Fortify Kitchen and Bar Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I celebrated Valentine's Day at Fortify this year and, as always, walked away supremely happy. The food was phenomenal and the service impeccable. It is a bit pricey so we only got on special occasions, but we are on the constant look out for things to celebrate there. I recommend the gouda fritters for anyone looking for an excellent appetizer. We never miss a chance to eat them.
Went here for valentines dinner, something new we had never been to before. There are not a lot of restaurants near us, and this one is an hour away. Everything was great, except we ordered the grits dish and they left the chicken off of it. Instead of replacing the dish with the advertised ingredients, they brought out a side of chicken tenders. It was kind of weird. Other than that everything was great. The craft drinks and specials were very good. We need more places like this in the North GA area!
My husband and I recently moved about 20 mins from Clayton and have been looking for a restaurant like Fortify! We fell in love! They have excellent food, great drink menu, perfect ambiance. I ordered the crab cakes, which were excellent. My husband ordered a specialty item on the menu, lamb shank, which he said was superb! We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a romantic sit down mean with great food! We will definitely be back!
One of the top dining options in Rabun County. Great place to have a classic or artisan cocktail with a good wine list and excellent starters. Lunch and dinner menus are diverse and sourced locally at every opportunity. This is the only restaurant in the south where you'll experience trout the way it should be. Great job, guys!
Fortify is one of those unusual gems ... rare ... special ... unexpected location ... loyal customers ... great menu ... reasonable value. We have had meals here that beat some of the best in Atlanta, and if I mentioned them by name, you would know what they are. I am almost reluctant to spread the word but if you've been here, you want them to thrive, succeed, and kept doing what they do best -- have a super interesting farm-to-table menu, with very interesting recipes. Remarkable. Keep up the great work!
All of our entrees were delicious to look at though I couldn't taste them all due to allergies.
Our server, Jeremy was attentive and fun, too. The lamb chops I had with the brussel sprouts were perfectly prepared and my dessert was bested by the cheesecake to my right;-)!!
Thanks to the chefs!!
We have eaten here a lot but the New Year’s Eve set menu was the best meal we have had here.
Reasonable price for lobster and filet entree with 3-4 appetizers and 3 dessert choices. Service always good, friendly, accommodating. The sauces were unusually good and seemed lighter than usual, which enhanced the flavors.
My wife had lamb 2 wYs appetizer and it was a lot of food and exceptionally good. I had a duck breast salad that was excellent. I don’t eat beef so in place of the filet I got 4 wonderful scallops.
My wife had a wonderful chocolate dessert and I had a macaroon Napoleon dessert, which was crispier than I’m used to and really outstanding.
We talked about this meal the next day too it was so good.
I thank Fortify for opening it's doors on Christmas Eve, this year a Sunday which, is a day restaurant is normally closed.
My decision for a lower rating was a server brought out entrée when I was only 1/2 way through finishing my appertizer.
He just stood there with entrée in hand waiting for me to make room or give up my most enjoyable appertizer.
After some time past I said, "what would you have me do" ?
With no reply he placed entrée on edge of table and hustled away.
We were seated right away with our made ahead reservations. The food was delicious, as usual, and the service was prompt and servers knowledgeable. We love to hear about the daily specials and usually get one. The grouper special that night was very good! Shared a creme burlee for dessert and it was also very good! Great place for special occasions, or a nice lunch.
Truly farm to table fresh, local ingredients. Chef Jamie and his staff have never let us down!
As usual, Fortify did not disappoint. I am just so happy to have this gem in our little mountain town. I ordered the Red Grouper special while others in my party ordered the pork tenderloin, the scallops, and the chicken entrees. All were perfectly executed. We are all restaurant people and we were all thoroughly impressed, which is often hard to do. Service was spot on, our waiter was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive, but not overly so. Every detail is well thought out, from Carlton's cocktails to the house-made bread and butter, to the menu. If you are in the area, this is a must-stop! The atmosphere is casual and the value is great but if you are looking for something even more casual, their pizza counterpart (Fortify Pi) is delicious as well. Thank you Fortify for a memorable evening and a delicious kickoff to the holidays!
we've eaten there twice. both times the food has been imaginative and superb. service is attentive and unobtrusive. I had grouper with a pumpkin seed crust on butternut squash risotto with apple brown butter sauce than had me scouring the plate with leftover bread to make sure nothing was left behind. even vanilla ice cream for dessert is not "plain vanilla" -- it all just tasted better and better. yes, your credit card will get a workout, but this is no ordinary food and no fast food burger joint. in Clayton!
We have followed this chef in three venues. He is very creative and his menu is always varied with something for everyone. The only problem that we had was the 20 degree winds blowing into the restaurant. Wish they had a buffer zone to keep patrons warmer. The food and service were superb!
When I knew our cousins from Texas, originally Georgia, would visit us, Fortify came to mind for a special night out. We all were pleased and enjoyed the great specials as well as the menu item that is irresistible, Gouda Pimento Cheese Fritters. There is so much talent coming forth from Jamie Alred's kitchen and I am looking forward to meeting a friend next week for lunch.
