Food was great as well as service. The only downfall is that we made a reservation a week in advance for 9pm, when we arrived at 8:55 we were told that our table would not be ready until 9:20-9:30pm. Kind of defeats the purpose of a reservation if you ask me.

The waiters were wonderfully attentive and friendly and the food was outstanding, especially the squid ink pasta! The hostesses were not very welcoming when we first arrived, but the rest of the experience was superlative. The vodel log was incredible!

Juniper & Ivy is by far my favorite restaurant in San Diego. They consistently serve the most beautiful, creative, and delicious food. The service is always fantastic (thanks, Ryan!) I recommend sitting at the chef's counter if you are having dinner for two so you can watch all of the magic in the kitchen. The drinks are also creative and delicious.

We were thoroughly impressed. Loved sitting at the chefs bar. So professional and entertaining. Food presentation was outstanding and flavors delicious. The noise level gets louder as the night goes on. Our server (ryan) was very helpful and attentive. Will be our go to place for special occasions

Our waiter Ryan was friendly and helpful. He let us have our moment and timing on his part was on point. The food was very good. We sat where the chef prepared the dish so we got to see all the dishes come out. It was a very good experience .

We've wanted to come here since it opened, but don't get to San Diego very often and it was so worth it. Everything was wonderful. The biscuit was tender, the chocolate mousse dessert was light and yummy. Everything in between was wonderful, fresh and prepared perfectly. They were very conscious of my nut allergy. Our server RYAN was helpful and soliticious without being overbearing. Will definitely make a point of eating here again.

Ambiance was excellent. Service was good. The food was below average at best. We ordered two small plates, entree, 2 glasses of wine and two beers. The bill was $170 with tip. We sent back two of the small plates: food came out burnt and was not as described. Do not come to this restaurant hungry for the portions are very small. I would not eat at this restaurant again.

I'll join the many who love this place. Some of the best food I've had in a long time. Very eclectic menu and had to be careful to not overload of different tastes. The worst part was trying to decide. We got there early, 6 p.m., to try and avoid the noise but even by 8 p.m. when we left it wasn't over the top like some places. The high wood ceiling helps and it's nice the tables aren't on top of each other. That said, it was quite energetic when we left.

The waiter was cool. His recommendations were interesting because he said everything is good and it depends on your mood. He was so right. The food I ordered was delicious. My wife's pick was delish too. He was right. Thanks! We'll definitely make a return visit in the near future.

Austere-chic, very "L.A". Caters mostly to youngish-business-after-work crowd. Innovative menu , with many tasty-sounding dishes. The service is attentive without being intrusive. The downside, and it is a huge one: very small portions with an expensive price tag. NOT good value for the dollar AND not very good food.

I cannot recommend Juniper & Ivy highly enough. Our food was incredible. The service was great. The ambiance is cool. And we got to meet Richard Blaise, who was just delightful and made what was already a great experience even better.

My husband and I were from out-of-town. We both really enjoyed our meals. I loved the pineapple cocktail and the beet salad. My husband loved everything, especially the scallop sausage and the pasta boulenase. Nice ambiance and very attentive wait staff.

We got a 5pm seating. Pretty quiet. Nice atmosphere. While the food was very good, the menu is all over the place. Courses hard to get any kind of flow. Drinks are expensive, while good, but expensive. I would imagine your getting a 1 oz pour in the mixed drinks. Creative but 10-13 for a drink that costs $.50-.75 to make, ontop of expensive food prices. This is typical San Diego pricing and while the food is better than most places, there's not a rhyme to it. I ordered 4 courses, my wife 3. We had 5 drinks total..Service was good.

Our experience at Juniper and Ivy was phenomenal! The food was outrageously delicious, the service was unparalleled, and the attention to detail was top notch!! We could not have a better experience for dinner to celebrate our two year anniversary. Juniper and Ivy went above and beyond, and we will never forget it. Thank you so much for an experience of a lifetime!

I celebrated my birthday at Juniper & Ivy with family and friends; they were accommodating from the start upon needing to increase headcount on our reservation. Upon arriving, they sat us promptly despite the restaurant and bar overflowing with people - the staff was kind and food delicious. Note that although this restaurant is located in Little Italy, it is not an Italian restaurant - however, it does have pasta options.

Big fan of Top Chef, and I have always wanted to try one of Richard Blais' spots. This place did not disappoint. We tried about 7 different things. I did not particularly care for the scallop sausage or the sweet potato pancake, but my wife loved both. The buttermilk biscuit is unreal. I loved the prawn and pork bolognese and the banh mi toast. I wish we could have tried more off the menu, but there were only two of us. I would definitely return. It is actually a decent value, 50% of bill was booze. If you don't drink you can escape for 100 bucks or less for 2 people and go all out.

Hosts refused to seat us at 6pm midweek when 2 of 6 in the party were stuck in traffic. The restaurant was empty at the time and still had empty tables when we left. Kept insisting that it was for our comfort. What? Finally had to get the manager to seat us. Food was good but overall was just too noisy and uncomfortable to have a conversation.
An original farm to table menu. all dish ...
An original farm to table menu. all dishes were executed precisely and the flavor of the ingredients were front and center. Notable dishes were the potato pancake with a chanterelle mushroom blend topping and a savory maple jus, roasted beets with cacao and a butterfish main dish.
Inventive and addictive was the desert, a chocolate yoddle. original presentation with the pouring of hot chocolate melting a chocolate "pipe" filled with distinct chocolate flavor ingredients. All the elegant sweet flavors all came together nicely.
Wine selection - studied and fairly priced. Engagement with the wine staff was lacking to help make selections. An easy fix if the few sommelier trained staff on hand got out and talked with customers

Overall a decent restaurant. Energy in the restaurant is good, and service is excellent. Wine selection is creative but a little limited. Food was ok, but expectations were probably too high given it is suppose to be a creative top chef.

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. All four of us had to search the menu to find anything that looked good to us - we could only describe it as somewhat weird. The portions are so small that only the two ladies in our group felt they had enough to eat. And - the wine by the glass is outrageously priced! The noise level made it difficult to have a conversation, also.

A must try if you are a foodie! We ordered one item from each menu category to try a variety and everything was outstanding, creative, and delicious. They were simple dishes with unique ingredients incorporated but without getting too crazy so that you could still taste all the flavors. Cocktails were also classic, but with a unique and refreshing twist. We sat at the chef's counter and it was fun to see the kitchen bustling and the food come out. It was a great spot with great service and amazing food. Will definitely recommend and go back.
