Fantastic food as always. We thought Brooklyn was an excellent host and server -- gracious, upbeat and provided perfect recommendations for vegetarian options (as much as I was tempted to spring for the short rib pappardelle). Wine by bottle is the way to go. Take some to go too. Why not?
The ribeye carpaccio was out of this world. Everything was delicious. Very enjoyable experience.
Always the perfect place for a nice dinner, or casual. Outstanding choices and good drink bar. Not easy to find a special Italian Amaro.
Loved the restaurant - food was amazing - service was outstanding - Bolognese is a must!!!
Came in for my sister's birthday and had an excellent time from start to finish. Our server, Kemper, was awesome. He was very attentive and charming and made our dinner even better. Food is always on point. Thanks.
The Buccatini was great- highly recommend it. However, the triangoli had extremely small portions-tastes good but not worth it. Also, the truffle fries were bomb especially the tomato sauce that it comes with. Rebecca was our server and was really helpful. Overall, I had a great experience.
Bucatini and giant meatball excellent we had the honey crisp for a cocktail also very good
I am never disappointed when I eat here! It doesn't matter if I eat in the dinning area or at the bar the food and service is always the best.
My husband and I love this restaurant for dinner before plays at the Globe. We like to sit up on the upper level near the reception desk especially if it’s still light out. Great people watching -people coming and going into the restaurant and outside at the busy intersection. We always have great, personal service. The cocktails are very creative and yummy. I participate like the starters. Both the chicken liver pate and the tomato/Burrata salad were great. And everyone enjoyed their entrees. We’ll be back!
I was with my family and we all enjoyed out meal and our waitress, I think, Lynne, Thanks for the complimentary birthday dessert.
The food was delectable and the service impeccable
I've been 3 times. The first two visits, I loved it, but my recent visit something seemed to change. Portion sizes have definitely gotten smaller with the prices staying the same. And the food just wasn't as good. Was my go to Italian spot but honestly i probably won't come back unless it was for happy hour possibly.
Great food!
Always enjoyed. Great food and menu options. One of our must go to places ehen in San Diego.
Very nice and comfortable.
Sophisticated but not pretentious.
As always, it’s a special treat to dine here! The service was incredible, the atmosphere, lovely and the food was exceptional!! I’ve never been a fan of Brussels sprouts until I tasted them here...now I order them every time I come here!! Thanks for a wonderful evening.
Phenomenal! One of the better meals I’ve had.
Perhaps the best restaurant in San Diego! We have eaten here several times since moving from New York City—where there is no shortage of amazing Italian food, and Cucina Urbana is a contender! The bucatini is lucious — with a depth of flavor and richness. And speaking of richness, the mushroom pizza with goat cheese, fried onion and truffle oil was heavenly with the perfect amount of richness— but not so over the top that you had that regretful feeling. Indulged and pampered, yes! The service is always spot on — professional and attentive. And last but not least...the wonderful (and reasonable) wines! This is both a neighborhood place to come in, keep it simple and have an amazing bowl of pasta, or a restaurant to celebrate and splurge for a very special occasion!
Great food and great atmosphere. I highly recommend this place.
Excellent food and waiters. Nice location and lovely inside.
Loved everything about this restaurant, it’s decor, food, drinks, and the service. It will be a must next time I am close to this restaurant! Added to one of my favorite restaurant list.
Our dinner was amazing. Wonderful food, perfect service and vibrant atmosphere. Cucina Urbana never disappoints!
Our service was excellent, the food was excellent also. We were fortunate and had one of the high seat window spots. We were heading to the Old Globe so it was a perfect place for a pre theater meal.
Long-standing favorite among locals. Excellent starters to share, and great wine list.
It was such a great experience. All of the food was amazing, I love the ambiance and our waiter, Kemper, was really attentive to our needs making the perfect suggestions. We wish you would expand to NY!
Great food great service. Interesting cocktails. Pasta was cooked well.
Food is amazingly delicious and affordable! Highly recommend, service is good, appetizers came out quickly although our dinner took a little longer than expected. We were a group of 9, but reservation was at 8:30 pm. Overall this is a restaurant I'd visit again without hesitation! Best burrata ever!
It was an outstanding experience. From the moment Evan took our drink order and gave his favorites on the menu it was great. We split the burrata + tomato (hearts of palm + gaeta olive + watercress + crisp buckwheat + ciabatta toast) and my friend had the triangoli (lamb + pistachio + creme fraiche + mint + cilantro). I had the pappardelle (short rib + cremini mushroom + carrot + parmesan). It was all excellent!
Excellent food, wine, and ambience. One meal didn’t come out of pizza oven as expected and they were very accommodating and gracious about it
Very nice restaurant and so close to the Park that we could walk around before and after our meal - and parking in the area was not a problem. Service was excellent and our waiter picked the wine based on our input of what we liked - and nailed it. Food was fantastic as well! The only Con we had was the ambient noise level was too high - so much so that at our small table of 4 (center of restaurant), we could not hear each our speaking and we all had to constantly lean into the table to have a conversation. Loved the entire experience but wall/ceiling noise attenuation fixtures would be most welcomed.
Good food good wine nice price and service excellent
We got seated 15 minutes before our reservation that we booked on open table spontaneously 2 hours beforehand. The food was great and so was the service. We had the triangoli pasta with creme fraiche, as well as the bucatini with hen egg. Both were incredible! The high ratings of this place do not lie. I would definitely come again!
Our dinner at Cucina Urbana was flawless from start to finish! One of the best Italian restaurants in the country and certainly a must when in San Diego. The ambiance, service, and food were all incredible. Our waiter was very attentive and allowed us to take our time in between courses, making for the most enjoyable experience. We loved everything we ordered - fried squash blossoms, burrata, gnocchi, bucatini and of course the giant meatballs! They have an excellent wine selection to complement the meal as well. Highly recommend!!!
Amazing pasta
We use this place as a special occasion place . Unfortunately what is normally impeccable food AND service was mediocre this time. The steak was burnt and the server didn't even check on us until the end of everyone else's meal so my husband sat there without food. They comped him the steak but not the rushed spaghetti he got instead after everyone was done eating. Just disappointed in this normally RAD place.
Good short rib pasta and pappardelle bolognese. Too loud have to yell to talk
Tiramisu marginal. Excessively noisy. Open Table reservation system needs work.
Wonderful food
Alway great food, service, tasty drinks! Ordered the bacon, date, pizza only because our waiter suggested it, and we loved it! We love the chopped salad. So many good flavors.
We brought some friends from out of town, directly from the airport.
Perfect location and very good food. No waiting with reservation....good server. Loved the food.
