wrong here.
While the food was very good, our waiter was not. He had to return to the table several times because he forgot parts of our order. While he brought his tablet with him, he never looked up from it and was more concerned with finding the items we were ordering. He visited the table to often while we were eating, but not often enough when we were ready to order something else or get our check. He's "creeping" up to our table left a very weird vibe for this place.
Enjoyed our anniversary dinner immensely! The scallops were the best I've had in years! They gave us a choice of complimentary champagne or dessert for our anniversary💟 awesome dining experience.
