Perfect staff service! View the best!
This was an overdue family gathering so appreciated our server (Kyle) respecting our leisurely paced meal laced with great conversation.
Having lived in Del Mar since 1981, Jake's never fails to be an excellent choice when I have out of town guests.

We are in Southern California for a much needed vacation and our dinner at Jake's could not have pleased us more! Our server, Christian, was friendly, knowledgable and couldn't have made our evening better. The Ahi and the Scallop dishes were delectable and the view of the sunset is unmatched! We would definitely come back anytime were in the area!

We always love coming to Jakes. The food is top notch and you cannot beat the views. We have dined in the main dining room and at the bar, bot are great options. The valet service makes it easy to get in and out.

We came to cellibrate our friends birthday. I asked for a window seat but they sat us across from the window. The view was still good and the service was excellent. We also did some business after dinner and the server was very good about this and respectful. We never felt rushed. It was a great night.

The entire experience at Jake's was fabulous, from the hostess to the valet parking attendants, everything was perfect and will definitely return for special occasions, most definitely. Kudos to the staff at Jake's.

Food was great - service was friendly but they forgot our side order and didn't bring it until we more than half-finished with dinner. And the side was something that shouldn't have taken that long to prepare. Most places would have comped the side but they did not. So a ding for that. And, while the Hula Pie desert is really good, it used to have whole macadamia nuts embedded in the ice cream, but now it's chopped nuts in the chocolate sauce poured over the slice.

Jake's Del Mar has been one of the best Del Mr restaurants for years. They have mad some changes and have become even better. Great time for everyone. Choices of inside, bar, dining room or patio casual. Makes good food, good atmosphere worth the drive.

we are on vacation in san diego and got to eat in jake's twice...the first time we enjoyed it so much that we had to visit again just a week later to introduce it to one of our daughters ! now we have to go back to europe but will definitely recommend jake's to our people over there ! sitting in such a restaurant and having the opportunity to watch the ocean while eating is not a everyday's occasion for us Austrian's !

Tasty Options Very Few Veg Friendly but overall good experience. Stemware needs improvement nobody wants to pay 12-16 bucks and have a lip on their glass. Small detail but one that can't be overlooked. For the price point and views they could step this small detail up a bit! It also took 20 min from time that we sat down to get a cocktail...I think I still gave a generous review and this is surely a stop to make while in town either way!

Every bit of our experience was excellent at Jake's on Sunday late afternoon; we were celebrating our anniversary. Our waiter Clayton was friendly, helpful, and generally readily available throughout our time there. The food was terrific - we had calamari to start, steak and shrimp, and scallops as meals - all prepared flawlessly. And of course, excellent Hula Pie to complete things. The service and food were truly exceptional - we were expecting a great evening, but we both came away pleasantly surprised at how much better it was than we were already expecting!

I made reservations for 5:15pm on a Sunday and specifically asked for a window table on Open Table. My husband followed up with a phone call to make sure everything was in order. My parents were in from NJ and we wanted to have a special evening with the beautiful CA sunset as a backdrop. When we arrived we were told the window tables had already been seated despite our very specific request and reassurances. Apparently you have to be there at 4:30 to get a window which was not communicated to my husband when he called. The hostess reassured me that we would get a table with a wonderful view. The first table they took me to was totally unacceptable and I pointed two other tables that we had walked past (up a level from the window) which had a view. Of course we were left hanging while she had to go back and check. Finally seated. Our waiter started off Okay a little rushed and distracted but we got our salads. The Caesar was just okay and the Apple walnut was very vinegary. We were never asked if the salads were any good. Then we sat and sat and sat finally after 45 mins my husband asked a waiter (not ours who seem to have disappeared) where was our entrees. And finally our waiter confessed he forgot to put in the order. Spent time telling us how sorry he was and he was going to rush the order. Well we sat some more, he apologized some more. since our bottle of wine was finished and we enjoy drinking with the meal not before I suggested he bring another bottle on the house. He returned but no wine and no food. He threw a menu at us and said to pick an appetizer. Which we did good thing since the entrees were still not done. When the entrees came the food was good not fantastic and since we were really hungry we ate and paid the bill and left. I am sure this was an aberration but this this evening was not worth the money we spent!

It seemed that maybe a server did not show up for the night or ? Our service wasn't as good as it could of been. We had to flag down our server a couple of times and it seemed forever to get the dirty plates removed from the table.
My husband and I had the steak and shrimp plate, he upgraded his for $5 more. His was much better then mine. I ate 1/2 then tried to give him the rest, he said no way, yours is chewy.
The view by the windows is outstanding and the sunset is so nice from there.

We brought a friend for lunch for her 89th birthday, and the service and food were absolutely outstanding. Our waitperson, Alex, gave us excellent service and just "made" our friend's day! Of course, the view didn't hurt, either!!

The food is superb. The view of the ocean is excellent. The waiters were friendly and knowledgeable about the wine and entrees. The option to close the window as you desired was very nice. Only complaint: the table behind us left the window wide open and I wound up with a little stiffness in the back.

Jake's never disappoints. We were offered a table with our own window. Turned out to be a great table all the way on the end so it was very quiet. Food and drinks were top quality. I had the mai tai that Jake's is famous for. The salads had unique assortment of ingredients. The fish on a bed of butternut squash was surprisingly light but satisfying. But good intentions to eat light were ruined by the delicious ice cream wedge with creme and chocolate sauce. And of course, one of the best views in the world. Will return again and again.

We went to Jake's for brunch with great friends and family the day after a wedding celebration and had a wonderful time. The service was superb; we had a wonderful table right in the window with a gorgeous view of the beach, service was prompt and after spilling an almost full bloody mary, it was replaced for free. Jake's gets my highest recommendation.
