HK’s Restaurant & Bar open for evening dining is located off the main lobby in The Lodge of Four Seasons, and features floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views of our beautiful Japanese Gardens and of the Lake of the Ozarks main channel. My wife and I ate at HK's on a Monday evening. It was a slow evening with diners at only 5 tables. Wait staff was friendly and tried hard to make sure we had an enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The restaurant could use a good cleaning as dust was visible on lettering and window sills. Our food was tasteless and improperly prepared. I sent back a cup of barely warm she crab soup that was thick and pasty enough to stand a spoon up in. Our server indicated that the chef had just made it and didn't know why it was so cold. On the plus side, she readily accommodated my request to return it to the kitchen and replace it with a salad. We were also told by our server that the vegetable of the day was broccoli. When our entrées arrived we were served overcooked asparagus instead. Lastly, we ordered a bottle of wine to accompany our meal. Our server poured the first glass and did not offer to refill our glasses for the remainder of the evening.
In short, management needs to be more engaged with the operation of the restaurant by ensuring the facility is clean and staff are adequately trained. The food and service we experienced fell well short of other comparably priced steak and seafood restaurants located nearby.
We asked to be seated by the lake view and we were currently the only party in the restaurant. All were four top tables that you could put together. They had put three tables together already for our party on the opposite side of the empty restaurant. We asked to move, hostess said this was the only table that could accommodate us. We said, aren't they all the same tables? She said yes. Then the manager came and said they only do large parties on the side of the empty restaurant with no views. Then they screwed up all of our drinks. Every one. Martinis came out on the rocks, manhattan came out as just whiskey on the rocks. The waitress also delivered one- literally one drink at a time since that's all she could hold, while four servers just stood around watching. Then they told us that we had to order dinner at the same time as our appetizers. We said we'd prefer to space it out. Waitress said and I quote, no you aren't allowed. It just kept going down from there. In the end, the server was very kind. That was the only redemption.
Restaurant wasnt that busy. Waited 10 minutes to be greeted by server. 1 server covering multiple tables while other staff standing around talking. Never received refresh on any drinks. Steaks mixed up and cooked wrong. By the time it was correct, it was 15 minutes after everyone else's food served, they were all finished eating. No hustle by anyone. Meanwhile, server continued small talk with other customer. This place has potential to be great but too inconsistent depending upon the night, staff working and management.
I have attended the Thanksgiving Buffet several times in years past and it was excellent. There was a lot of variety in food offerings and the presentation was great. I returned this year expecting the same standard, but the meal fell very short of what I remembered. I understand cost savings is important but I believe with the number of people who attend the buffet, they will more than make up any expense they incur in making the Thanksgiving meal something to remember.

Omg, the Thanksgiving buffet was outstanding! The variety of gourmet, quality choices were of utmost perfection! The customer service so friendly and attentive. This could become a tradition very easily!
Great service and scrumptious food! The scallops were fit for a king with sweet golden raisins and a sauce that made your palette sing! plenty of options for a vegetarian or pesca without doing the pull and weave. The Mayfair salad is delish! All desserts are made from scratch in house so you just can't go wrong. The sea salt caramel cake...oh la la! Wait staff is attentive without you feeling like they are part of the party.
Great for business, date or girlfriend gathering. The atmosphere allows for relaxed, comfortable setting with a more sophisticated ambiance. For lake dining, more upscale than shorts and tees and no screaming kids :).

After years of not coming into this restaurant we decided to give it a try. Boy, we were glad we did. The renovation was well appointed and it was great to see it's not as "stiff" as it used to be. The place really seems to have taken on a new vibe with a great atmosphere.
Now the food:
Ordered the steak (cooked perfectly)! The Shrimp and Grits are the best I've ever had. Service was pleasant, and quick, but not to quick, so you could really enjoy the experience. We will definitely be back. I highly recommend!
We have had dinner here many times since we attend a conference every year. We have never had many complaint and I must say last night we had the best meal so far. Thr onion rings are always huge and crispy with the house dipping sauce. The short ribs were melt in your mouth tender and savory. The wasabi mashed potholes and sauce from the ribs topped it off.. My husband enjoyed the fish special, Arctic char. It had a tasty sauce and the fish was light and cooked perfectly. Our martinis were shaken and blended perfectly. The hotel has been renovated and there may be a new chef as well. We are going back tonight!
In the midst of the vacation season they were horribly understaffed. Ran out of patience waiting for our server to return for a drink refill, finally went to the bar myself. Waitress missed an ordered item and never came to check on us. Way overpriced for the (poor) level of service. Finally had to seek a beleaguered manager for relief. If you want to charge four star prices for your food and drinks then ensure commensurate service.
HK's presents itself as if it is a high-end steak house. This is far from the truth. The menu is extremely limited. I've had more variety at fast food restaurants. We were seated at an awkward table. The chairs were too low and far back which made dining difficult. I would not go here again.
Service was horrible. We waited at least 20 minutes (I stopped looking at my watch) for someone to even touch our table and bring water. When we finally inquired where our server was, another server launched into an explanation of how our server was "double sat" and the ramifications of that. As a hungry diner, I don't care -- I just want a glass of water and my food order! Very frustrating. Someone else finally came to take our order, and our actual server didn't show up until we already had our food. I had ordered my salad with dressing on the side, and it came with no dressing at all. Then our server brought the wrong dressing... after another (at least) five minutes, she brought the correct dressing. No apologies at any time for our wait, her mistakes, etc. When we ordered dessert, she came back to say they were out of our choice. Such a disappointing evening.
The restaurant had fewer than 6 diners at 6:30pm. We ordered drinks, which came quickly. Then we looked at the very limited dinner menu, which compared to 5 years ago, was extremely disappointing. We did not stay and left for another nearby restaurant.
In our opinion, this was a wonderful restaurant that was left to decline in the last couple of years.
We won't be returning.
Me and my wife went here for our anniversary I got the chicken marsala had no taste very small portion. My wife had a cobb salad 14 dollars looked like a kids portion. View was great service ok. Seen a lot of people had pizza maybe we sould have got that. Overall not worth the price and very small dinner menu.
After having a long day out it was great to simply make reservations online and not have to wait a long time to get seated. We wanted a nice, quiet and romantic dinner. The staff was wonderful, quick to get drinks and orders, refills, had great recommendations for dinner and dessert. The view was spectacular, the lighting perfect to set the mood and the food itself was splendid and robust with lots of flavor. Definitely a place you should try.
Very disappointed. Went on Valentine's Day and had only choice of $60 per plate or sitting up around bar for appetizers only. Did not note this when made reservation so very misleading. So my salad was $10 and it was something you would get with a steak dinner, small, mainly all lettuce, nothing special. Husband got brisket tacos. Again very small food portions. For the lake this was very disappointing. Would not recommend. Service was great but there was hardly no one there.
We reserved a table on Valentine's Day not knowing they had a set menu to choose from. We've eaten there before and we're very satisfied but this time the food was below average. Very disappointing and very pricy. Will try HK's again hoping to get the quality of food we were expecting.
My friends and I dinned at HK's for Christmas Dinner, and, not just because it was Christmas, it was an outstanding experience. I have enjoyed my share of Prime Rib, but this was the best I have ever had! It was a beautiful dining experience. Thank you, Lodge of Four Seasons and the amazing culinary team!
Recently stayed at the lodge at 4 seasons and decided to have our anniversary dinner at HK's. Our hostess was nice and even congratulated us. I had requested a window table but to be honest every table has a great view of the lake and the stroll garden. Our waitress was nice and extremely professional always filling our glasses without interrupting our conversation. As for the the food I got the special which was surf and turf. 6oz prime rib and a lobster tail. The lobster was moist and had good flavor but the star was the prime rib. The chef came to our table because the special was new and wanted to see what we what we thought. My wife ordered the pizza. Which I made fun of until it came out. It was good size and was ST.Louis style pizza. The crust was crisp and good flavor. Not what I expect to see on a steak house menu. The place was not packed but it was not empty either and the tables are far enough a part that you can't hear the other tables.
