LOVE La Scala. Has been one of my favorite restaurants since I found it several year ago. I took my boyfriend out to celebrate our anniversary. We were there around 10:30pm which is rather later. I understood the encouragement to get our orders in quickly before the kitchen closed. Crab/shrimp Alfredo was AMAZING a always. this time the calamari was extremely, extremely salty and we wasted at least 30-40% of it.
Classy place. Best in bmore
As always, La Scala was delicious! Food was perfect, service was wonderful.
The best whole fish (filet done perfectly tableside) was the best fish I have ever eaten.
Really enjoyed our dinner at La Scala! The food was delicious, the wait staff knowledgeable and very attentive. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great place in Baltimore's Little Italy.
Everything was perfect. Couldn't have asked for a better experience
Food was amazing, service was superb.
A little on the loud side because of a large party going on.
We will come back.
First floor had a distinct musty smell. Wait staff was attentive. Food was overpriced relative to other similar restaurants. Very much appreciated free shuttle service to hotel.
We took our mom here for her 60th bday. She loved it!!
We opted to reserve at La Scala after reading many reviews and because it was close to our hotel. We were celebrating a special event so I asked for a quiet table. Given the vocal energy among the diners I didn't think that was possible, but in fact we were given a lovely table for two in a small room with only 3 tables! This was good, because it erased my earlier annoyance that the shuttle that was listed in the description turned out not to be available, forcing us to walk from our hotel in a terrible windstorm. I was told bluntly that I should have called earlier in the day, but that was not stated in the promo. Fortunately, we were able to get a lift back to the hotel with the shuttle.
The food was very good, but somewhat expensive. My husband's Moscow Mule was very small and cost $11.00! My wine was very reasonable at the same price. I had the special, Osso Buco and it was very well done, but cost $39. (I've had equally tasty osso buco for $27 in other restaurants. The homemade fettuccine however was exceptional. My husband had shrimp with crab over fettuccine and he enjoyed it immensely. Though we didn't order it, we were given an order of tiramisu to share for our celebration. Our waiter, Antonio, was a bit brusque, but his charming Italian accent and the speed with which he delivered our order was appreciated. He also taught me how to eat the marrow from the bone of my veal.
I would recommend it to someone visiting the city of Baltimore. I'm not sure I'd go there regularly if I were local.
Tomato salad should not be on the menu if they're serving un-ripe beefsteak tomatoes doused in dry spices. Chicken was blah. My kids loved their gnocchi.
I came with a friend; we were in town for a conference. We had reservations and were seated quickly upon our arrival. The food was excellent and the service was very good. We were served standard Italian bread, but their EVOO is wonderful, very fruity. Next, came the complimentary green beans with garlic, which were standard l. I started with the artichokes with lump crab (Cuori di Carciofi). It was excellent, some of the best artichokes I’ve had, and the sauce was exceptional. For my main course, I had the lobster special, two 4 oz. lobster tails over pasta in a tomato cream sauce. Again, one of the best sauces I’ve had on a pasta dish. I had the prosecco to accompany my meal, which was perfect. To finish, I ordered the Tiramisu, which was also delicious and even better the next day. All in all, everything was really good and I will definitely go back when I am in Baltimore. They do have free shuttle service, and while it was a bit of a wait to return to our hotel, it was a really nice service.
We chose La Scala from our guidebook. It was as good as written. I had the penne all a vodka which was better than other restaurants because it was in cream sauce. The service was attentive.
It's tight inside but tables aren't smashed up against each other. You still feel seperated. It's a real locals type of place which I like. Everything was great until my husband couldn't cut his veal. The cook asked us how everything was & I told him. He took it back to the kitchen. As I was telling the manager we've never had veal we couldn't cut, the cook walks by and says under his breath "It's not tough" clearly so we could hear. I could tell the manager was embarrased. We loved everything about this restaurant including our great server, my fantastic seafood pastan etc. but because that cook was so rude it made the experience unpleasant.
Always outstanding! Best of Little Italy. .
The service here is exceptional in every way
A find! Good food, great atmosphere, wonderful service. Make sure you save time for a bocce game downstairs before you leave. So much fun!!
Absolutely loved the experience. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. The espresso Martini was especially delicious.
We had an excellent meal at La Scala. The service was terrific and the food included both the Italian staples and some creative additions too. I liked the fact that you could actually have a conversation too without the din of noise that seems so common in many restaurants. Nice wine selections. We will definitely go back - as we've been looking for a solid Italian restaurant for awhile now and this one hands down was the best we've experienced in some time.
Always a great choice for Italian food, LaScala never disappoints!! The food was excellent, the wait staff very attentive. I especially liked that we were not rushed, there was time between courses.
Outstanding atmosphere, food, and staff.
Excellent food, service, ambiance. The penne with garlic, goat cheese, and tomato was spectacular, as was the chicken cacciatore and all else we had. Our new all time favorite in Baltimore!
The authentic Italian cuisine was so delicious. Everyone was pleasant from start to finish. My guest and I were running late, I called I was told no problem. I really appreciated the accommodation.
Delicious shrimp and Lump crab alfredo, calamari and mushrooms with mozzarella.
Fried Zucchini App was great. Filet and Shrimp cooked to perfection. As always, the best marinara sauce ever.
I enjoy going to La Scala. This was my second time going, and I loved it this time around too. My significant other and I who were late to the dinner, found that the staff was very accommodating to this. However, when we arrived at the restaurant the front staff didn't seem as friendly as we thought, or as the previous time when I was there. La Scala does a nice job with large groups, since when I came to celebrate a birthday last year, the service was impeccable and the food was divine. The ambiance at La Scala is beautiful and authentic. The indoor bocce ball court is a must for every visitor! This time around, the service was good and the food was delicious.
Always my first choice when in Little Italy. The food is exceptional, the wait staff is knowledgeable and always willing to help or make adjustments to menu offerings. The specials are always the highlight of the visit but simple pasta there is as special as any other offering.
Enjoyed the calamari and split two lovely pasta dishes. The roasted Caesar salad was recommended, but neither of us cared for it.
Can't say enough about the wonderful evening we had. Reserving the shuttle removed the hassle of parking and traffic; the wait staff were perfectly friendly and attentive; the interior is beautiful; and the food was delicious. My fiance and I went for a romantic dinner and found La Scala to be perfect for just that. It was Valentine's weekend and saw a number of other couples - but clearly it is a popular choice for large groups and friends as well. There is even a bocce ball court on the ground floor! But our romantic night was removed from that, so although the noise was a bit more than expected it was just the right level for my partner and I to enjoy conversation without either whispering or yelling.
I am not an expert on Italian food, but both our meals and our appetizer were great. The stand out though was the cream puff dessert. It comes in a sort of mousse/airy pudding that is some of the best chocolate I've ever tasted. I highly recommend if you like chocolatey or creamy desserts.
Recommending La Scala to friends, without hesitation.
Wonderful meal!! From the appetizers, to the main course through dessert. Everything was just wonderful.
We visit La Scala several times a year and always have an exceptional experience. Delish food and wonderful service. Thank you!
Everything was phenomenal
Alfredo, our terrific waiter, took great care of us
Requests were handled efficiently and the whole experience was seamless, professional, yet with that little extra warmth that makes a really outstanding meal.
Amazing food, out of this world. A great atmosphere and attentive and helpful servers. My water was never more than half empty! A bit expensive for the Everyman but very much worth it for a special occasion
La scala did not disappoint! We had fours courses and each one was built on the one before. The Filet with peppercorns in a brown sauce literally melted as you ate it. The fresh pressed olive oil and bread to start the meal cleansed the pallet nicely.
Great food and service...great experience!
We thoroughly enjoyed our first time at LaScale. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and accommodating to my dining restrictions. The food was delicious and the atmosphere and staff were lovely.
Took my wife here for Valentine's Day. Great food and service. Would definitely eat her again. You must try the signature char-grilled caesar salad and cannolis.
We had a wonderful dinner. Veal with crab and shrimp in a cream sauce. Melted mozzarella on top. Perfectly cooked filet. Garlicky green beans. Warm bread. Pricey but worth it!
