This is quite unfortunate to write this review, however it is deserving of the low score. The waiter was so inattentive we lost our appetites and wanted to leave. He was missing for long periods of time. The noise is so loud even with a request to quieter table it was a challenge. When I go out for dinner I want to talk to my husband and have a conversation which is basically impossible.
The service the worst I have experienced.
It was our first time there and we loved it. The food was delicious, the staff was very friendly and informative, the ambiance was lovely. Can't wait to go back.
Food is very good. Portions somewhat small. Menu is limited. Very tasty, but somewhat expensive for portion size.
Okay but not Great. Hostess was rude and acted like she didn't want to be there. Very Good Kennett Square Pizza.
Great drinks! Food was good but portions were small.
Scallop appetizer was delicious, oysters very fresh. Duck was in large chunks, pretty chewy. Accompanying white asparagus and fiddleheads sparse but perfectly cooked. Husband’s pork chop O.K., not great, with 9 or ten fava beans. Nice place, and not a bad meal, but not sure the value is there. Would go again to try pizza or small plates.
Great food. Great wine. Great service!
The Duroc Pork chop was excellent... Like pork should be but so often is not.
The food was exceptionally good. The service was excellent. Drinks were mixed properly. However, the noise from the bar was unpardonably loud, and I've been to many loud restaurants in my day! The was a group of 4 women, obviously inebriated, SHRIEKING AND SQUEALING at the top of their lungs for the full 90 minutes of our meal. We asked the waiter to ask them to tone it down to no avail. We observed another couple come in to eat at the bar who promptly left without ordering because of the noise. We don't understand why gourmet food is wasted on a group of clients who are there only to get drunk and scream and annoy the rest of us. This is sad because the food was great and we came from Philadelphia to join our friends who live nearby. WE WILL NOT BE BACK
Chef Jeff Powers strikes every time with such amazing food. Tuna tartar is a signature that's unmatched. The bar makes fantastic drinks. Awesome fun atmosphere, definitely get what you pay for.
All around a good experience.
First time here and it was a pleasant experience. The menu was s but limited, though.
Experience was nice but the menu is limited and not very appealing.
Enjoyed the food, the ambiance was great. There was no large selection of foods on the menu, but the meal I received was enjoyable. Just wish there was more to offer
First time to this self proclaimed Wine Bar. Selection of wine by glass was medium in scope and diversity. Waiter was very good, but was admittedly a little untrained in wine selection, yet was able say so and to be helpful nonetheless after consulting with others on our behalf. Seated upstairs in overly generous table with other tables seemingly far away... somewhat spacious and suburban. Not used to that, personally, just felt strange. Food was good, but somewhat expensive and small portions... $36/doz for smaller Wellfleet oysters seems steep. Final bill with a couple appetizers, a salad, pizza and a few glasses of wine for 2 of us for about $120... Outdoor dining spaces do look exceptional, and would go back on a nice summer evening.
The food and service were amazing. We were there on Mother’s Day and the staff handled the guests with ease!
Was very nice mothers day brunch. Only complaint is they should have informed guests that the drinks were not part of the fixed price menu.
Great food and attentive staff. Kenny, our server, was knowledgeable about the drink menu and food menu. Food was fantastic.
Quick excellent service, every course perfect, range of menu options perfect for everyone, this was a great experience for the whole family.
Nice meal. Overpriced steak. Great dessert.
The experience was uncharacteristically disappointing. The scallop appetizer (2 small ones for $17) was pricey and overcooked. The fried chicken appetizer was overcooked and dry. The cauliflower steak was mostly delicious, but the core was not cooked through (and inedible). We make this at home, and it can be cooked through. The other dishes (cauliflower pizza, filet) were all good.
The outside seating is beautiful near the fireplace! The food was delicious, but overpriced for portions. Specifically, the tuna tartare was $17 and was very small and mixed with a lot of mayo or something that took away from the freshness typical of a tartare. The cheese board and the duck were delicious. The most disappointing thing was our server. She did not smile, was unfriendly and lessened our experience. This is not typical of servers at Deterra! I had also put that it was my sister’s birthday on our reservation and it was never even acknowledged. With so many great places to go in Ambler, I’m not sure I’ll be back.
Good meal overall. I was very disappointed that the entree I wanted was not available on the night we dined. It was the entire reason for making the reservation!
We had a great dining experience.
They served us a complimentary soup of the day. We enjoyed the oysters, scallops and green pea hummus very much. The butter cake was delicious.
I'm so torn on this place. The restaurant is beautiful. It's really well done and HUGE. We were seated upstairs and were greeted promptly by our waiter, Jason. The menu was simple and VERY pricey for Ambler. The 12oz. strip steak special was $50! This is not Barclay Prime people.
So Jason was very pleasant, however our service was SO slow. Our dinner, which was not a complicated order, took nearly 3 hours from start to finish. He didn't refill our water. I asked and he never came back so I had to track down another waitress to have her fill our glasses. He would disappear for long stretches. Our appetizers- soup, fries and hummus, took almost 40 minutes to arrive and then our dinner was almost another 40 minutes after that. Honestly, by the time it arrived I wasn't hungry anymore. It was almost 9:30 and we got there at 7! I'm all for leisurely dining, but this was just insane. That said, all the food was delicious, if not overpriced. It was well-cooked, well-seasoned, and beautiful in presentation. I'd go back again but if I have another slow dinner I wouldn't go back.
We shared a few small plates and a pizza. Our waiter Jason was friendly and informative. Actually encouraged us to share so we could sample the menu. Also put the order in so everything didn't all come out at the same time. It was a relaxing evening, and we were not rushed at all.
Our go-to for "real dining out." We're regulars, but we go to several other nearby places when we don't feel like cooking, however, we go here when we want to feel like adults. We ask for a particular server, the manager greets us, the bartender knows I don't like those big ice cubes - that sort of thing. It's good to be a local at a terrific local place. The menu is relatively small but wonderfully diverse and always has several interesting entrees that I would never attempt at home and makes dining out interesting. We've had some superb meals in Philly but also our share of "eh". . . not so at Dettera. Never had anything but a good time and an excellent meal.
Very mediocre meal to say the least. Poor meat quality. Salad swimming in dressing. Won't go back
We've been there two times and both times, Michael has been our waiter. He is extremely professional and a very confident and excellent at his job. The food there is exceptional and it was a real treat to eat there Saturday night.
Great with a movie
Our soup was excellent.i was excited to try the pizza and it was average at best.
Creative chef. Always the best quality ingredients and freshness.
Great dining. Small plate selection terrific idea...can sample variety of tasty entrees. Going back next week.
Great wine selection, cheese board was exceptional. Cauliflower soup was a highlight. Service was very prompt without being intrusive.
Mushroom toast, cacio e Pepe & cauliflower side with the beaujolais wine recommendation were awesome !!
Phenomenal. Dettera never disappoints.
Amazingly crispy duck cooked to perfection, tender escargot, and amazing house-made pasta are just a few notable dishes we had last night. I'm getting hungry again writing this review! Go for the food, stay for the wine. They have great options for everyone, my wife loved the charred cauliflower entree.
At first glance, the wine list can be intimidating, but our knowledgeable server Mike was there to describe certain varieties and make recommendations.
This is not our first nor our last time visiting Deterra, the menu is always changing and makes every experience interesting and original.
Great food and amazing service. This will definitely be a place that we go to frequently!
Little disappointed with the valentine dinner. We had filet mingon was more like prime rib and the quail was dry. Seated by the bar rather than the window... could have been better seated...
Great cocktails, wine selection & food. This was our first time here, but it won't be our last!
I had not been to the restaurant since they changed it. I actually preferred the older menu. My husband and I love the mushroom pasta, and I think the short rib pasta. I ordered the tagliatelle pasta but it didn’t have anything in it, so it wasn’t as good as it could have been.
