Lark Creek Walnut Creek Ratings and Reviews

Unfortunately the service was pretty slow. Our waiter was very friendly and kind, but the time between getting our cocktails and taking our dinner order was probably close to 1/2 hour. This seemed quite long to us.
Our paella eater didn't love theirs, and my pot roast was just mediocre. I'm afraid there wasn't much to it.
We love the location, but this particular trip wasn't spectacular.

I have always enjoyed this restaurant and looked forward to revisiting after moving out of the area. They did not disappoint! I am dairy, wheat and sugar free and found several things to choose from on the menu. There was a bit of a wait to get first service (24 minutes) but they more than made up for it with attentive service throughout our meal. While there a so many choices in restaurants in Walnut Creek, I will certainly consider Lark Creek again when I come back to visit.

Our server was great!!! Funny engaging but not too intrusive! We had the apple Fuji salad w chicken for lunch. Get the larger portion of that is your main bc the small is a bread plate size. Chicken was moist but 9 bucks seems like a lot to add to the top. Tuna melt was good. But should be on a different bread...too much bread and adding a tomato would be great. Tuna had great flavor! Waffle chips were tasty!!!

The food was good, fresh, not overly seasoned and tasty. The only thing I would say that was a con was the customer service. When I go out to eat, I am looking for an experience I can't get at home. I made a reservation for a weekday, and the restaurant was not busy at all. But for some reason, we were seated at a 2 top in a high traffic area. There were at least 5 other 4 tops in our section that remained empty the entire time we were there. I don't understand why a restaurant that has a $100+ tab for two people wouldn't treat their clients better. Why squeeze us onto a tiny table when we are there to enjoy a night out? And it was a special occasion for us that became mediocre.
Treat your customers well. They will remember the service and how you made them feel. We, unfortunately, were made to feel like they don't want us to come back.

Where we have normally great food and service, the service was very poor.
We asked three times for bread, the cocktails were slow and warm and the staff was really undermanned and far from the typical great service.

I love Lark Creek. Lunch is awesome. I had the fabulous caesar salad with wonderful steelehead salmon. Steelehead is my favorite. I was dining with my niece and she loves their penne pasta. I enjoyed a glass of wine that the waiter recommended (blindfold) and it was great. And of course you can't leave without having the butterscotch pudding!

Four of us went there for lunch before heading to a play at the Lesher. Although we arrived quite early for our reservation, we were seated immediately. Our waiter was attentive without being intrusive. Our meals were tasty and the serving sizes were generous. It was the perfect spot for a leisurely lunch.

Met a friend for brunch on a Sunday. Restaurant staff greeted us warmly and offered choice of seating, outdoors was a bit breezy that day so moved inside. They have an open dining room as well as a cozy closed off sun space offering a bit quieter and intimate dining. Very nice ambiance, food was really delicious and portion size just right to enjoy without the temptation of over eating, because it was just too tasty not to finish my plate! Price was very reasonable and would not hesitate to recommend as the 'really nice place' to go for both casual and special occasions.

This use to be our favorite place to eat with friends and family. Our last experience last week may be our last for a long time. All food now very expensive and not that good anymore. Very disappointed. The server was very loud and in our face too much. Love the location in Walnut Creek. We are running out of restaurants that serve good food at reasonable prices!

l selected the special, cajun seafood stew. It was heavy on andouille sausage, and light on the seafood. A disappointment, because the mussels are always perfect. But that is OK. I will be back. Just an aberration on one day@ noon.

I had an excellent lunch a few weeks ago but was sadly disappointed with Sunday Brunch. Paella was lacking in flavor; the strawberries on the French Toast were over macerated and unappealing. The freshness I'd experienced at lunch was not noted at Brunch. The BLT I'd had at lunch was exceptional, and though it isn't on the Brunch menu I was looking for something as fresh and vibrant. Maybe I hit an off morning, will try again for lunch or dinner because the ambiance and service are very good.

A nice dinner after a performance at the lesser center. We've eaten here many times, still it was nice to know that a reliably good early dinner would be awaiting us after driving out to Walnut Creek for a matinee. Cocktails are weak and sweet -- stick to wine or beer. Entrees and first courses are the strong suit here, and portions are generous. Desserts are somewhat lacking, such as there only being a slight sliver of chocolate sauce, and practically no other toppings on what was billed as a hot fudge sundae.

Lark Creek never disappoints. Great food and great service. Just a bit pricey for a standard lunch without any cocktails or dessert. That being said, reserve this place for only your best occasions and/or clients.

I have always loved Lark Creek, not certain what has happened there. Food below par, service with "attitude" was not up to their usual high standard. Disappointing given it was a celebration.
Hopefully, someone listens.

We made a reservation through Open Table, indicating we were celebrating our anniversary and asked for a quiet table as my 93 year old mom was coming with us and she wears a hearing aid. No mention of our anniversary at all the whole night, and where were seated was initially quiet, then they turned up the music and the place got super-noisy. WTF? Why do you need piped in music in a fairly expensive restaurant? Things started promisingly. Warm fresh bread and butter. But my wife ordered an Aperol spritzer, and I ordered the "Savannah Rose" a signature cocktails. Both arrived in generic wine glass with ice. Lame presentation. Mine was fair, but way too sweet. Could have used a little more gin, or less syrup, or a shot of fizzy water. Apps:Corn soup-delicious, but thought it would be cold, not hot. Gazpacho. Don't bother. Blah presentation. Bay shrimp-meh. No texture, no creaminess, no seasoning. I could get some cherry tomatoes at Safeway, throw them in my Vitamix Entrees: all had NY steak. Cooked perfectly. UJnder-seasoned. Also, my gratin potatoes werecold and underdone. Took awhile for anyone to check on us. Sent potatoes back. By the time it came back (and still barely lukewarm on the bottom) I was 3/4 of the way through my steak. :-( Ordered coffee and dessert. Coffee arrived, desserts didn't show up for over 20 min. Waiter finally came by and saw we didn't have desserts. With tip, 2 glasses of wine, Aperol spritzer & cocktail, $300 for 3 people. If I'm spending that $, I expect better service, better presentation, better timing. At least put your signature cocktail in a tall rocks glass, or a martini glass. We won't be back. Our server was nice enough, but not on the ball. If I want to spend that, I'll stay in San Francisco. Or I'll go to Flemings in Walnut Creek, where you pay a lot but you get a lot for the money, and they know how to wait on you, make you feel special, and cook a great steak.
We won't be back to Lark Creek in Walnut Creek.

We are used to excellent service at lark creek, this time it was not even average. Our server did mention he's new, and we understand that. I think the management did a poor job with training this time or maybe they were short staffed.
We will definitely go back and try again.

We look forward to dining at Lark Creek every few months. Maybe the kitchen crew has changed. Food, chicken and pork chop are usually good. This time the chicken was dry while the chop was cold. Disappointing. It is usually a good experience this one was not.

Lark creek is a hot spot for brunch on Sunday's. We had an opentable reservation and got seated right away. However it took an hour from the time we sat down to getting our food served. Luckily we were not in a hurry. Highly recommend.

Great food. Menu came with welcome and "Happy Anniversary" printed on top for out 27th wedding anniversary I put in the opentable notes. Service was professional but a bit slow, however we were in no rush. Sat us on time of our reservation and made the night exactly what we wanted. Easy going, good food, window table to see downtown activity. The butterscotch pudding is AMAZING! Always a good experience. I positively recommend.
