This was a good value in that the quality of the menu was commensurate with the price. It wasn't the best Italian food I've ever had, nor the worse. It was decent and priced appropriately. The best thing about the place was Luisa herself. Still going strong at 86, she was fun and vibrant to talk to. She was a gracious hostess, but not overwhelmingly so. She had a lot of history and stories to tell, which, for out-of-towners like us, was very cool.

Luisa cooks the most authentic Italian in ALL of San Francisco. This place is simply the best!

My friend and I went here for the first time. I had been to her place on Union street for years. The food is always good, not great, but just consistently good. Luisa is very sweet and I do like her but both my friend and I wanted to have a conversation with each other and Luisa kept coming over to talk to us. Not just to say a "hello" but o have a long, drawn-out conversation for 5 minutes! And, then, she came back several more times during our meal! She needs to stay out of the main dining room or limit how much time she spends with each customer. It is nice at first but wears thin after the 5th time she stops by to ask you how you like her meal and to remind you how she is the best in the Bay Area, etc. I will not be back.
