Hom Wood Fired Grill Ratings and Reviews
Quiet on a Saturday night of the Big10 Championship, but enough people that servers were busy. Mike was a pro, though, and took very good care of us. Prime rib with roasted brussels sprouts instead of potatoes was cooked perfectly, the veggies hot but not overcooked. Big slice of beef and lots of veggies made for enough to bring a bit home. Chopped salad was fresh, and bacon mac&cheese was the real deal. Great comfort food!
Decent. Good food, nothing spectacular, didn't make my taste buds jump for joy, or die off.
For the price of the meals, it's not really worth it.
This is a one an done restaurant, went there an tried it,
Will not go back though
We got the 32$ steak, dry twice baked potatoe, grill Brussel sprouts which had odd taste.
Salmon fillet meal.
Nice large fillet, pretty good flavor, had better, with some fancy greens, and and some very plain tiny balls, think it was rice, supposed to be a bed of asparagus, but it was a the rice ball stuff and maybe 8 cut up chunks of asparagus.
Found this place on yelp. Very good service for a Saturday evening. Cheese curds were fantastic with ranch dipping sauce. The corn bread was awesome. Wood fired pizza not quite wood fired but still good. Husband had the salmon dish. Very well prepared. Would go again!!
I like the concept of this restaurant and the food was quite good but the service fell far short of a good experience. We had the beet salad, chicken pot pie, and a small side of mac and cheese. Everything was tasty and I would definitely order it again. I liked that they had lighter options like the beet salad to match the heavier options like the pot pie and stroganoff.
Our waitress was unfortunately not great. She took our dinner order and we basically never saw her again. Our drinks and water ran out and neither she nor any other server the place stopped by to see if we needed anything. She also forgot something from our order but we were pretty full from sharing the pot pie so, while we still would've been happy to take it home, it never came. Luckily we were not charged for it.
We've been here several times and have always had great food, nice atmosphere and great service. Good selection of unique fare and many items are grown/raised on the owners farm. One downside we've run into twice is, depending on your seating and time of day there can be a glare of sunshine and the blinds they have are not particularly good at creating shade for all areas. They have a great combination of seating which includes a bar area, tables, booths and outdoor.
We chose Hom for an anniversary dinner. Nice location and theme, and the service was amazing. The food however was less than acceptable and pricey for how bad it was. I wouldn't recommend it for future visits as you could get more bang for buck and actually enjoy your meal for a lot cheaper somewhere else.
The shrimp flat bread and Brussels sprouts were excellent. The beef in both dishes was low quality and not that well prepared. Wine was OK but the glass was priced Chicago style rather than at Wisconsin supper club level. An lunch we had there was flawless, but this dinner was disappointing.
We chose the restaurant as a mid-point meeting place for we two couples. The wives each had the Great Lakes Walleye, my friend had the Bacon Wrapped Sirloin, and I opted for the BBQ Glazed Meatloaf. All of us were very happy with our choices. The walleye was enough for two meals, and the sirloin and meatloaf were of ample portions. The meal was made more enjoyable because of our server. She was very knowledgeable, friendly and she kept us smiling all evening. We'll go back.
I got the Rotisserie chicken and it was very dry. My boyfriend got the pot roast and it was dry as well. I advised our waitress and she did remove our appetizer from our bill. Not sure if we'll come back as they were also short staffed for the weekend. One waitress for a large section that included a large group in it. Do to this our waitress forgot to refill drinks or check on us in a timely manner which I felt was not her fault.
Overall our family had a wonderful time of fellowship since it was not loud and we could actually hear each other. Also the food was delicious and our server was quite gracious. We did notice where we sat (by the windows) that there appeared to have been some recent work done due to there being saw dust still on the window sills.
We had a great experience. Service was good, food was delicious. Manager provided special parking without our asking when he saw us with an infant in the rain. We were there celebrating her baptism, and everyone was so attentive. Would definitely visit again.
Very decent place, good food and reasonably good value. The artisan cheese plate had some rather yellow cheddar cheese but was otherwise OK (probably best to skip). Rotisserie chicken was competently prepared. Parsnip potato soup was very good.
Greeted by the hostess who said that we didn't have a reservation because Open Table books reservations for the closed Brookfield location (even though the map and reservation stated Bayshore). Wasn't a problem as we were earlier and only 1 table was filled. We had cheese curds, Tuna Rice Bowl, and Stuffed Shrimp Fettuccini. Atmosphere was nice, but food was average and there are better places for the price.
I keep wanting to like HOM. I've been there a handful of times now and each time I leave disappointed. The ambiance is nice and the restaurant has neat decor, but overall the food is not good. The cheese curds appetizer and the skillet cookie dessert are the only items worth eating, and even then they are nothing special. Menu items that sound tempting based on the written description come out of the kitchen flavorless nearly inedible. Save your money and go somewhere else.
The place Is very inviting when you enter, however when I sat down at the table, I got a sliver in my hand from the table and the the water glass was all crusty on the outside.
We had the cheese curd appetizer which was excellent. I had the Hom Burger , which was terrible. It had a strong bitter taste, the bacon was not fully cooked, the burger was not hot and the gluten free bun, which they charge 3.50 for was cold. In addition the lettuce on the plate was limp and the tomatoes were mushy. Sweet potatoe fries we're excellent. Creme Brûlée was good, but very sweet.
The waiter was very nice, but somewhat inexperienced.
Would not go back.
The menu does not list non alcoholic drinks, nor prices for those drinks. What we thought was a bill that would be $55 turned out to be $78. Although we paid it, it was frustrating not to have a break down of the bill nor be told the prices for drinks before we purchased. Food was great, took a bit of time to get to the table but the manager and server both apologized to us. They did give a complementary dessert but to us we were so full from dinner, and I am allergic to what was brought that it was an empty gesture. Instead of the "free" dessert they could have comped the bill instead or asked us what we would have wanted. Overall a place we would return.
Three of our four meals were very poor. Stroganoff was tasteless and the spare ribs had fat and grizzle I've never seen before. Mash potatoes were lumpy. When my wife complained about the spare rib quality the waitress brought out the prime rib and it was marginal. Very disappointing.
This was our first time at Hom and we will definitely return. Would highly recommend you start with the cheese curds. The Mac and cheese was very good, as was the half chicken and the meatloaf. Server was friendly and very attentive. Overall, a great experience.
Pot roast was great. The chicken dinner ok but not outstanding. We were celebrating a birthday and I made that notation in my reservation. In the past we have received a yummy complimentary birthday dessert. I was a little disappointed that didn't happen this visit.
