Cured – chef Steve McHugh’s first and highly anticipated gastropub opened December 2013 in the century-old building that once belonged to the president’s headquarters of the famed Pearl Brewing Company. This seasoned chef spent ten years in New Orleans as chef de cuisine for chef John Besh followed by two years at Lüke in San Antonio. Yet, his most sterling achievement has been beating cancer. After such a life-changing triumph, McHugh set out to open Cured, giving it a name that speaks to his feat as well as the artisanal cured meats hanging in view. It was with this purity of ingredients and hands-on methodology that enhanced his own healing process. This from-scratch, seasonal focus finds its to menu items like Sweet Potato Agnolotti with Bourbon Brown Sugar & Sage and Slow Cooked Heritage Hog with Smoked Andouille & Okra. McHugh has found a way to implement “gastronomic giving” by donating $1 from every charcuterie board order to a different charity each quarter.

Cured came highly recommended by local friends.
I'm an admitted foodie and enjoyed the open concept and unique food. Charcuterie is one of my food obsessions and Cured satisfied my pallet and curiosity! I purchased a few of the Cured delights: 🍅 jam, mustard and Hali pano apple butter to create with at home. I'd recommend Cured to people who enjoy an interesting dinning destination!

This is a fabulous find. Cured specializes in a very unique experience. The dining experience starts (or should start) with a customizable charcuterie. Be sure to try the chicken liver mousse (this is normally not my thing - it is now - get it). The bartender is a master of hand crafted cocktails (try "a boy names suse). This is a slightly bitter (by no means sweet) brilliant drink based on gin and absinthe. All of the meat is good - Cured is a Carnivores delight). The Wagyu beef is tender and silky, the lamb tartare if refreshing - and not a single iota of gaminess. All of the desserts are decadent. The Chocolate with pine fluff is incredible. Be sure to get the fluff on each bite - AMAZING.
Chef McHugh is a true artisan.

Came here during a weekend trip to San Antonio with my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday. It was our first meal in the city. We were both impressed by both the food and drinks. Everything was carefully prepared and full of flavor. We had the steak frites and a charcuterie board. I loved the homemade spreads that came with the charcuterie. Great cocktail and beer selection. A perfect place for a special occasion.

We tried the 3 serving charcuterie, foie gras and steak with mushrooms. The two best were the duck ham and the figs with the foie gras. The mushrooms that came with the steak entree. The best part of Cured is the variety of appetizers and entrees. This visit was not the best, however, there is such variety that I will come back. The other times I've been there, the choices were fabulous

The food was really good, but not for the price. While I am willing to pay for craftsmanship, the price points were grossly inflated on quite a few items, especially on the craft beer selection. I don't know anyone willing to pay $34 for a local beer that they can get at another restaurant or the brewery itself for $10.

Great dining experience. Wonderful cured meats and flavors. Great waitress and even when they brought one item that we did not order by mistake they left it as complimentary and it was one of our favorites. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Cured is always great. Love the food options. You can eat tapas style, full diner or combine options. Great drinks, beers and wine selection. Wine list includes quality wines at reasonable prices. Happy hour is a great option. Marc is an awesome waiter if you go. Very knowledgeable. One of our favorite places.

Very impressed with our first trip there. We'd heard their burger was good and we're not disappointed- it was excellent! Real potato fries, cooked perfectly too. Crazy cheap - I'd have paid more for the wonderful service, menu and character, so they got a good tip instead! Can't wait to come back for more

Overall it was an OK experience it started off a little iffy because it took the waiter about 20 minutes to even take our drink order service picked up just a little bit after that so it was OK they ran out of the duck which was the reason why I went there in the first place so that was really disappointing

Had a great time with my wife at this restaurant. Im a pastry chef and i really enjoyed the food from a customer and a professional stand point. The desserts were phenomenal and the charcuterie plate was second to none. The Lamb Terrine with the Butternut Squash reduction surprised me! A flavor explosion for my tastebuds. I had to choose between the foie gras and the pork chops. I went with foie gras with fig and brioche plate. I followed up with the Milk and Honey dessert. That, i must say, is an amazing contrast of flavors and temperatures that are the ribbon on this gift of an experience.
Im coming back for the pork chops next time and the Thyme dessert.
My wife doesnt come from a culinary background so it was her first time trying charcuterie, lamb, duck, etc. She loved everything that was placed in front of her. It made her so happy to try new things and expand her world with this new experience. Thanks to Cured, date night was a great night.

Everything was delicious! The pig face poutine was much larger than expected, so we didn't even finish half of it. The cured meat tray was well presented and the accompaniments were a great pairing. The foie gras and cucumber & melon were was also favorites. The historical building has a great vibe. The service was very attentive, and multiple managers stopped by our table to see how our experience was. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I have been to Cured several times and brought our son from Louisiana last Fruday night. It was not a good experience! The waiter seemed disinterested in us, on my order they forgot the fried oysters and we were not impressed with the overall experience - were arrived at 6:10 and did not finish until 7:50 - we had to find the waiter to get the check, as we were heading to the Symphony for an 8:00 concert!!!

A must visit! Our server Mark was AMAZING! He helped us chose different types of meat prepared in a variety of ways. Then educated us on the ingredients, process and preparation. Cured is not just a meal -- it's an experience. Wonderful food, unique atmosphere, and excellent service. The next time we are in San Antonio we will visit again!

Very interesting restaurant experience. My wife and I had our monthly date night and wanted to try something different. Cured definitely met the bill. Very interesting dishes on the menu. We kind of worked our way thru the menu by sharing appetizers, salads and a couple of entrees. We are very adventurous when it comes to food. So we look for items we have never had before and that was easy to do with the menu at Cured. Don't know how many times we looked at each other and stated "That's Good". Of course they offer several safe dishes for those less adventurous, but if you want a neat experience and try something a little different, make a reservation and get over there. Place fills up real fast.

25 minute wait for a 5:45 PM reservation and then had to sit at the "chef's table". Couldn't see a thing the chefs were doing and it was like being in the kitchen myself.
We waited another 20 minutes for a glass of wine and a martini because the "bartender in training" was working – on a busy Friday night!?
We continued to wait another 25 minutes until finally questioned our waitress about our entrées. Oops! She didn't get our orders of fried chicken livers - which arrived overlooked! Disaster! Disappointing! Catastrophe!
The experience will make me think twice before returning.

If you haven't dined here yet, just do it! You will not be disappointed! Exceptional quality food and the servers are even better. Ask for Angela, she is a great gal! Good times, great food, exceptional cocktails (Try The Old Diplomat) you will have a great time, no doubt!

Cured is a gem. When we first started coming to Cured, we didn't know what to make of the menu, which features offal and other unique cuts of meat. Once we ate here the first time, we understood. It's delicious, carefully prepared, and professionally offered. The charcuterie plate is a must-do on each visit, and we love it when we come in time for the burger or quail legs, which are only offered through happy hour.

Disappointed with the food. I ordered the Red Snapper (small portion) sat in a large bowl of white beans (too many in fact) overpowered the fish, and priced too high for the amount.
Husband ordered gumbo very delicious and fried chicken gizzards and were very tasty. Priced just right and portions were good. Ambiance was nice, restaurant was unique in design and we were seated as soon as we arrived.

I loved my visit to Cured. I've been twice and I ordered the burger both times. It might be the best burger I've ever had. I would go back in a heartbeat! I will say that I wish there were draft beer options. $9 for a bottled beer is a little ridiculous.

A group of old college friends came from afar to celebrate my husband's birthday. Cured was perfect and we had a great table, great food and drink, and most of all a GREAT server... Jonathan.
This is one of our two very favorite local restaurants and it was a pleasure to share it with great friends.
