Green Valley Grill Ratings and Reviews
This is still my favorite restaurant in Greensboro. However this time the service was spotty. We had a young waitress who seemed a little overwhelmed, and had to be reminded of things several times. Since the service is usually excellent it was surprising. I'm convinced she brought me a regular coffee since I was up all night ! But, the food was delicious and this slip in service was an exception rather than the rule.
Not my first visit, but very disappointing. Made reservations and was asked if this was a special occassion. It was my father's 85th bday. He recently moved here to live with me and GVG was his choice as he had heard about when he lived in Raleigh. We came, were seated at a table in the middle of the room near the kitchen so it was hard to hear (and my father is challenged in that dept anyway) had fair service, wine was forgotten and had to ask to hear the specials. Was disappointed that at no time did anyone acknowledge or ask if we were celebrating anything. Not sure why I was asked at the reservation. Normally a fan of GVG, but not this time. Didn't help that the next night I took a friend to another restaurant for her birthday and they not only had all staff acknowledge her birthday, as they waited on us, they had decorations on the table, gave her free dessert and took our picture. Now, granted, I didn't not expect any of this (and it was a little over the top) and I am sure it was part of the dinner expense, but it made her happy ad added to our meal. My father was having what we considered a milestone birthday and although i know it is hard to recognize everyone's special occassions, it would've been nice for him to hear it. I am sure I will try again, but may stick to lunch. Your salmon is one of my favs!
I am not a complainer and we were patient and did not say a word at dinner, except to ask again for our wine.
I would first note that I/we eat here quite often and have generally had good experiences. Tonight our waitress was excellent and attentive however the food preparation was inexcusably poor. The ahi tuna appetizers- ordered rare - came out medium to medium-well. The main course halibut was overcooked and dry. This was replaced with a filet mingon ordered medium-rare: this arrived bloody rare-minus. They re-cooked the filet and got it to more of a medium, at least edible. The manager did comp the whole meal. The waitress was excellent and we left $30 tip for her. I suspect there may have been a change in their kitchen (new chefs?) but can't be certain. This is two weeks in a row that the experience was unacceptable. We will probably take a 4-6 week break from GVG and retry again in the fall. Thankfully there are plenty of fine restaurant alternatives in Greensboro. It would be a shame if GVG does not correct whatever it is that is going on there. The place really has a fantastic atmospheric and nice staff.
Attentive, unobtrusive service in a lovely garden setting! The tomato starter was attractively presented w just a hint of soft goat cheese. My friend extolled the virtues of the super crispy fries and shortrib sliders. My mixed greens with rare tuna (aka tuna salad) was delightful. Our first dining experience at GVG is now a happy memory, and we plan to return with friends.
The waitress was very poor--poor language skills, inattentive, spilled wine. Lamb severely undercooked. Employees moving tables and chairs throughout the meal. Generally we have had good experiences here but on this busy Friday apparently they were understaffed and added poor help.
Enjoyable meal shared with family for Father's Day celebration/two birthdays...Tanner was our congenial server and our food was delicious and well-presented. Pleasant atmosphere and comfortable temperature made our Sunday Brunch visit memorable. Pleasantly surprised by the culinary selection, presentation, flavors, quality and value...we will return!
My family loves Green Valley Grill and chose it for Father's Day. While the food was delicious and our server quite sweet and attentive, the kitchen was very slow. We had a 1:30 p.m. reservation and was served our main course at 2:45. Unfortunately, there were enough empty tables around 2:15 p.m. that all of us were surprised our food took so long. Realizing this was a hectic day for the kitchen, we will prepare for a long wait the next time it's a special occasion. Otherwise, the afternoon was very enjoyable. The Green Valley Grill is one of the most beautiful restaurants (absolutely great atmosphere) in GSO with excellent food and usually not the long wait time we experienced!
It is a nice environment, but the food is over priced for brunch. Our waiter was also awful. We had mistakes with our order, no checking back, forgetting us when we did manage to ask for something, no refills on water or coffee, and complete cluelessness with the bill. It should be better.
Very nice ambiance . . . wait staff was attentive in a good way . . .food was great as usual. . . just a nice overall experience. The only bad thing about it was that I left what they boxed up for me to take home on the table when we left . . . .hate when that happens!
I have eaten here for years whenever I'm in town and when they have prime rib as a special I have usually ordered it as it has been superb. However, it was a disappointment in my most recent visit. A little dry and grainy-tough. Regardless, the ambiance and service are exemplary. My father ordered a special (creole flavored fish) and it was delicious.
We celebrated Father's Day early with our family, including 2 children. We started with the tapas which were very tasty, especially the chick pea salad. It was fun to eat some items that we had never tried. Two of the adults had the daily special which was rockfish and they said it was very good. I had the salmon which tasted fresh and was perfectly prepared. It came with polenta and vegetables which were also good. Two of the adults had the parmesan crusted chicken breast and they enjoyed that as well. The children seemed to like the burgers which were prepared to their specifications. They also enjoyed the creme brulee and the ice cream with hot espresso poured over it. Everyone thought the food and the service were both great!
We have held our client lunches at the Green Valley Inn Grill for the past 4 years. I never have to worry about how it is going to go. Service is always impeccable, the food always fresh and well prepared and presented and the atmosphere the perfect balance of peaceful ambience and privacy that allows us to have a casual business meeting without feeling the tables around us are listening in.
I will continue to visit frequently.
