The food and service are always very good but pricey.
This is our second time at this location (now our home town one) and third overall at the chain--it is CONSISTENTLY superb in EVERY way. Well groomed, well trained, gracious servers...delicious and well-prepared food done right...great cocktails, welcoming atmosphere. You cannot go wrong here. FYI, the prime rib is the best we've had lately at any restaurant, the fried "Emerald Shrimp" are light and crisp and delicious, the caesar salad is first rate with great little cornbread croutons, and again, everything is done JUST right every time. Just GO!
We were traveling. We have eaten at JD's before and like the food and ambiance. Made a reservation so we could get in and out. Great place to eat. It was noisier than i would have liked but easy to overlook.
Tricia was great, and to food was excellent. I would definitely go back.
First time there for anniversary and it was the best choice I could gave made. Everything that we had was excellent will definitely be going back again. Derek our waiter was nice friendly and very polite and helpful on selections.
Good food. Good service. Really loud.
Our experience was very enjoyable both the quality of the Service as well as the food. We highly recommend the experience.
It was really nice! Extremely hot and dark where we sat today! The food was great and the service was good...they were about 30mins slow in the beginning 🙃. Chocolate was great as always!
It was a Mother’s Day outing with my three children. We enjoyed ourselves and will return.
Service was excellent, food good, overall positive experience
I took my 90-year-old mother to lunch for Mother's Day. Usually the food is very good but it just didn't seem to have great taste it normally has. We had Mr. Jack's Chicken Platter and the chicken was not as good as it has been in the past. My baked potato tasted was stale (that's the only way I know how to describe it) . Although it was freshly baked the potato seemed to be old.
The unsweetened Iced tea had an odd taste and it didn't taste like it had been brewed long enough. It was disappointing because usually the food is delicious.
My husband and I were there for our anniversary. They give you a free dessert for anniversaries which is a nice touch. The waiters and waitresses are great. They definitely go the extra mile.
food was good but waaaay over priced ! nice atmosphere beautiful clean restraunt.
Only complaint, the food wasn’t cooked to preference.
My 45th bday. No place I’d rather eat for my bday. We come at least once a month and tonight was fabulous as always. Thanks for my dessert!!
Karlie was amazing we had a wonderful meal
Went for my wife's birthday, they had quick and friendly service. They even have a handwritten letter saying Happy Birthday and gave us a free dessert. Very nice touch
It was great as usual!
I have been coming here for years and J Alexander’s never disappoints!! The food is always great and the staff is outstanding!! ❤️❤️❤️I enjoyed my birthday this afternoon!!
Great experience as usual.
Had a great time out together. Love this restaurant and the ambiance. Wish they had one in my town but I’ll settle for stopping by when we get a weekend aaway.
First time for us at J Alexanders, although we have heard from many people that it is a good place to eat. We were seated promptly and had several people stop by the table to make sure we had drink orders and appetizer orders placed. Our server was very friendly and efficient, the food was delicious (the NYO mac and cheese was excellent), our steaks were cooked perfectly. They did not carry a Moscato wine, which was disappointing, but certainly not the end of the world.
We were seated in a booth (nice!) and were having a very nice conversation but were continually interrupted by the children sitting in the booth behind us. They were climbing up and down the booth back, screaming, talking loudly wanting to show us their "boo boos", continually lifting the blinds up and down - all this as their parents just ignored their behavior. It completely killed the atmosphere for us. We did ask the parents to settle them down so that we could enjoy our evening and very expensive night out in peace. They were very offended that we would even ask and started lobbing insults at us. (This was a grown and mature couple!) We asked the waitress to be moved in the middle of our meal, we offered to go to the bar so as not to cause a hardship for anyone. The staff promptly moved us and all of our meal components to the bar with apologies.
Truly, I was surprised at the number of children and families dining here. For the price and promised atmosphere, it was a shock. We really appreciate the staff doing all they could to make it right for us, but I would certainly reconsider choosing the restaurant for a romantic meal out.
Very nice evening with family and friends. Even ran into a past coworker not seen in many years. Good few minutes catching up in a very relaxed atmosphere. Always enjoy the food and beverages there. Wait staff is very professional and proficient. Would recommend for any occasion.
Birthday for my 81 year old sister. J. Alexanders always meets my expectations.
My 11 year old son ordered a hamburger—ordered medium well done and it was raw red meat on the inside after he bit into it. The waiter was just ok, we didn’t have silverware, he didn’t bring any salad dressing with my salad, and the crab cake meal my husband ordered was barely warm. I was disappointed with our experience.
Excellent service and food but so are other places in town that are not as Expensive.
Great service, great food. Desserts are awesome, especially the carrot cake.
Birthday, the meal was excellent.
We have been dining in JAlexander’s for years. Food and service are consistently great. Good job to management and staff members!
Our server was hardly serving. We barely seen her.
We were served uncooked macaroni and cheese. We had to wait nearly 5minutes before our server decided to come by and she seem irritated.
We literally finished our meal before they properly cooked a fresh macaroni and cheese, so we asked for it to go and they gave a kid size serving. For the price you would respectfully ensure that your guest is able to leave with what they are paying for.
Wasn’t a good night for J Alexander’s.
J. Alexander’s seems, from the prices at least to be leaning towards the upper upper echelon of food quality, but It falls just short to its apparent goal.
My first visit was Saturday dinner among friends. The entire J. Alexander's staff were very polite and professional. Our server was extra attentive and informative to help with meal choices. My NY Strip was flavorful, tender, a generous portion, and cooked (medium) to perfection. The sides were fresh and tasty. Save room for the very large and wonderful Key Lime Pie and Carrot Cake.
Great food and location, everything is always wonderful when we dine out. The best part is you can make reservations in advance and skip the wait.
We have dined at J Alexander's on multiple occasions over the years. The majority of the time our experience has always been delightful from the atmosphere, to the service and the food. On this particular occasion out of our party of 6, everyone's meal was wonderful with the exception of mine. I was not particularly concerned, just figured it was an off night for the chicken. But the Manager overheard my friend comment to me about my meal. She was gracious enough to return to our table and inquire. She apologized my experience was less than exceptional and removed my meal from the bill.
The fact that she took the time to inquire and then reacted in a proactive manner speaks to the quality of this establishment and to her management. THANK YOU!
We will continue to return and enjoy this dining experience.
The deviled eggs were too spicy for my wife to eat. My wife's prime rib was tough & fatty. My beef kabobs were very chewy, vegatables poor & rice was mushy.
We Love J's but I wonder why I did not get my points/
This is our favorite restaurant particularly for a special occasion. However for the first time we were disappointed with our service. After waiting 45 minutes for an entree and two bowls of soup, a manager stopped by and said our order had been “lost.” We received our salads promptly so not sure how the order was lost.
We had to ask for tea refills when our glasses were empty.
This was my husband’s birthday which I noted in the reservation. No mention was ever made of this.
After finally receiving our food we ate. We ordered dessert to celebrate. Again nothing. It would have been nice to have the dessert comped.
Having been a customer many times at this restaurant I can only assume this was a bad night.
