My pizza came out undercooked, and, as we were in a rush with theatre tckets, I opted for the penne ala vodka to replace. Not only was this handled quickly and professionally, they brought me an entirely new, freshly and properly cooked pizza to take with us. 5 star customer experience.

I eat here often and enjoy the food. It can get a tad noisy, but it's worth it. They have a taste of menu that changes every month and is based of different regions of Italy and that is one of the reasons I eat here.

We use to love Il Fornaio but it just isn't as good as it use to be. There is a lot of competition out there with better food in my opinion. That being said I'd say it's a solid three and is worth eating at. The converted bank is nice.

We ate in their beautiful greenhouse room; it felt cozy and luxurious at the same time. Food was beautifully presented. Perfect portion sizes. We ordered two pasta dishes and two entrees, and everything was delicious. It is a classy place with wonderful service.

All three of us loved our entrees. My granddaughter wanted chicken fettuccine which was not on the menu but the waiter said they could do it. My husband and I enjoyed our wine selections. Extremely helpful service.

I've been to many of the Il Fornaio restaurants and the one in downtown Sacramento has by far the most beautiful interior design. Traditional upscale European decor with very high ceilings is a pleasure to behold. And of course, the food and service has never been less than excellent. Hence, it has been the "go to" restaurant for my wife and I, as well as our family when they are in town, for many, many years.

I took my son to Il Fornaio before the Paul McCartney show because it was a special night, Il Fornaio is a lovely restaurant, and my son had not yet eaten there. The hostess was wonderful and we were seated at a nice table at a window. It was a very busy night, and I think the service and quality of the food suffered for it. Our waiter filled water glasses at the tables around us while mine stayed empty. We waited a while for our order to be taken. When our food arrived, after another too-long wait, the cannelloni I had ordered was toasted on top to a very dark brown, which indicated to me it was overcooked. My son enjoyed his shells and the tiramisu was amazing. Our waiter was kind. But Il Fornaio has a lot of competition these days and would do well to step up its game. I am not going to hurry back with so many new places to try.

The Butternut Squash Raviolis were excellent and perfectly cooked. The entree came out along time after our salads as it did for other tables but it was the first event at Golden 1 Center so they did not plan for such a crowd even though you had to have reservations. They had plenty of wait staff but not enough staff in the kitchen for the early arrivals and crowd. One table of four knew the manager and got their entrees immediately while three tables including ours who were seated 25 minutes earlier had to wait for along time. Our waiter kept coming by to let us know it shouldn't be much longer which became annoying.

When we arrived we were immediately greeted, seated, and from there our waiter took excellent care of us. The service was great, food excellent, and the atmosphere quiet and perfect for an evening of talking over very tasty food. We'll definitely return.

This was my second time eating at Il Fornaio. The first time was for my birthday (May 2016) and was very satisfying. This time was for my husbands birthday and turned out very disappointing. I couldn't believe it was the same restaurant. There wasn't a lot of people, less than 1/3 full, yet they still tried to seat us right next to a large group, outside, without asking whether we wanted to sit inside or out. I told the hostess that we wanted another table, preferably one a bit larger. They didn't have any they were willing to give to a couple, so we ended up sitting near the entrance to the inside dining room. The table was uncomfortably small and neither of us are overweight. The waitress was kind but not very knowledgeable of the menu. She brought us bread but even that tasted bad. I ordered the raviolis and my husband got a beef tenderloin. All I can say is YUCK!!! It tasted nothing like the wonderful food we had on our first visit. I wanted to drown the nasty flavor out with parmesan but wasn't offered any. I finally got the attention of our server and asked for some but was only given a scant amount. Im not sure why there was such a huge difference but I don't think I will ever eat there again. Good luck to those who do.

I always enjoy eating here. I have no idea what I would recommend it for other than for a good place to eat good food . Everything else is just more. The waiters are not working, they are part of the experience. They are professionals.

This was my third visit and once again it was a delightful dining experience . It was my friend's
birthday and first time there. She commented numerous times how much she enjoyed II Fornaio. I would like to thank Alejandro for the excellent service and making my friend's
birthday lunch at II Fornaio one that will definitely be repeated!

We here monthly for their rotating Festa menu features from the various regions of Italy. Most of the waiters are knowledgeable, but this one is superior. We tried a new wine that was wonderful. The veal was tender and tasty. The pear raviolis are house made delectable. Lovely tiramisu!!!

Enjoyed Italian regional cuisine theme, would want to return to sample cuisine of another region when they rotate to new menu. Did not request wine advice fro staff, but listed wines had good descriptive summary, found one we all (3) liked.. Waiters attentive without seeming cloying or intrusive. All at our table agreed that theirs was the best dish, reluctant to share.

This is one of our favorite special occasion restaurants in Sacramento. The food is consistently good, there are lots of menu selections to please a lot of different palates and the service is outstanding. We were there on a slow Saturday night, so service was extremely attentive. Because of the occasion, we were grateful to not be rushed out, and indeed we were encouraged to relax and savor our meal. Seafood is always good here, and their duck is wonderful too when it is on the menu. Caesar salad was really above and beyond the ordinary - evidently very freshly made (and homemade) dressing. Absolutely delicious. A beautiful place. It is a little noisy because of the high ceilings.

We always have a lovely evening at Il Fornaio. The food is outstanding. I had the carbona which was delicious and hot! Our server Said is fabulous. The caprese was perfect. I would prefer burrata; but the mozzarella was nice and soft. Can't wait to go again!!!

The only problems was we got there about 10 minutes early for our reservation and the specials menu . Wasn't ready so , that wasn't good . Front house manager was a podium when we walked in . Good wine list , would like them to carry some of our wines !

The occasion was to celebrate the retirement of a co-worker in our group. We wanted a place quiet enough to talk and with a good atmosphere. We were seated on the enclosed patio, which was a great spot--nice and light and air-conditioned! The service was wonderful--water glasses were kept filled, food came quickly, and the bread was delicious, as usual. Three lunch specials (!) and the regular menu offered something for everyone. When we were all finished eating, our server brought our retiree a "slice" of spumoni, decorated with raspberry sauce and a lit candle. We weren't rushed out as soon as we finished and they let us have separate checks, so this was a great group dining experience.

It was an overall great experience... however, we were given a birthday dessert platter, which we did not ask for, and were charged for it.
The private room for intimate birthday party was amazing and service was fantastic. I thought the Corkage fee was a bit high, but doable.

Deserts were winners, as was the service, the night we came (Monday) the veggie portion was a little strange. I ordered the sea bass, it was handled pretty well but I would have been better off with a pasta dish. We will be back
