Sever was very unhelpful , never asked how our meal was . Manager checked on us after our salads but never again . Cesar Salads were brown and not fresh . Osso Buco was tasteless . The chefs three pasta of the evening were over cooked .
Not sure where the chef lost his pride in what was supposed to be an enjoyable evening with fresh home made food .

Food average. Menu had changed since we were there in August. Disappointed in main course options. Server was snippy and quite honestly not very friendly. We felt rushed. Guessing she just wanted to quickly turn the table and move on to other customers. We will not recommend and will not return.

We visited on an evening en route to Kauffman Center (about 5 minutes away) to enjoy the Kansas City Symphony.
The first thing that struck us was the warm, beautiful decor. Lidia's is flat-out inviting with an attractive bar area, imaginative reuse of a former railroad freight station and some nice artistic touches.
We enjoyed the signature pasta trio three-course offering, and, frankly, everything from the ample and fresh Caesar Salad to the all you can eat pasta offerings to the wonderful dessert plate left us wanting to return for another sitting.
The staff was friendly and attentive. Management was obviously involved and observant, and there was not one need unanticipated or addressed quickly.
We'll note here that we both have mobility challenges due to injuries. There was no limitation imposed by design or service; however, the brick sidewalks in the freight yard complex were a challenge due to their uneven nature.
In short, we'll recommend Lidia's to those seeking a fine taste of Italy in Kansas City. And, for those who haven't experienced the Heartland of America a la Kansas City - come enjoy a vibrant dining, arts, sports and cultural experience second to none!

There were six of us for dinner. This was my third time there. We were seated at a great window table that was quiet enough for good conversation. Most of us had different dinners although two had Lidia's signature pasta three ways. The waiter was happy to make substitutions. All the dishes were delicious, especially my gnocchi with duck ragout. We were too full for dessert. Too bad because they sounded good. I highly recommend Lidia's.

As always, the food and service were top notch. We had a most enjoyable evening. The only "issue " perhaps is that they did not notice or followed the comment we put on the Open Table reservation. In times past, when we mentioned an anniversary or birthday, the restaurant did a few extra things to make it more special. This time our visit there was treated as a normal dinner.

The décor at Lidia's is so refreshing and unique and the recently updated bar area is inviting. This is an overall enjoyable dining experience especially when bringing out of town guests who haven't been before. The food however isn't outstanding except for a few dishes. one of my guests had the lemon chicken which was excellent. The pasta trio is interesting but as usual, not outstanding. The Osso Bucco was acceptable but I would not order it again as the meat was on the dry side and the barley risotto was dry and limited on flavor.

We hadn't been to Lidia's in a long time, but it was as good as we remembered. I had the pasta trio which featured a short rib ravioli in butter sauce, corkscrew pasta in marinara with fresh basil and fettuccini with shrimp and zucchini. All three were delish. My husband had the Saturday special, pork porchetta with roasted garlic potatoes and he loved it. Generous portions all around. Great Caesar salads to start the meal and I turned mine into a 3-course so we shared a dessert that was yummy. Blood orange martini was also fabulous. Would highly recommend for a special occasion or just a splurge.

A friend recommended Lidia's as I was visiting my son in KC. We got there ahead of our reservation and were able to sit and have a drink/appetizer in the bar and then seated promptly when our table became ready. Service was top notch as was the food. Great environment. Definitely will return.

This is a return visit for dinner at Lidia's Kansas City, and it never disappoints me. I really liked the newly remodeled bar. It has a good happy hour food and drink menu with very good prices. We had a glass of wine while waiting for our reservation. Once our table was ready, we ordered the pasta trio. It is our favorite dish since you get three different pasta dishes to try. I am never disappointed in these pastas, which are unique and not found at any other Kansas City restaurant.

I had a group and one person ordered the endless pasta, when he requested an additional serving to our server she said it would be right over. We had requested an additional serving of the pasta to three other workers an again to the server and that another worker clear his plate and the check came and finally the pasta person came.

Ask for a table next to/near the bar. The entertainment added to a great meal with fantastic service. Not too loud that you couldn't have a conversation and just loud enough to hear great music and songs. Sea Bass and pork chop we prepared to perfection! Great experience!!

Not the best night for Lidia's. Based on how slowly food came out of the kitchen, I would guess they were understaffed in the kitchen. Wait staff did a pretty good job of covering, but we noticed timing issues at a number of tables, including ours. We waited 45 minutes for our appetizer. Salads were delivered to a table of 3 about 60 seconds before their entrees came. Our coffee and cappuccino was brought to our table, we drank it . . . our desserts were then delivered . . . we ate it . . . we then received refills on our coffee. We wanted coffee & dessert - together. We finished our meal as a table of 3 near us were just receiving their entrees . . . and they were seated only a minute or two after us.
I didn't complain because it was our 25th wedding anniversary and didn't want my wife to wait while my plate was fixed, but my duck was terribly undercooked. I expect medium-rare duck breast. What I was served was blue-rare duck breast - actually cool to the touch. I couldn't believe is was sent from the kitchen so obviously undercooked. The duck was sliced prior to plating, so the kitchen and wait staff knew it was undercooked, if they were paying attention to the quality of the food being served. I covered it in polenta and choked it down - with a smile.
Grilled octopus was amazing, creamy polenta and brussel sprouts paired with the duck was excellent. The raw duck and slow service from the kitchen rather killed the meal for me.

Well, my wife and i keep "pseudo-kosher", so sometimes it is hard to find a nice restaurant where we can have more selections than just a piece of salmon. The pasta trio at Lydia's is always very good. A Caesar salad is enough to feed the two of us. Still, with some alcohol and a tip, we spend over $100....for some pasta. Oh well, I guess that's the way it is.

Very noisy. Waitress hit my chair at least thirty times when she walked by.
Every time we took a sip of water the bus girl filled it to the brim literally, every sip, it was so annoying. I ordered pasta trio, that was supposed refilled. No one ever came by to refill. Dinner took 1 1/2 hours. We didn't mind, but we would have like our drinks refilled during that 1 1/2 hours.

I used to be a big fan of Lidia's but I feel that it's gone downhill quite a bit as our last two visits here have been disappointing. Our waitress was knowledgeable, but ultimately kind of rude and not very attentive. The pasta trio, which is what we normally order, was nothing special. I felt that the bolognese sauce was too salty, and the other two pastas were just kind of OK but nothing special. We also had someone order the ribeye and while it was cooked well, it was not seasoned very well. I'm not sure I'll come back here unless I have a specific reason to when there are so many other good restaurants in the city.

It seemed like we were seated in an area that was heavily populated while the other half of the restaurant was empty. Noise level was too high! I felt crammed into our space. It would have been more comfortable to space the guests out alittle at tables so we didn't have to listen to 5 other conversations going on. Not very comfortable dining experience.

Lidia's came highly recommended, however we found it to be way too commercial. The menu was a limited Italian. I tried the 3 pasta sampler. To me, it was very bland. It was "all you can eat" with the servers bringing around refills in a skillet. However, the service was a drawback. One of 3 of us ordered the 4 course tasting menu. Her first 2 courses came out very quickly, while our 3 person, who had ordered a salad, never received it. Grappo, which was supposed to accompany the tasting menu, didn't show up either, until a manager came by and we asked it. Our waitress was pleasant enough, just not attentive. This restaurant seemed like a large chain with very little attention to guests or food.

Food was amazing - service was amazing; didn't care for how close tables were to each other. Really don't like listening to neighbors conversations. Was grateful that we went early, so we didn't have the noise for the entire time we were there.

Always enjoy our time at Lidias. Food is always good. There is something on the menu for everyone. Nice place to come with friends, family , or out of town guests. Nice wine list. Tiramisu is to die for.
Would recommend to anyone. And will always return.
Nice Sunday Brunch too !
