Great place to hang out with old friends
I was unsure what to expect when I arranged for a group of old friends to gather here. It was a warm day so we sat outside. The service was great and I love their organic options. The fries came piping hot and the beer cold- we were delighted.
Great little Irish pub but...
Great little Irish pub with great food and beers, but the interior needs updating. Several of the chairs at our table were flat out broken....the other patrons at the restaurant were fun and welcoming. The food was good and we enjoyed our dining experience!
Our first visit
We never realized we were missing out on enjoying such a great place right in our own neighborhood! But what a find! The service was good and included a table visit from the attentive but friendly manager. Plus we were very impressed with the food. I had shepherd's pie which was delicious! But my wife had a grilled feta sandwich with chicken that was out of this world. And the onion rings are the best I've had in years. I highly recommend!
We chose the restaurant for its proximity to a movie theater we were going to afterward. The server was very nice and knew the beer and cider list well. I got the curried carrot soup and found it a lot thicker and heavier than I expected, but with a nice flavor. I also got the fish tacos and they were fine. I did not get much feedback on my companions' meals. We'd go back if we needed to, but it was not real special to us.
I came to the restaurant for midtown restaurant week and was surprised to find out it was not being offered at this location although it was listed on multiple sites. The Executive Chef was very accommodating and made the experience most memorable. The food was great! The customer service was on point. And I loved the fact that the Executive Chef checked on our table and invited us back with upcoming events at the pub.
Ordered trout and meatloaf - not traditionally Irish, but waitress said they were both good. Trout was fried and overcooked, but the veggies underneath were excellent. Meatloaf was seasoned well, but a little on the dry side. Waitress was excellent - very attentive and friendly. We'd try again, but would try the Irish menu next time around.
We have always loved the original Meehans in downtown ATL, however, Meehan's Public House is far from that experience. Service is poor, food is not the same, and the atmosphere is bad as well. If you want a great Irish bar, stay with the original Meehan's on Peachtree in ATL, it is a great experience.
