Log Haven Ratings and Reviews

Overall really nice place. For Utah where the bar is preposterously low for dining, this place exceeds it by a large margin. Food was overall very good. The 44 Farms steaks are magnificent. The grilled octopus was overcooked and chewy, which also might reflect the difficulty of finding fresh seafood in Utah.
The most notable failing, and greatest room for improvement, is that our dinner was understaffed. Our poor (and sweet-hearted) waitress had too many tables to attend to, she also was required to deliver food and drinks. We noticed no other attendants to help with good service There was also a lack of a sommelier. There was no digestif menu forcing our waitress to go find out what cognacs were available adding to her workload.
If Log Haven wishes to compete and become a top restaurant, these shortcomings need addressing.
Overall however, and given the poor choices of restaurants in this state, we will likely return.

We had a reservation at 7:15 we got there at 7:00. They didn't have our table ready at 7:15. The food was great, a little over cook for the lobster but the steak was fabulous. The prices was a little expensive but you pay for the experience not the food. We would go back but we have to save up first.

Most of the food was great, the alpine nachos were not good at all. Our serving staff was mediocre, not what I expect from Log Haven. Honestly I've had better experiences here. One bone to pick, refill for free. It is standard in most every restaurant, and when you are paying 150 for dinner it feels cheap not to refill your soda.

Service was Amazing. Salads were great. Halibut was firm and fresh.
Tables for 2 are very, very close which takes away some of the dining atmosphere .
Parking was a treat via Valet system. See you agin soon.

My family and I have been dining at the Log Haven for 5 years now and have never been disappointed. The Log Haven has becomes a reliable place that we know we can enjoy ourselves at. The effort they go through to make sure their customers have an enjoyable evening comes across very clearly. Even when we try something new, it is a very familiar, cozy experience.

Log Haven is a gorgeous restaurant in an equally gorgeous canyon setting, with waterfalls, streams, ponds, forests and mountains surrounding it. The food from chef David Jones is superbly executed and quite creative, yet comforting.
The restaurant has an excellent wine, cocktail and beer list and the servers are very knowledgeable with wine recommendations and such.
This is a perfect spot for special occasions, but also a terrific restaurant to enjoy fine dining any old time.

Log Haven is such a special experience. The drive up gets you in the mood for beauty and "slow down " time. Donny was an excellent, very patient server for a group of giggly older ladies. We could not have asked for a better birthday experience! Thank you.

We were seated quickly and were well attended by the wait staff. We started out with the charred octopus salad which was surprising different and delicious!!
I had the Bison and my wife had the Halibut. I have not had Bison before and I was nervous about it being tough and gamey, it was neither.

Log Haven's rustic charm was the perfect setting for dinner with my Midwest guests. Our server was delightful and the service was excellent. Signature cocktails before dinner were nicely crafted and tasty. I had the low cal special. The yellow fin tuna was lightly seared with sides of grilled asparagus with Parmesan shavings, mushrooms and a tarragon sauce. All were flavorful. I would have preferred a "crustier" sear on the tuna. The salad and dessert that accompanied the meal were good, but not memorable.
My dining companions' entrees were a 'Surf & Turf' (sirloin steak and lobster) and the Market Fish. The steak and lobster were nicely prepared (medium rare steak) and well-seasoned. The halibut in the market fish entree was beautifully cooked, but the spicy sauce that accompanied the fish overpowered the delicate flavor of the halibut and the hash brown potatoes that accompanied the dish. The entree portions were quite generous and in spite of being "stuffed", we just had to try the warm peach cobbler for dessert. It was very good.
We had a very enjoyable evening at Log Haven. I would recommend it to others and will surely be back again.

Our server was terrible, we rarely saw her. The bar drinks were awful and taster like pure sweet and sour. The food took forever and our waiter never gave us an update; she didn't show up until we sent another server to find her and our food. It took so long we asked for our check as soon as she dropped off the plates. Our steaks were cooked wrong but we didn't even mention it in fear of getting trapped there longer. She didn't come back to run our card so we again had to ask another server to run our payment. The setting is beautiful but we will not be back or recommend. Definitely not worth the money. Worst service we have had.

Log Haven was a wonderful experience all around! The drive from Salt Lake City was scenic, but short, a beautiful setting! Our waiter, Erik, was wonderful, his recommendations impeccable! Our party had the delicious seasonal tomato and mozzarella with balsamic reduction appetizer. We then had three different entrees: the bison, the halibut, and the scallops with ravioli which were to die for! Desserts were lovely as well, a favorite being the house-made ice creams and sorbet. This is a don't miss spot if you are anywhere near SLC!

Great ambience. Friendly and professional service. On the pricey side but meal was excellent. No significantly chocolate option on the dessert menu was the only disappointment. We had to have that at home. Will be back.

We had the Early Bird Special which is lobster and sirloin . The lobster was OK but the steak not that good.
I've had better at Outback or Texas Roadhouse for much less. The meal for my wife and I came to $120.00 with the tip. The service was good and the ambiance was fun, but just couldn't justify the price with the food quality.
