McEwens - Oxford

Friday & Saturday 5:00pm - 10:00pm
Without a doubt the best dining in Oxford!
The service was prompt, friendly and professional. We liked the decor and the creative menu.
I have eaten here several times and have enjoyed a good meal each visit. I especially enjoy there Sunday Brunch
My daughter and I were in town for a softball tournament. We always try to have a really nice meal while visiting other places. This place was superb from the first bite to the last. Highly recommended!
Four of us had Sunday brunch. We had the Bunless Burger, Shrimp and Grits, Veal, and Chicken Piccata. All dishes were well prepared and perfectly seasoned. All-in-all it was a great meal.
Wonderful service, delicious food. Accommodated us at the last minute with a change in the number of our party. Love McEwens!
Went to McEwen's for Sunday brunch to celebrate an Anniversary. Greeted by the hostess and seated quickly, amble time to review the menu, drinks served immediately, reasonable time from order to table service and lots of drink refills in between. My husband dropped his napkin and the server brought another one immediately and said he saw it hit the floor. Great brunch selections. I had the eggs benedict with steak and lump crabmeat. It was delicious. My husband chose the country fried veal and said it was amazing. Portions were nice and overall experience was 5 stars. The only item that needs work are the beignets...dough is too thick and taste not sweet enough.
Bartender is the best in Oxford
We were seated next to the bar which is pretty loud but maybe we should be happy to have found a table in Oxford on a big weekend. The menu was interesting - new dishes, new techniques but I didn't get the raves about the food from my guests this time. A little disappointing but the biscuits and drinks were great so we will be back.
Family get together.
This was our first visit to McEwen’s. Overall the food was good with good ingredients but the seasonings needed a little work. The appetizer of calamari we shared was very good but the pomodoro and mignonette sauces that accompanied it were under seasoned and left a lot to be desired. We each had a cup of the duck confit gumbo and while the quality of ingredients seemed high the roux had been overcooked and had a slightly burned flavor and it was too salty as if the salt used to cure the confit had not been adequately rinsed off before being added to the gumbo. The no cake lump crab cake was exactly as advertised with no breading and lots of crabmeat. However it did need some binder with seasoning to hold it together as it was bland.
McEwens is one of the best - if not the best - restaurants in Oxford, MS. Solid, but interesting menu, excellent and friendly waitstaff. A variety of tables, booths, etc. All in all, a treasure in a town known for excellent restaurants.

Great restaurant! We will return!
Always a pleasure to be there
Terrific as always! We never make a trip to Oxford without a meal at McEwens!
Delightful occasion. The trout dish was delightful and the others raved about their dish. Very pleased with the service and the consistency of this restaurant. Top drawer.
I always love my service at McEwen's. My friends and I think it has a New York vibe, which makes it a priceless spot in Oxford, and the food is always fantastic! It's a must visit during lunch or dinner!
Always enjoy! Service helpful and nice, food is prepared the way we like it.
We went to McEwens Oxford to celebrate having my mom in town for Double Decker and to spend time with her granddaughters. Everything was perfect - the food was delicious - inspried really, and our waiter was wonderful! Attentive, but not over-bearing.
A wonderful night - thank you!
Food was good but not great. Service was ok but not great
Mcewens’s continues to be the best restaurant in Oxford! We love it. Great food. Great wait staff. Perfect!
The menu is deep, with multiple options for every taste. Being a big fan of other restaurants in the area I was prepared to not like it.... but it surpassed all expectations !
Very good restaurant on the Oxford square. We enjoyed everything each of us ate. I very much enjoyed my no-cake-crab-cake!
We had a wonderful dining experience after the Ole Miss baseball game. The sea bass entree was wonderful, and the strawberry creme brûlée was fantastic! We are I’ll definetly done here the next time we go to Oxford. A+++
Food was excellent as usual.
Three friends and I had dinner at McEwen's on a busy Saturday night. We sat in the long dining area on the right side in a booth. The restaurant was nearly full, but we were about to chat without shouting. The food was excellent. I recommend the wedge salad and the duck gumbo. Our waiter, Luke, was lovely, and our cocktails were exceptional.
We were visiting our son in Oxford and chose McEwens based on reviews from friends as well as the location being on the Square. The appetizers were the best part of the meal. There were 6 of us dining. We had the lobster mac n cheese, buttermilk fried oysters and charcuterie platter. It was all delicious! We each had a wedge salad and an entree. The people who ordered the filet, the ribeye special and the wild salmon had nothing but wonderful things to say. My husband and I had the no crab cakes over grits and the trout. The crab cake was a little fishy tasting and the grits were a bit too spicy for me. My husband said that there wasn't much flavor to the trout. We ended the meal with a couple of desserts for the table. The banana cream pie with Ganache and Avocado Lime creme brulee. Both of them were excellent. Overall the experience was top notch, just wish our entrees would have been a bit better.
The food and service was wonderful. It is one of the few restaurants on the Square in Oxford that will take a reservation. I have always had great meals there and the value of a reservation on a weekend cannot be over stated.
Two friends and I had dinner, and all agreed the food was delicious. The server was solicitous. The ambiance was comfortable. The drink with rye whiskey that one of my friends had was “perfect.” All in all a good evening.
Big thanks to the manager who had setup the table to recognize our wedding anniversary. Turned out to be one of three wedding anniversaries there and we all had the same friendly waitress. Felt special and not over the top. Steak was tasty and the Mac and cheese as an app was great as we ate a little more than usual.
McEwan's is an absolute favorite of ours and has been one for years. The menu changes often enough that it stays interesting yet keeps favorites around long enough to have something you love a few times. The service is impeccable and it's pricing is more than fair. The cocktails are great and the wine list is great too. WE LOVE MCEWANS!
I took my girlfriend here because she was visiting Oxford for the first time and I was told that McEwen’s was the place to go. It met every expectation and surpassed them. The food was amazing. I got the New York Strip with Shrimp and my girlfriend got the Lamb shanks. Both meals were delicious. The amazing food and service made our night very memorable. Thank you so much.
Love this place. Never had a bad meal. Service is exceptional.
The waiter forgot to submit our order. We were there 2 hours for a simple brunch. We were given 2 drinks & a dessert for the wait.
Always have a great meal and a great time at McEwens!
I spend about two nights a year in Oxford for business reasons and my nephew is in law school there. My wife & I met our nephew for cocktails and dinner at McEwen's (recommended to me by my Sales Director, who does a lot of business dinners). First off, the bartender (I don't recall his name) was outstanding! He was knowledgeable, very personable and professional (plus he tells a great joke). Dinner was outstanding. We ordered the Masa Dusted Catfish, Beef Tenderloin with crabmeat and smoked salmon salad, plus lobster mac. For dessert we had chocolate pie, cheesecake and banana nut bread pudding. The catfish wasn't as crispy as my wife liked, the beef tenderloins were perfect and the salmon caesar salad may be the best salad I've ever eaten. We shared our deserts and agreed the banana nut bread pudding was the best. I highly recommend this restaurant!
One of my favorite Oxford restaurants. The food is always good and the staff is kind and patient.
The sea bass was absolutely phenomenal, as were the biscuits. Eddy, our server, knew the menu well and made great recommendations!! The only part we did. It like was the cream pie, which was a little tough. However, we went for a birthday and they did an awesome little treat by putting trick candles in the pie! Overall a wonderful wonderful meal!!
McEwen's is consistently good! I've always enjoyed good service, food and drinks.
We had a competent and attentive wait staff .
My salmon with fried capers was perfectly cooked -very moist and flaky . Lovely meal .
Definitely a great place to dine !
