I visit this restaurant every time I am in Chicago (monthly). The classic Vietnamese food is prepared skillfully with wonderful flavors layered throughout each dish. The atmosphere is perfect for a celebration, or to just enjoy a lovely meal with a glass of wine and people watch. Service is very professional and accommodating. I am looking forward to my next visit over Thanksgiving weekend!

Arrived early but was still seated a good 20 minutes late. We saw others arrive after our party, order after us and still get their meals earlier. I'm ok with busy, but not poor service. If you're running behind, comp a drink, appetizer or dessert. Otherwise don't expect a return visit or a recommendation.

Food was great. Dinning room is very crowded - tables on top of one another - no privacy. It is loud but the food is great and for the right part or date is is a great time. Do not plan for this to be an intimate or private dining experience - it is social and loud.

We ate dinner here the night before the Chicago Marathon. The food was absolutely delicious and just the right size for pre-marathon dining. The service is attentive and knowledgeable. The cocktail was interesting and tasty. Wonderful all the way around.

Ate here 10 yrs ago and was overwhelmed by the creativity and quality of the food. Was very much looking forward to returning. Atmosphere great. Service just fair. Server somewhat abrupt and didnt smile or interact on any level other than perfunctory. Ordered $110 bottle of wine...almost undrinkable ( my date didnt drink more than 1/4 glass)...was it "off" - maybe, but not knowing the wine it is difficult to make that assessment when it isnt palatably vinegar - but it was terrible ( and i think that for ANY wine at $110/bottle it should be at least enjoyable - which this wasn't). That it was initially served at room temperature (75 degrees) is a big mistake for a 4 star restaurant. Unfortunately it only improved marginally when finally chilled to proper serving temperature of ~ 65 degrees. The duck was ok but little overdone and dry. My jumbo shrimp amd scallions were excellent and plentiful. So mixed review - but not exceptional by any means - so a disappointment from my high hopes.

The food was quite good. Our server was courteous, but quite disinterested and indifferent. The noise level was very bad. Tables are crammed together to maximize the number of patrons. There was not a soft floor, ceiling, or wall covering in sight and the noise level was, well...I could barely hear the people at our table. Unless you crave Vietnamese food, I would not recommend going there. We certainly will not return.

One of my all time favorite restaurants! Have been going there for twenty years and the food is very consistently very good. The upstairs reminds me of a scene from a movie with Humphrey Bogart. The noise level is always low enough for conversations without shouting.

This was a great find. The quality of food was excellent. We started with the Pho, had a shrimp appetizer and a flat noodle dish with beef and chicken. All the food was extremely flavorful. The service was friendly and prompt. We had a great seat near the window downstairs. The upstairs has a completely different feel. If you are up for something different other than steak, Italian, or sushi, this is a great choice. We had a great dining experience.

This restaurant had been a favorite lunch stop for many years, although I had last eaten there about 15 year ago. I was anxious it would look dated and half empty, and was pleasantly surprised to see it was busy on a Friday night. Environment upbeat. I was a bit underwhelmed with my food, as the dish did not appear like the description. The vegetables were swimming in sauce, and not all of the vegetables listed could be found, which was a disappointment. The shrimp in the dish were of a good size and cooked perfectly.

Went here for our wedding anniversary and couldn't have been happier. Food was a very interesting mix of French Vietnamese but they combined the two styles perfectly. The main drawback was how close you sat to the table next to you but by being creative in the decor and lighting it didn't feel close once you sat down. Definitely would come back again!

Pretty good food but their service needs improvement. Our server has zero idea on their own wine list and was very slow. The owner came to help with the wine list, who was equally ignorant and to top it off very rude. Although I live in the neighborhood I probably won't come back anytime soon.
