Mastro's Steakhouse - Beverly Hills Ratings and Reviews

We were completely and utterly, shocked and disappointed by the service we received at the BH Mastros the other night. We live in Malibu and frequent the Mastros Ocean Club, where the service is heads and shoulders above the BH one. From the minute we arrived, and were forgotten about as three other tables were seated before us although they arrived after us, we knew we were in for a very different experience, even though we had romantic memories of a wonderful birthday dinner spent there many years ago. To being utterly and completely ignored by our waitress once our order had been placed. At the Ocean Club your food is served to you, with a genuine desire to make the experience topnotch. At the BH restaurant a guy came by literally dropped all our sides on the table, didn't explain a single item that was set down and walk away mumbling about the "hot plates." Our waitress didn't come check on us or ask us if we wanted another glass of champagne. Put it this way, we were in and out of there within one hour fifteen minutes!!! It was a mess. And it was certainly not up to the standard of service we're accustomed to while dining at Mastros. We picked it because we had had a long day of shopping for a couple of charity events and knew we could trust the service and food quality. Next time we'll skip BH Mastros and wait the extra hour, until 6pm with EBaldi opens. Bottom line folks, save your money, this feels very "tourist trapish."

I would only come here for steaks. Everything else is truly a waste of money. For ex: Only farmed raised salmon...for $42 bucks at that. That's laughable. It was way too noisy. The dress code was not enforced so we felt overdressed. The tables were too close together so it didn't really feel intimate. Would I go back? Maybe next year or something.

after a number of years we decided to retry Mastro's, what a suprise, we loved it!
Our wait person, Jovanny, was pleasant and efficient, our chopped salads were icy with just enough dressing, we split the "small" porterhouse done perfectly medium rare (with just a touch of salt), the onion rings were just right (not fried breading with a little onion) and the pecan pie ala mode was the best we have had since 1951. (Bardstown coffee shop, I wonder if they are still in exhistance and still serve it?)

went here an hour earlier than our reservation but were greeted warmly and seated within 10 minutes. The restaurant is beautifully appointed-we all loved the decor. Our waiter was very patient and did not rush us even though we were taking all our time. He was very helpful with suggestions and descriptions to all of us. The food was good though not extraordinary. The best dish was the creamed corn which was not what we ordered but we happily accepted!!! We actually had a very enjoyable evening and I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.

Our experience at Mastro's was one of a kind. I was hesitant about coming here because of the reviews I read about the bad music and annoying noise levels and the "rude" waitors, but I decided to give it a shot anyways. We were sitting right next to the live music and were still able to talk to each other. The music was very enjoyable and the band was pretty unique. The food was absolutely AMAZING! Best steak I've ever had, and the prices were reasonable. The drinks were good too. After we finished eating, our waitress brought us a huge piece of chocolate cake with "congratulations" written on it because we were celebrating something special. The cake was so moist and sweet. Yum! I was very satisfied with the environment, service, and food and I will definitely be coming here again.

we were seated upstairs in the bar area where there was live outdated music, very annoying to try and have a conversation over the loud music, was very disappointed, Our reservation was at 6pm, the place was virtually deserted wqhy we were seated upstairs I do not have a clue returned here for the ambiance and good food, but got a rude awakening, probably wont be going back any time soon.

The food was good. All of us had steake. It was very good quality meat - tasteful. The biggest ptoblem, and the reason I would not recomend this restaurant, is the lighting - it was too dark! We could not read the menues without using the flash light our cell, and we could barely see the food that we were eating. This in easy fix - do it!!

The lighting is way too low. You can't even read your menu due to the low lighting. Everyone at my table had to use the flashlight app on our cellphones in order to read in the dark which our server suggested we do. Either they need to turn the lighting up a tad bit or take a suggestion from Disney's Blue Bayou restaurant and get illuminated menus.
The live music was great. Very loud, but great nonetheless. Conversing with your companions is virtually impossible due to the noise level.

Came for a birthday and engagement and ended. Waiter asked what we are celebrating. After telling him upon his inquiry he stated that due to the double celebration, he is providing us with two cakes. We ended up paying for what was supposed to be two complimentary cakes that we didn't request to begin with. The steak was good but the rest of the food was okay. We also paid for the bread without knowing it is not complimentary. Would have considered returning if it wasn't for the scam of pushing celebratory expensive cakes at our own expense.

If you love steaks, look no further. Absolutely the best Ribeye money can buy, I recommend the bone in ribeye which is their signature steak. Service at most of their locations will be excellent and the food is just great. The side dishes are a la carte and come in large portions, so ordering the 1/2 portion side dishes is the way to go. Lobster mashed potatoes are fantastic. If you are celebrating a special occasion, let them know in advance and they will throw in a chocolate or butter cake as a courtesy.

Went for my birthday. Shared the Wagyu strip 8 oz. , heirloom tomato salad, ½ doz. oysters, mixed sauteed mushrooms & dessert. A good Pinot Noir recomended by out server Tony. Had a great early dinner before a concert in LA....

Sorry, Mastro's. You have the best food around, for sure, and great service. But we were there on a Tuesday evening at 6:30, a party of five to celebrate my son's birthday. And there was, to my great surprise, live music--LOUD live music. I felt as if I was in a bar--could not hear the person across from me talking. This was the antithesis of what I had hoped for--a quiet, leisurely meal. Couldn't wait to get out of there. Please limit the amount of time and location of such live music venues. Thank you.

The service was consistently bad. We were seated for at least 15 minutes before our drink order was taken, the server treated us as an inconvenience, and then after dropping a frozen piece of chocolate cake for a birthday, our server was nowhere to be found for 20 minutes before he came back with the check and then asked if we wanted to order anything else for dessert. The complimentary piece of cake for a birthday we were celebrating was very nice, but we wanted to try other desserts and after dinner drinks. While grateful the restaurant went out of their way to personalize our special occasion, it was not by request and we would have happily paid for the further items and service we expected. Very disappointing.

Arrogance at its best. The doorman stood and did not respond to questions about valet which was backed up and no be in sight. It was a Monday night and not that busy. He then filled me in that dress shirts and dress shorts I was wearing did not live up to dress code which is stated as business casual. But we could dine on the lower floor because it was Monday. I watched several men come in in jeans and some with tee shirts then go upstairs. I did not know that Business casual had been changed to include jeans. I informed him that if they served steak on the 1st floor that was why I was there. I guess my $500 plus bill for 3 was not good enough. My food was great and the server was excellent although not through any fault of his the entrees took longer than they should have.
my wife and daughter went up to see the upper two floors which they said were nice although the second floor with a woman singing was loud.
I have been to many fine ding places and if it was a busy night or weekend would have dressed differently but a Monday night after shipping Rodeo all I wanted was a steak not attitude. By the way none of the stores we went into on Rodeo seemed to mind charging my credit card
Any way I would recommend for food and drink but be prepared for an attitude

If you like to eat in the dark with super loud music go ahead. We couldn't see the menu without flashlights and couldn't see our food almost at all. Ambiance and mood lighting are nice but this was a bit much. Overpriced wine list and the waiter totally ignored us after his push for $35 side dishes and the ability to add truffles to anything.
