Landry's Seafood House - San Antonio Ratings and Reviews

I am usually pretty cost conscious and the prices caught my attention at first (but was definitely comparable to the other restaurants). That being said, the food was absolutely flavorful and exceptional. Presentation and proportions were excellent. Our waiter was very professional, personable, knowledgeable, made great recommendations and funny. Could not have asked for more from him. The price quickly became a non-issue and the total experience was worth every penny. The flavor of every item was exquisite and would be the main reason I would return, even though the entire experience was great. 10/10

Server Dante was personable and prompt. Hand crafted some blue cheese olives for my martini. The only problem we experienced was a long delay waiting for wine by the glass due to non-availability of wine glasses from the kitchen/dishwasher. Detracted from an otherwise excellent dining experience.

My wife and I were in San Antonio to celebrate our 31st anniversary and decided to enjoy some fresh seafood at Landry's. We arrived on time for our reservation and were seated immediately. Then it began. It was a full 20 minutes before we saw a waiter and were offered a beverage. 15. Minutes more until we received our drinks. Still no water. We ordered calamari and it took another 20 minutes. At this time we placed our entree order and asked for some bread. "Right away" said our waiter. We began on the calamari and it was soggy! The bread finally showed up after another 15 minutes and it was cold with the butter unmelted. We then decided we had had enough and asked to speak with a manager. She was very apologetic and said she would comp our appetizer, but that we would have to pay for our drinks. Then she had the nerve to invite us back and give them another chance! Never gonna happen. She could have made it right by offering a gift card as there are many restaurants in the Landry chain, but she chose to ignore the gross neglect of her staff and show no real concern for her customers.

We were in Texas for the Dallas vs Cincinnati Bengals football game. Flew into San Atonio for 2 days before driving to Dallas. This dinner was our worst experience. We had a reservation for the 6 of us. After being seated it took well over 2 hours for our dinner. Service was erratic. Everyone in our party received drinks. I ordered a sprite and had to ask for it several times. When Richard brought my sprite, he brought 2. He then spilled half onto my bread plate. It was an accident. Food didn't arrive together. Received about half then 15 minutes later received the rest of our food. The first orders we received were all cold/luke warm. My almond crusted mahi mahi was soggy but the Flavor was good. Strange because the plate was warm but food cold. Didnt' send back because we were tired of being at the restaurant. My husband ordered the shrimp enbrochette and it was hot and delicious. If we hadn't have been seated along the Riverwalk, the entire experience would have been bad. Loved the riverwalk!

Dinner was very good; service was generally good. Stuffed snapper entre was flavorful and portion was quite large. Appetizer of bacon wrapped shrimp was good combination. We ordered the chopped salad to split in place of the regular salad and it was too much to eat but salad was fresh with lots of chicken, pecans and delicious blackberries.

Our server was great, but the food was rather disgusting, I'm afraid. The iceberg lettuce drenched in dressing to start was an omen of things to come. The rice was bland, some of it still hard, green beans covered in balsamic and the spiced ahi tuna was not really up to par for the price.

The service we had from our waitress Kelly was so horrible that I would never ever come back to this place again because of her. She was by far the worst server I have ever encountered! Our late guests placed an order for drinks 20 minutes after being at the restaurant because she never came over to ask when they arrived and had to be asked about the drinks 30 minutes later when they had not received them and she said "oh I forgot to put the order in." Salads took 30 minutes to come out, 2 of our girls in the group got shrimp scampi and their food was cold. I myself got a salmon that I sent away because it was over cooked and tasted horrible. We waited 45 minutes to get our checks, and another 30 minutes until she came back for our cards and some of the checks were not even correct such as I was being charged for a meal that I sent back and did not eat. I applaud the managers and another waitress for their attentiveness in checking on us when realizing how bad the situation was and taking our meals off of our checks. I would never want for anyone to lose their jobs, because that is not the person that I am but there is absolutely no reason that I believe Kelly should be a waitress she is by far the worst. I would like to add that we were in from out of town for my bachelorette party and my dinner was ruined by this experience. I hope that the manager of this establishment does not take this review on Kelly lightly.

The food was pretty good, our view was wonderful, our server...not the sharpest tack in that shed. I dine at Landry's in Las Vegas often. My great disappointment is that when I made the reservation I indicated that it was a birthday celebration. When we were seated the hostess acknowledged that fact. During dinner we heard at least three other patrons get a birthday song and treat, and although the waiter knew it was my guest's birthday he did nothing to make her feel even a bit special. No dessert, no song from the musicians...and worst of all, he brought the check out without the traditional cover so my guest could see the amount and then he told her and the people at the table next to us that he gave $25 off due to my membership.
Maybe I'm old school, but when I am taking someone out to dine, and, if I am someone's guest I never discuss price with anyone else at the table. I was embarrassed about the money issue, and saddened that we had to go to another restaurant for that special birthday dessert.

We were unimpressed with our server. We asked for recommendations and she seemed unfamiliar with the menu. She was finally able to make a recommendation and recommended the most expensive fish on the menu. The value therefore went down. She never smiled or was friendly throughout our dining experience in any way. The fish itself was good. The steak was ordered medium, but came medium well. The salad was unimpressive and small.

Landry's Seafood in San Antonio has excellent service. We were greeted promptly and with many smiles from every staff member we came in contact with. We had the option of seating at river-side or inside dining. We chose inside because of the hot temperatures that day. We were seated with a view of the river so that was a plus. Our server, Ryan, has the gift of hospitality. He treated us well and checked our table frequently. He was knowledgeable on all the restaurant had to offer. Our food came quickly and was tasty! I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Landry's is my favorite place for fried shrimp in San Antonio. The waitstaff is not very well educated on the wine list, or the food for that matter, but our waiter Chris did a nice job overall. our food was delivered in a timely fashion as was our bill. The wine list is nice and reasonably priced. My date suggested the onion rings on the shrimp platter be on top instead of on the bottom of the whole heap of food. Or else maybe you could put some bread at the bottom of it all.

We've been to a handful of Landry's within Texas. However, this the first time we've ever had send food back to the kitchen for being undercooked. They did reconcile the situation but it did fall outside of expectation. It really is a great location and the staff really nice. We were seated immediately and the overall experience nice, despite the love music upstairs, which can be bit loud at times.

The food was good but the entertainment was awesome. We choose to enjoy Landry's on the Riverwalk for the good food but the Joe Posada band was great. We really enjoyed the variety of music he played, jazz, oldiest, tejano, popular current music...he had it all. I immediately posted this on Facebook because I know a lot of my friends from Houston would be in San Antonio for the weekend.

It was a dissapointment from start to finish. It was San Antonio restaurant week - the waiter was not even aware. Another waitress dismissively handed us the special menu. We chose to order off the regular menu. We ordered oysters on the half shell - ok. Soft shell crab on bed of salad - sent back, the lettuce dry and wilted, crab missing many legs. Side salad - it was a salad. Snapper Hemingway - fish very good, risotto was just very dry regular rice with bits of vegetables, not risotto, tasted reheated. Asparagus lacked sauce and seasoning. Grilled snapper very dry, risotto as previously mentioned. They served sesame soy beans with it, did not go with rest of dinner, they had shriveled look of previously frozen vegetables. We did talk to the manager. We declined redo on crab and free dessert. We lost our appetite. We were very disappoyinted as I had dinner here previously. I guess it's hit or miss. Drinks were good. Can't recommend. Ended up having great dessert on river walk.

The service was amazing as well as the food. We took our two Airmen there after graduation and they really enjoyed it. Everton read very observant in taking care of our large party of 13. I couldn't have asked for better service.
We will definitely visit again on our next visit to San Antonio.

The seafood is always fresh, I like to keep my entree without the added sauces /toppings -keeping the fish grilled with lemon, pepper is just what I want. The entrees come with a decent house salad, a couple of sides. The vegetable is freshly steamed with minimal butter/oils. The view of the Riverwalk is always pleasant as the scenery always changes with people/barges going by! The service seemed slow to initiate from the time our beverage order was taken (non alcoholic) until the main course was served. We dine on the riverwalk prior to going to the Majestic Theater. The location of Landry's is perfect to dine, walk the short distance to the theater.

We always request to dine in the bar when we are at Landry's on the River Walk. Not only is it more casual and relaxed that downstairs, but it has Brandon who is the best waiter EVER! He knows what we like and is always willing to make suggestions for new items. The food is excellent and we always have a great time!

I'm originally from S. Louisiana and have been to many Landry's many times.
Worst service I've had at one of their restaurants. After we arrived the waiter never did...I finally went to the hostess after waiting more than 10 minutes. They finally found our waiter after a few more minutes.
Also, the bathroom was disgusting. Because you have a black toilet with dark granite floors and walls does NOT mean that you don't have to clean the men's room.

The food was great, the atmosphere was perfect and the service was outstanding. When I take my wife to dinner I expect her to be pampered. Our server, Tiffany, was very attentive and she made our meal an enjoyable experience. Great service makes a great meal even better! I highly recommend Landry's and look forward to eating there the next time we visit San Antonio. Thanks again Landry's!

The restaurant was so awesome. I made a reservation for my parents to celebrate my Dad's birthday and they went above and beyond to make his birthday special. They acknowledged his birthday as soon as he walked in without my parents even telling them (just from me putting the information in the comments of the reservation), they had a personalized menu prepared for him to order from and take home and topped it off with awesome dessert. My parents haven't stopped talking about how great this spot is. I was truly impressed myself considering I didn't know how the restaurant would really be.

Everything was great until nearly the end of the meal. I ordered the Shrimp Brouchette and the last 3 were extremely over-cooked and dry, which was very disappointing because this particular dish is one of my favorites and $24.50 on the menu. And then, the manager came over and was a little wishy-washy and instead of telling me what he would do to make it right, asked me what I would 'like for him to do'. He offered free dessert then and since we didn't want dessert, he took a small percentage off the bill. He and all the staff was extremely friendly, I just felt that he should have handled it a little differently. Overall though, not a bad experience... However, if you are going there on a Friday night and want a quiet meal, ask for an outside table or one away from the bar as the band is very loud.
