Match Eatery and Public House - Vernon Ratings and Reviews
Very disappointed with match eatery on Saturday march 18th. It was my mothers 55th birthday and for the last hour of our meal we were forgotton. The waitress went home and no one looked after us. We were then treated horribly and they threw away my food that I wanted packed up to take home. Will not be going back
We had a reservation( one of few in advance it appeared). We were placed in a poorer location near a cash register. Breaking into coin rolls behind me was a bit disturbing.
Two meals were great. My steak was a bit lukewarm so it must have been lingering on the counter while the other two meals were finalized. It was done right but a bit low on the temperature side. Medium rare cool was not what I ordered.
The others were impressed and more than satisfied and I was "OK".
The food was excellent - there was no complaints on that in our group of 8. The drinks were not quite right, the bartender is maybe inexperienced? If you are paying $9.00 for a drink - it should be good. That was our only complaint of the night, was the martini's were just not right. The server was good - but in a large group we should have been asked if we were celebrating anything - because we were. It didn't take away from the service though - but it would have made it a more personal experience
While we extremely enjoyed our brunch, and the staff, we are really sorry the menu for lunch/dinner has changed so much. There were many things from the old restaurant which we went there for particularly. There were hardly any other people there when we had our brunch so noise level was non-existent. So, would recommend for brunch but not for the other meals.
The piano music was fantastic. The best part of the evening. Having multiple TV's with sports was great too. When it came to the drink selection it was less than great for us. The food was overcooked without flavour. The chicken was the smallest piece with beets and beans and potatoes. Again not our taste. There was supposed to be a berry sauce which was not reflected in the taste at all.
What started out as, "Let's try Match" before a movie, turned into a new pallet favourite. We ordered the Shanghai chicken bites, dry ribs and side salad which were very good and hit the spot as $5 appetizers. What stole the show was our leap of faith on the deep fried Oreos. North America's favourite cookie smothered in a mini donut batter, deep fried to perfection, sprinkled with powdered sugar and displayed with chocolate sauce and raspberries. One bite was all it took to fall in love. We are returning to try the chicken and waffles and fish and chips as they looked amazing coming out of the kitchen.
Our reservation for 20 started off with only room for 12. We had to wait with people standing around until other tables opened up. Service was very poor. People waited for their drinks for up to an hour! Really unacceptable. Food came out very slowly with the first served finishing their dinner before the others even got theirs. One person did not get hers at all, and unfortunately she did get a bottle of wine. No dinner and a bottle of wine made for a belligerent confrontation with the waitress. The waitress tried to make it up to them, but really it was too little, too late. The 15% tip was already added to our bills, otherwise I would not have left anything. Will not be going back!
