Jack Binion's - Horseshoe Casino - Southern Indiana Ratings and Reviews
Casino comp $100 We had to cover tip and drinks in cash as Indiana law does not allow comp alcohol. Food was good not exceptional, waitress was good not great, hostess who seated us was a grump. They did provide a free bday dessert. I would eat there again if the meal was comped, but would not pay to eat there. Their prices are in line with most over priced steak houses, but they want $12 fee if you want to share an entree, seriously? We did enjoy our meal, but it was not anything special or memorable.
This is hands-down one of the best places in the state of Indiana to get a ribeye steak. JEN ROCKS!
They always start you off with a basket of sourdough bread that's slightly crusted on the outside with salt and real butter.
With a variety of wonderful salads, but hands-down my favorite is still the martini BLT salad. It's made with this buttermilk ranch chopped up Romain chopped up tomatoes and wonderful bits of applewood bacon. They shake it tableside in a martini shaker and then put it on the plate.
We had some wonderful chef samples, that were just little slivers of salmon and a beautiful sauce that was both sweet and salty and I'm fairly certain it may have had some sort of that bourbon undertone to it.
They brought us some raspberry sorbet as pallet cleansers with local raspberries. It's exactly the kind of thing that takes you into the next course after having something like a fish sampler.
Dinner was boneless ribeye and I chose for mine a loaded baked potato at medium well. Included was a garlic garnish that is grilled and they were so perfectly done that the garlic dripped out like little butter that melted on the steak.
The ribeyes themselves are so majestically done by the chef, with just the right amount of fat on it so that the meat and the fat literally melt you would nearly not need a fork. There are additional number of sauces you could have put on the steak that are just as wonderful but why ruin the most perfect steak?
The baked potatoes were wonderful. You could definitely tell it was real butter, real sour cream with huge chunks of applewood bacon and chives on them, absolute heaven!
They have an amazing amount of desserts to choose from. My hands down go to favorite are always either the blueberry lemon cheesecake or their creme brûlée vanilla custard which is what we had last night with chocolate dip strawberries.
Amazing location, amazing chef, amazing server, and an amazing menu equal perfection in my book.
When we arrive we can late by 25 min because it was so foggy, We had to drive slow the road is 2 lane also no cell service. When we did get to check in counter there was three people waiting. The check in person finally came she looked in her book she said we did not see our name our check in time was 630.pm it was 655.pm . I told her this when she became rude told us to step over to the side. Her name was Amanda She made my dinning experiencing very upset all night. The dinning room was half empty .I order the fried green tomatoes where cut 1/4 in so they did not cook . scalloped so small waiter agrees when back bought me 2 extra. lobster tough, over cooked. My guess where happy with the steaks .
I was seated next to the kitchen where every time the door opened I could see and smell the garbage I think they sit me there because I was an older women. The waitress never introduced herself or offered me a drink to start with. She ask to take my order then ask if I wanted any alcohol. I wasn't for sure if she was asking if I wanted a drink or something to rub on. The food was very good. The bus help was excellent.
Normally it is a leisurely dining environment not so this time. Our steaks came out the same time as our salads. Also, normally they allow you to sip your cocktail, then bring the salad, followed by some sorbet to cleanse your pallet, then the main meal. She gave us our salads, then within a couple of minutes brought the entrees. She commented about the dinners coming out sooner than she expected, but did not do anything about it. My potato was barely warm due to the fact the plate sat on my table while I finished my salad. The steak was tender in spots but tough in other areas. Both steaks were stringy. I ordered mine medium and it was well done. My husband ordered his rare and it was medium well. Neither of us ate much of the steak. The spinach salad was amazing. Enjoyed the wine and bread. We did not have dessert.
We got the worng food and what we did receive was steak and crab and the crab was over cooked and had a bad taste..
We did receive 100.00 dollars off but still wasn't worth the 70 dollars we paid. And was never asked for any refills nor did we see the waitress again until we received our bill
The host Amanda is awesome, profession and a great pleasure to work with; I was stuck in traffic and she worked her magic to reschedule my reservation. Her smile and attitude made it a great meal and I could feel the sincerity in her voice when she said thank you for dining with us and knew she truly meant it. Excellent in employee. Please let her know that she is awesome. I did tell her but coming from management will mean more or something her check.
The food was really great, but the service was not so great. Our waitress somewhat refused to wait on us, and made sure she did not make eye contact when she came to our table. We waited to order, and then we probably waited 45 minutes for our food. It was then that she told us that a table of 14 had ordered right before us.
I would go back because it is a perfect place to go when staying at the Horseshoe. The bread was absolutely amazing!!
Would be so much more enjoyable for an upscale restaurant like yours to be totally non smoking. We visit there for great food and a relaxed feel. The prices and quality are overshadowed when seated near the smoking section. The atmosphere turns into a sports bar feel and the focus is the lingering smoke over a wonderful plate of food. There’s plenty of other places people can smoke. I’d rather enjoy my $100+ meal in a smoke free surrounding. I can eat on the boat a lot cheaper in smoke and also in the hotel lobby smoke free. Please consider it. You would most likely gain more business.
Appetizers of shrimp cocktail (the shrimp were HUGE) and oysters were very good. I ordered filet medium and while it was just a tad under for me, it was fine and very good. My friend ordered the steak diane which is finished off tableside, and while she ordered it also medium it was rare. She sent it back and they sent back out new steak and when she cut in again it mooed again it was so rare. So she sent that back and asked to just cook this meat more and not a new cut, and when that came back out it was now medium well, almost well done. She nearly finished the meat except for a couple pieces that were very well done. We received a free bananas foster desert to make up for the snafu. Otherwise it was a terrific experience.
Great atmosphere and venue.
Seated promptly at 545.
I highly recommend making reservations, especially on a weekend.
I had the Ribeye served with mashed potatoes and asparagus and a Martini shaken salad with butter milk ranch.
The dinner was above par as always with excellent service.
My date had Sea Bass and all the extras served with a nice white.
A great date night.
But a little pricey .
Dinner was a disaster. Ordered the bisque and it came out curdled with a layer of grease on top. The waitress was extremely friendly and noticed the issue; she had the chef prepare me a new one. After the soup, we waited approximately an hour to receive out entrees. The waitress came to our table several times and apologized for the wait, and gave us little samples of some gelato. When the meal finally came she said the chef wasn't happy with how one of the steaks looked so he/she had it remade. We were at the restaurant for over an hour and a half. The waitress was fabulous, but with as horrible an experience as we were having with our food order I would have expected a manager to have come to the table.
There were four adults at our table. Everyone's food was cold including sides. No one wanted their steak reheated because they were already over cooked and not as ordered. While the wait staff were very cordial I will never return because of the quality of the food. I'll stick with Jeff Ruby's for a great steak.
