Ketchum Grill Ratings and Reviews
Cozy, local-scene vibe with outstanding menu selection. We were there during ski season in early February on a busy Friday evening - snowing outside and a warm fire inside - do make reservations. One of only two places I found with duck breast - excellent and just what I was in the mood for. Apple tart was also the perfect dessert. Wines by the glass were a bit limited for my taste but told they change frequently. Hope we can come back soon.
Overall very enjoyable. Service staff was very attentive and nice. Food was not rushed, timing allowed for an enjoyable evening. There was plenty of time to enjoy wine between seating and food delivery. Noise was a little loud to be expected in a small accoustically poor environment. My only complaint was the lamb. Supposedly a signature dish. It was prepared stew style. Very tender, but no lamb flavor. The only flavor was of the stew broth. I love lamb, why would a very nice piece of lamb be placed in a stew to have its flavor boiled away? I'm not an expert so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Next time I'll ask how it's prepared before I order it. Lamb not with standing I would recommend Ketchum Grill.
Oysters in a spicy remoulade, lamb meatballs, homemade lemon pasta and always some great grilled fish of the day and Day Steak (which varies in preparation and cut). Did I mention they make a perfect, hand-formed and smashed beef burger on a bun grilled medium rare if you like, because it is very high quality Neiman Ranch or Snake River Farms ground chuck? Very hard to do right but they do, right down to the house made buns and homemade ketchup, although I prefer Heinz and they will bring it. The owners love wine, so the wines by the glass are exquisite, and the rare ones are not egregiously marked up, so it is a great chance to be a hero and order a treasure. This place deserves and earned my stars for its friendly, convivial hospitality and comfy cuisine.
Dinner and service was very good. Friend had special salad with smoked trout and said the fish was mushy. I had the half chicken and it was great. Also tried the bison special slow food which was also great. A large, noisy group came in which made it difficult for us to converse mid meal. Overall, very good experience!
Have been to Ketchum Grill several times on our visits to Sun Valley. This time was particularly good, food-wise. I had salmon, which was delicious, served with mashed potatoes and veggies. The ambiance there is quite charming, although kind of close, i.e. if you are a large person, the surroundings would be a bit challenging to navigate. However, since there are no large people in Sun Valley, this won't be a problem. Service was adequate, but not particularly friendly....she did her job, but not much more. Will go there again.
Great as always! Had a grass fed burger, glass of wine and enjoyed the feeling of being with happy friends in a cozy, Ketchum cabin, which of course it is, but this one has great service and inventive cuisine. Great specials every night, big menu, bigger wine lists, two of them! Go!
Absolutely love the quaintness of this restaurant. But don't be fooled they are on top of their food service. Comfort dishes created to perfection, the staff is friendly and casual and very welcoming. Enjoyed every aspect of our meal from start to finish. Counting the days until I can go back.
We split out time between Boise and Sun Valley and the Ketchum Grill always meets a consistent high standard in all areas. I can't think of a place in either that more consistently delivers a great experience. The portions are not huge but never skimpy either. Perfect for us and the value is unbelievable! The service is always outstanding! We are never disappointed at the grill and like the specials and seasonally changing menu.
Small no frills tables and chairs Ambiente is eclectic bistro style
Friendly service and good decent food.
We had salads, pizza, somewhat over cooked Dover sole which was tasteless, and a brilliant fisherman's wharf style cioppino which made our dinner enjoyable.
Ketchum Grill is by far one of my most favorite restaurants in the valley. Scott and Ann Mason, the owners, use fresh, local and regional ingredients for a variety of different dining options. Also carries an extensive and affordable wine list. All in all, a great value for your dining experience.
Googled places to eat, Ketchum Grill was came up with over 700 reviews and had an average star rating of 4.5 out of 5 all other restaurants only had about 40-60 reviews with similar reviews. Must of been having a off night all around. Wait service was poor at 6 pm with the place only 1/4 occupied. Had to ask for bread when others tables were give it upon sitting down. My girlfriend order the penne with chicken thighs, chicken was rubbery like they were using frozen pieces not fresh, the sauce had no flavor and tastes like plastic. I ordered a the KT pizza, I have had better frozen pizza, crust was raw in middle, sauce was very little and the proscuttio was thick like a canadian bacon, not paper thin as you would expect. On a good note the wine wasn't bad. Price to meal expectations very low. Chef needs to revisit culinary basics. Would not recommend this place. First impression are everything and with the other top quality restaurants in area, choose wisely. This was the last place I hadn't been to in Ketchum. You wont be disappointed at The Pioneer, Enoteca, Warfields or Sawtooth.
Had a great time I had the salmon special with apricot sauce which was fantastic my boyfriend had the steak special with the charcoal glaze which we both really enjoyed. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who is looking for a special time out.
My husband and I went to Ketchum grill for our first time and were very pleased with the food and service. I had the meatloaf and it was absolutely delicious! My husband had the steak but thought it was just ok- not enough flavor. The service was great but the seating is pretty tight. Luckily there was music playing so I didn't feel like the tables next to us were listening to our conversation. I would definitely go back for a second time.
