Great place for a Sunday lunch. Great menu options, I personally like their Ahi Tuna Steak grilled to perfection. My wife loves the Steak and Fries, also grilled to taste and the fries are awesome! Very good selection of wines or drinks. Great service to complete the day.
We went for a girls night out and has a great time.
J’s has a great atmosphere, food prep is fast, and the food and service are both excellent.
The first baked potato was cold. I sent it back and they brought me a new hot one. The broccoli was old and gross but I wasn’t very hungry so I didn’t care.
Was great! The server may have been new as she was uNsure of ingredients, drinks, etc. She was very thorough in double checking everything . I had the Prime rib and hubby had strip, both great and flavorful. The mac and cheese is to die for! Great dinner
From greeting to nightcap, the service was notable. We encouraged this spot for our gathering. The only complaint was, after I "highly suggested", the ribs were over cooked and dry. Two of the 6 people ordered them and it was a mistake. All other parts of the evening were well enjoyed and by no surprise, the onion rings did not disappoint.
Good was tasty and great drinks. Onion rings are the best!
We’ve been to J. Alexander’s a few times but it’s been a couple years since our last visit. We always remember it for it’s good food and great service. Our last visit however, was neither. We waited a while, regardless of our reservation. The server at the bar was very tentative and happily took our drink orders while we waited. The food was okay, but the service was exceptionally terrible. We spent $100+ and not once did our server come to check on us. We saw her when she brought out our main course and never again until the bill arrived. I understand that Saturday’s can be busy but the lack of service that night surely doesn’t make us want to come back. We have 2 little ones and a date night is sacred around here. :(
Awesome!! Loved it will be back. Very respectful waitress. Very on point. Food was amazing as well! Me and my boyfriend really enjoyed it and will be coming back soon
Always good! I love the deviled eggs w candied bacon and the onion ring tower is huge! Filet Mignon w Madira special was awesome!
Food was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. For the money I would rather go somewhere else. Our server had an attitude - something you won't expect at a fine dining restaurant. Went there to celebrate a birthday but will not be back.
One of my favs in Jacksonville! Always great quality food.
I definitely look forward to my next visit here. It gave me an opportunity to be "romantic" for once and my date enjoyed what I surprised her with.
I frequent JAlex, decided to try something different. I ordered the prime rib sandwich. Sorry I did, filled with fat. I only ate a couple bites. The Mac & Cheese never disappoints. For the restaurant being pretty much empty service was just ok.
J Alexander’s is a restaurant that you can count on for consistency. Whether you dine there in Columbus, Ohio or Jacksonville, Florida-you can count on the food being the same great quality. We just wish that they still served those yummy croissants that they had for years!
Lunch, everything was as anticipated. Always pleasant.
Great service. Food was spot on. Very dependable for special or any occasion.
It was too loud to talk with friends
Four different entrees were ordered and every meal was excellent. Two of us were celebrating birthdays and the complimentary warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream drizzled with dark chocolate was a special surprise. Key lime pie was also an option. The Tuesday 20 wines priced at $20.00 was perfect. We enjoyed a rather nice cabernet and they cork it and place it in a sealed box so you can safely take it in your car. Our server was outstanding!
The food was great and the service exceeded expectations.
Nice dinner with wife and granddaughter - very good food - nice ambiance - a touch loud, but not overwhelming - excellent server (Sarah)
We are from Atlanta - have been to Perimeter and Roswell locations - this is equally nice and very good American/southern food. Nice wine list.
JA Is our most frequented restaurant in this range and value. This is because location and overall consistency.
This trip I ordered from the daily specials menu called the Tuna Burger. I swamped the rice or a kale super salad. I give the meal a 6 this visit. I was expecting a whole piece of Tune, but it was some form of a patty. I fought thru it and asked that the waitress give me a side of the sauce that comes with the large onion ring tower. That save the meal, but I would not order it again.
My wife had to wait 20 minutes for her Mac and cheese, but the waitress was gracious and thus was comped. Overall not one of our best visits, but JA is still my #1 in this range overall and we will return.
I have had the marinated ribeye about 10 times at this location. This is the second time I spent most of the time separating meat from fat. Forget using the larger knife as you will need the small one for your disection to separate meat from fat. The mash potato side was unseasoned and without any toppings. That too left me disappointed. I had too many great meals here to write this place off. I just will be more selective of my menu choices. After 2 bad experiences with this ribeye, I will not order it again. I can't believe the cook can't select and trim this cut before hiding all the fat with marinade.
Definitely had a lovely time. I enjoyed the entire experience.
Maui steak is to die for. I always take my mom there as a mother daughter treat. We love the steak and ambiance. Great service.
Our server Chantelle was fantastic!! Very attentive and on top of everything. Great experience 😊
We celebrated my sister’s birthday!!! Food and atmosphere was wonderful as always!
The staff were great, from the front door to the server. Our food was great and were large portions. The Warm Carrot Cake was really good! We started with that and the whole evening was fantastic! Definitely, our new "Go To" place for a romantic dinner!
This visit was stellar. Service was top notch, food was amazing. Would recommend to all of my friends.
My favorite place to dine. Love the food, love the people. Always perfect
Always enjoy. One drawback, overbooked for occasion. Should not have to wait 45 mins with a reservation. Then so many waiting no room to sit or stand. Need to do a better job.
Had dinner reservations for Valentine’s Day. Was not impressed with the greeters. We were a little late due to traffic and they made it very clear a couple of times that they were not obligated to honor our reservation. When I apologized because I thought our reservation was at 730, not 715, her response was “either way, it’s almost 745”. Another host made an effort to smooth it over by letting us know it would be a quick wait. We really didn’t mind waiting. Went to the bar to get a drink while we waited but were told it was a full service bar so we couldn’t sit there if we were waiting for a table. The couple next to us tried to order a couple different drinks (Yuengling and White Zin) and they didn’t have either of those. That was awkward. We did get a seat right As we were ordering our drinks and our server Jordan was great. Food was also delicious and not a long wait. Overall, experience was fine. I would go back.
Valentine Day Dinner.
Crowded and busy but service was excellent. My tuna was perfect but my wife's bayou pasta was too spicy for her taste. Christina graciously offered to do it again with less spice but we declined. Next time she'll request "light spice" when we order. Overall, an excellent dining experience on a very busy evening.
Crying and unruly children ruined valentine diner.
My wife and I had friends visiting from out of town and we were celebrating Valentine's Day. It was a surprise to everyone (except me) that we were dining at J. Alexander's. The restaurant gave all ladies one red rose (a very nice touch). The atmosphere was great and the food was delicious. The service was also outstanding.
I would recommend J. Alexander's to all my friends and family.
Very enjoyable atmosphere with a large selection of wines
Our server was great but unfortunately that was really the only good thing about our experience. The food was bland and overly priced for quality. I sent my steak back due to lack of flavor, requested it to be replaced with chicken. The chicken was better. My date got the seafood and it wasn’t high in flavor at all. Complained was bland but never offered to replace it. Manager never visited our table to see how they could make our dinin experience any better. I fee for the amount of money charged to eat there, the food could have been a lot better and the overall experience more pleasant. Disappointed that to spend that much of my hard earned money, the management staff didn’t do anything as small as greeting our table to see if they could help. I’ll def take my money elsewhere and get a better product of food at longhorn. Our server again was amazing, wish I could recall her name.
Food was great. Service pretty good, but it was day before Valentine’s Day.
We were seated by a family with a crying child. So, that was a little distracting. But other than that. We like J Alexander’s a lot.
Calamari was small and mostly fried batter. Server was good but way too formal. Ahi steak was fatty. The white fish special was great. Overall good experience because it was fun to see my long time friend. Bar tenders were great when we moved from table to bar.
We were seated promptly and the service was great. A lot of good choices on the menu and the food was very good. Good wine list, too. The portions are huge; plan on taking a to-go box. The noise level was moderate. We liked the ambiance and would go back.
