Le Fou Frog Ratings and Reviews
This was our first time dining at Le Fou Frog and we were not disappointed. It was our 25th wedding anniversary and we wanted something special and the atmosphere was great and our food was fantastic. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the night. It felt like a special place for a special occasion! We will be back!
The waiter asks what main you would like, then asks each of us what appatizer we want, wanting us to each buy our own.(pushy) then they push you to buy a salad each. I said ill skip the salad. Guess what I got a 10 dollar pile of spinach and carrot spirals anyways. I dont see why pricey places feel the need to be like a sales job, taking on items and charges. $120.00 later the best thing was the free truffles at the end (im sure they charged somewhere)
We have enjoyed Le Fou Frog as a favorite restaurant for about 6 years. After moving to KC 4 years ago, we continued to make it a go to special restaurant. We have introduced friends to it as a favorite place to go. However, on our last visit we had an unexplainable terrible experience with non existent service. We waited a very long time for our drinks and again our food. Our server, Susie, was too busy chatting with tables she wasn't serving or tables who were leaving to give us any attention. We had to ask another waiter to get our bill. She was having a lengthy conversation with the table next to us which was not her table about a friend's new restaurant. She never even asked how our food was. This is totally unacceptable at a top notch high end restaurant. We complained to her and she had the management speak to us and they comped our meal and offered dessert which we declined. Free food is not our goal and it did not make up for a very disappointing special restaurant event. So sad to have this negative experience a a favorite place.
My in-laws were in town to visit and they lived in Paris for a year, so I thought some French cuisine would be fun! We had such a great dinner, the food was amazing, and our server was very knowledgeable about the entire menu. They have a paper menu for the offerings that they always have, and then an even bigger menu on a chalk board for their seasonal offerings. We got two bottles of the house wine (bourdeaux) and were shocked at how expensive it tasted! I got the lobster tails with risotto -- super rich but SO good! We will definitely come back! Perfect for a nice date night or special occasion!
Never disappointed! When you enter you feel as if you have stepped into a French cafe in France! The food is outstanding and the service is impeccable. I am astounded at the varied menu selections. When we are out with friends and we get to choose - this is our first choice for a dining experience!
This is one of our favorite places. On Saturday we went for our anniversary and the owner was screaming at his staff at the beginning of the evening which wasn't uncomfortable for my husband and i because i come from a loud family BUT i did feel embarrassed for the staff.
Although our server didn't seem very polished, it didn't take away from a beautiful dinner on a beautiful Friday evening. We sat on the covered patio, and it definitely transports you to rustic France. The food here is excellent, and the serving size is outstanding. So many French restaurants in KC really parcel out portions, but not Fou Frog. The appetizer, soup and entree all were very plentiful. We enjoy that they provide a handy smoking area, something not found in many restaurants, and it lends to the charm. Also seeing chef and his lovely wife mingle with diners is a treat. We had a wonderful anniversary dinner!!!
Always a treat for us to dine at Le Fou Frog. The vibe is always energetic. The ambiance is eclectic and the food is amazing. On this visit, our server was frequently distracted by another table, thus the service level provided to us on this most recent visit was less than what is our common experience. But, she made up for it with apologies and bought me a martini, so all was good in the end.
