I've been here a dozen times, every visit is just as good or better than the last. It is exactly what it says – quality seafood and great steak. No fusion, no foam, just good solid white table dining. The moment I finish my grilled seafood I am already planning a way to get back to get another.

My husband and I wanted someplace special to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. This restaurant fit the bill. The food was excellent and the service was great. The meal started out with a glass of champagne from the restaurant. We each tried the stone crab claw that they are famous for. Delicious.

My third visit was as great as the first. Perfect business meal--great atmosphere, superb food (perfect seafood salad), right amount of attention, and quiet enough for five to hear one another without shouting. Will return often.

Joe's obviously puts a premium on service--intending on giving a first class experience. Mission accomplished. Michael gets a shout out. Wine was very good. Entrees very good. Dessert excellent if dangerous. The only critical thing I would have is that the sides were flat overall. Extremely busy for a Thursday night.

Terrible food and experience. I ordered the lobster tail 22oz and it was undercooked. Moreover, the waiter kept pushing the 22oz but failed to mention it was $75.00!!!! It's not even a whole lobster. Overall, the good and service was unacceptable.

Our second visit and every bit as good as last time. The waiter was very knowledgeable and helped us decide. The Madagascar shrimp were amazing and so were the spinach stuffed mushrooms to start. We all had filet mignon for mains which were excellent as well as our side vegetables. Desserts were offered in both full or half portions. We could barely manage the half portions we were so stuffed! Cannot fault a thing and can't wait to come back on our next visit to DC.

Being from Miami, visiting from STL. we wanted Stone Crab. At check-in we were told Claws were not fresh & due in the next day. Since we came 4 Claws I ordered 1 medium as ap for $8.50. Dumb idea. I needed 2 get bar naps 2 squeeze water out...it was tasteless. Joe's should be ashamed to serve these at a premium $$$. They credited my claw. Our fish dinner was very good. After 30 years of eating at Joe's I will not go back in DC or Miami, all because of the way they serve known past buy date. I was ready to spend $80 + 4 Claws. Shame on JOE!

PHENOMENAL! Our server, Anthony, made our night. It was our 27th wedding anniversary and he surprised us with complimentary glasses of champagne and dessert. Food was excellently prepared and presented. The steak was melt in your mouth! And, a big shout out to the food runner. We didn't get his name but he made the night perfect as well.

Our waiter was awesome! The food was very good except my daughter's very expensive lobster 20 ounce lobster tail wasn't fully cooked.
The food was way over priced. One daughter didn't eat. I got an appetizer of 5 stone crabs. My husband got 3 stone crabs, salad and the 20 ounce tail also. No drinks. The check was $348 for basically 2 people eating.

I've been here several times and have not been disappointed. The food is consistently of good quality, although staid. No adventurous creations, but sometimes you want plain and simple. I've never understood the attraction of stone crab claws vis-a-vis lobster or dungeness crab, but if you like them this is the place. There restaurant is luxuriously appointed and there is a high server to diner ratio. Our server was eager, albeit new, he was willing if not always able to please. The restaurant when we went was blessedly quiet, so for a working lunch or dinner this would definitely be a candidate spot, although a touch on the pricey side.

First time my wife and I visited Joe's for dinner. The menu offered many delicious options. We enjoyed our appetizers (crab bisque and Alaskan crab legs) as well as our entrees (petite filet and Florida stone crab claws). Paired with a nice bottle of wine, it was a great date!

A small group of friends joined for a Saturday night meal. As out of town visitors the restaurant's proximity to the White House was part of its appeal, as we took a photo opportunity en route to the restaurant. The restaurant was quite lively, with a varied clientele. We elected to eat in the bar, and watch the game on TV. We had cocktails to start--Sazerac, Old Fashioned and French 75--all solid. The oysters were fresh and tasty. My friends were a bit disappointed in the stone crab claws; the restaurant had run out of medium sized claws so we ended up with the smaller claws which are a bit more work. My sole was overcooked, but the presentation and sauce were good. The miso coated Chilean sea bass was nice, and our other friend's tenderloin and lobster tail were also well done. Not sure it was worth $600 for 3 of us, but not disappointed either.

The Maitre D' was lovely and our server knowledgeable, friendly, polite, and efficient. Brunch here was delightful--and just a short walk from the White House! Will definitely return--excellent value for a very upscale experience!

This is an outstanding restaurant. The wait staff is attentive without being overbearing. The food is excellent and the ambiance is great for a special occasion or a simple dinner. It is a little pricey, but if you know and accept that going in, you will have an enjoyable time. I will be back.

My first time at Joe's. I would love to go back! Our server was fantastic! We had 3 children with us, ages 13, 11, and 8, the server paid special attention to them and treated them like royalty. Our food was delicious, no one in our party of 5 had a complaint. It is quite expensive, in my opinion, the only negative I could find.

First of all the staff was superb. We were 20 min late do to near standstill DC traffic but were seated a a great table. The service could not have been better. The Wellfleet oysters as starters were perfect. I have dined at the restaurant before and at the Lettuce Entertainment Joes in Chicago 10-12 times
And at the original Joes in SouthBeach almost yearly since the early 1970's. I order almost the same items every time. With that history my expectations may be higher than a newcomer The main course items were insipid to ok. The stone crabs were ok. Overly cracked so it was necessary to pick out small pieces of shell. The coleslaw was a poor imitation of the original. Instead of the usual mildly acidic slightly sweet marinade or dressingon the cabbage under the mayonnaise and relish, it tasted like almost pure vinegar. Even though the waiter cut it up and mixed it it was not worth eating. The home fries were ok. But they would have been less greasy if served with a towel on the plate to absorb the butter as is done in South Beach.
The key lime pie was great. They can do better. But it overall was still very good
