We"ve always believed that dining should be a social occasion, a time when friends, family, and coworkers can enjoy great conversation over a great meal.
We believe in supporting our local artisans and staying connected to our Black Hills community. At a time when the area is growing and expanding, we're striving to keep the flavor of the region alive.
Inspired by the history of this area, both the aesthetics of the building and the diversity of the menu are true to our local roots, something no nation-wide franchise can duplicate. Certainly, there are other steakhouses out there, but none like ours.
From the first design to the actual construction, we've focused on creating a balance between upscale dining and a casual atmosphere-crafting a chic steakhouse where the kids are welcome too.
The rest is easy-buy the very best meat possible and prepare it correctly.

Our family celebrated our parents 50th wedding anniversary and the whole dining experience was top notch from the time we entered the restaurant till the time we left. We really enjoyed our waiter Skylar as well, he was so attentive to all of us (he did not know about the special occasion) which made the day a little bit special. We highly recommend Dakotah Steakhouse.
Service was not great. Steaks were OK but had to send back a "medium rare" filet that was "medium well+" done; the new steak was rare to medium rare which was OK. The salad was poor (refrigerator taste). The sides were poor at best. The fry bread, asparagus, and fried Mac & Cheese were not good. Tourist trap???
My husband and I are on vacation and keystone South Dakota, a restaurant closer to where we were staying had to wait. We decided to look on trip advisor and find another restaurant, this one was 20 minutes away but well worth the drive. The restaurant was beautiful, the wait staff was helpful and friendly and the food was wonderful. We each got a ribeye which was topped with crispy onions and the bread was fried bread, those two together are always good. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and may go back before we leave .
Both the server and the food were poor. The server was scatter brained and never brought our initial drink orders even though she verbally told us she was getting them THREE times during the course of our meal. I finally just canceled them. I had the prime rib which was tough and did not come with horseradish sauce like the menu described. The Fried Mac and Cheese was cold and tasteless. My person dining with me had the filet with mushrooms... they charged $6 extra from 6 mushroom slices. I'm not kidding. Never again.
Had heard really good things about this place. But we were really disappointed with the food. I expect a $50 steak to be excellent, this was far from the case. 3 of us ordered them and none of us felt that they were beyond just ok in flavor and quality. We also ordered 2 appetizers, which were reasonable. Nothing to ohh or ahh over. The fry bread that accompanied the dinner was, for a lack of better word, gross. As a Native American I am not sure who sold them on this being frybread but can assure you it is not even close. We also chose 2 desserts for the 4 of us, one of which was billed as a South Dakota favorite, this was nothing you would recognize if you knew what it should be. Poor quality food overall and definitely not worth the over $250.00 we paid. Unfortunately I could not recommend the place or the food. Service was good, our waiter was friendly though seemed unsure about the menu and didn't check back for drink refills.
Scheduled a table for a business dinner. Requested a table back in a corner so we could discuss some sensitive materials. The hostess selected a great table for us. Felicia, our server, was great. She respected our time and space. Which we appreciated greatly with the items we needed to discuss while we were there. When the food showed up, we all were very impressed with the quality and presentation of the food. Overall it was a great experience.
Best steak my daughter & I have ever had! The waiter was courteous & friendly, let me have a taste of the wine I ordered before a full glass in case I didn't like it, without me requesting to do so. I will definitely come back here next time I'm back in the area.
They catered to our every request. Even added a little flair to a birthday dessert for my wife's birthday. The price is high but so is the quality. Definitely returning here when we get a chance. I made a reservation but arrived early and didn't need to wait at all.
A note about our visit.

Our server was new, he did a pretty good job and was nice.
The Sunday evening "Chef" Burned our 10 Once Filet and our Bison Ribeye. It took a very long time for the manager to come by for assistance. By this time we had to move on for later plans. We would have liked to have had the steaks redone, but we had no time for a second round.
The Female manager there on Sunday night made a bad choice in the way she made up for the bad food. Instead of removing 100% of the charges for the burned steaks she just reduced the bill. We left a much greater portion of the food then she covered with the reduction in price.
The "crust" on the meat was pure coal like to over 1/8" deep. Black, power, chalky black. Made the slices taste horrible. Could not eat it. I showed her how it bounced off the plate and left black on my fingers.
I did not protest her decision. I did feel cheated, I do not respect a manager or a restaurant who would charge for badly cooked steaks. It was never about the money! It is about Class, Value, Mutual Respect and customer service! The server was embarrassed by her decision (Manager).
My bill was still over $100.00 after her little discount. Even though she ruined our meal.
At Tally's Silver spoon we gave rave reviews as deserved. At Dakotah's I am giving the review deserved as well. Will post a review everywhere I can find to post them.
Next time do the right thing for the next customer whom you provide substandard food too. I expected excellence and was willing to pay for high quality. Very disappointed.
We made our reservations for our anniversary which was never noticed. The prime rib was delicious but the sides were crap. My husband ordered blue cheese mashed potatoes and got a smashed potato with three blue cheese crumbles on it. My bacon wrapped asparagus was so burnt in the ends could only eat the middle!
